WWW's six week 10 year younger bootcamp, WEEK TWO, MARCH 2008, all welcome

Welcome to week 2 of the second WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

ChutneyMary · 12/03/2008 19:36

Hi girls... am struggling here with no roof(apart froma jaunty bit of tarpaulin), too much work, not enough sleep and 2 children who may be brewing the pox. Oh dear. Am walking and trying to stay on the straight and narrow but it's hard. feel a few anchovies and a glass of sherry coming on. I'll try to hold out.

Hope all are well. Will post when am feeling a bit stronger as otherwise will turn into a total moan fest. Must go and give myself a talking to.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 12/03/2008 20:20

Chutney - no roof in this weather? Yea gods that can't be much fun.

I have spent the day sitting on my arse, cooking and working (a bit). Sciatica still hurts but at least I'm not as shattered as I was yesterday. Thank you all for various cheery comments but I confess that I would happily be doing much less physical work right now given a choice.

I have eaten raw carrots for breakfast (this baby's eyesight is going to be awesome!), ham & cauliflower cheese for lunch, apple, half a bag of Hula Hoops, slice of chocolate cake, chilli & pitta bread, another slice of chocolate cake. Lots of water.

Face and hand cream yes. No body lotion or Flexitol as yet but DH has promised massage (but he's horribly busy so I may luck-out).

unknownrebelbang · 12/03/2008 20:57

Massage should be top of his list Duchess!

L&S - isn't that what mat leave is all about?? Sounds like you've got it sussed.

Wine on the train is the way to do it www.

Well done on losing 2lb saggars. I've got the germ-laden children (personal) end of financial year (work) end of term (personal) plus the school inspection was in the autumn term (DH Chair of Govs so heavily involved), but the work inspection is in September, oh hum.

SS sounds lovely, but MM would do absolutely nothing for me I'm afraid, so don't blame you avoiding.

Hope you're soon feeling better Bundle and Marina.

Sympathy Chutney, that must be horrid.

unknownrebelbang · 12/03/2008 21:00
  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze
  • 30 mins ex bike.
  • Lots of water/weak tea.
  • Apply body cream as often as possible, lax
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, yes
  • Go to bed - 11ish last night.
  • Eat healthily - hmm,
  • Be happy. ok. Very hectic scouting AGM, it's the one night I get lots of thanks, before being duped asked to carry on as group sec. Still, it has it's advantages...
unknownrebelbang · 12/03/2008 21:00

tsk tsk.

ITS advantages.

WideWebWitch · 12/03/2008 22:00

lol at this thread, at leching at young actors and trainers and inviting lardy celebs to join, ha ha

WELL, Boss said "I have no issue with your proposal, fine by me, I just need to run it past my boss" !! She also said to me today "he (her boss) really rates you" so fingers crossed, if she goes for it, EVERYTHING changes (the 21st Century is when everything changes ) as the proposal is 9.30 - 4.30 Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri and a whole day from home on Weds. Plus a bit of working on train. Wow, if I get it they can have me til September. and dh bought me an Eee pc Why alk these ees and wiis and miis ?

This thread is lovely and chatty isn't it? Hey, today I learned of generation Y, heard of them any of you? Basically, anyone born after 1980, bunch of lazy fkers and many of them work in my team, but this explains and my word, it explains why I have such an issue with work ethic. I feel a bit thick for not having picked it up before but basically, it's about this generation who have a sense of entitlement due to growing up with parents who told them they wee great, and big brother, etc etc. Explains a lot imo.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 12/03/2008 22:04

so

toast, Marmite
chicken avocado and bacon club sandwich, 500 cal
apple
1.5 bananas (one was a bit soggy, chucked it)
some Doritos
Shepherds pie
wine

but feeling happy because there might be light at the end of the tunnel

also have int locally on Monday (wking from home so will still get paid) but it's for a 50% drop in pay so doubt I'll want it tbh. Worth going in case they have something more senior at any point.

tortoiseSHELL · 12/03/2008 22:05

Yay, www, that sounds really promising! Fingers crossed for you!

bamamama · 13/03/2008 03:28

Hello all, had the briefest of catchups - this week seems to be about Cath Kidson wellies, Rufus-one-for-the-ladies-Sewell, tarp roofs and WWW's single handed attempt to revolutionise the british working week. So all good then .

I've been absent due to many reason main one being ds developing the most alarming rash
and a tendency to scream. Aparently its nothing serious, poor love has a bit of a viral thing going on and a heat rash so we're risking the deposit on the flat and having as much nappy off time as poss. (baby wee really smells in 30 degree heat too )

Will catch up properly soon, take care all, it's nearly the weekend!

feetheart · 13/03/2008 16:47

batters - I think some people are just barmy, its the only explanation. What sort of generation are we creating now?

WWW - fingers-crossed for you here too.

DofN - did you get your massage?

ChutneyMary - no roof-eek How long will that go on for? Hope anchovies and sherry did the trick.
Hope the pox turns out not to be though if they do get spotty can you come round here? Keep trying to get my 2 to catch it but failing miserably, even DD hugging spotty best friend for an afternoon didn't work. I'm sure they are saving it for a REALLY inconvenient moment!!

Yesterday not bad, even managed to take dc to see self-absorbed SiL without too many violent thoughts Still eating too much chocolate but doing well on most others things, got up to 9,000 steps too and bumped into an old friend which was nice.
Today going well so far but will have to wait till later to eat which means trying to avoid scoffing whilst making children's tea!

moonshine · 13/03/2008 17:17

ChutneyMary - I too have a thing for anchovies (maybe not with sherry though!) - go for it, There is a well-known equation you know: no roof or sleep + pox = indulging yourself x 4.

WWW - I know how you can raise some extra cash - rent out that dh of yours. I definitely have a case of relationship envy here.

Batters - sounds like your gym routine is taking off nicely - have you managed to shake off Monosyllabic Michael?

My bootcamp has disintegrated. My boss resigned this week and was immediately banned from coming into the building with immediate effect , leaving me in the s**t basically. Not sure what will happen to my job yet, I am leaderless and expected to clean up all the crap left behind. They have told me the usual 'we value you' crap but my lovely little boat of a part-time flexi-hours job which allows me to do the school run and dress up at least once a year has now hit an iceberg. Leading me to the confession of wine and pizza and loads of Lindt chocolate last night. Wish I wasn't such an emotional eater. Still, am determined to go the gym tomorrow and wreck my outer thighs this time to balance me out.

Prufrock · 13/03/2008 17:20

My bad week turned into 2. Well actually that's not true, Apart from 4 cappucinno truffles I've been good since Monday Thursday night I was v. v. drunk on champagne and wonderful memories after meeting up with everyone from the job I left 10 years ago. Then Friday I had to drink beer and eat Nandos to recover from the hangover, and Saturday I overate and drank hugely at the most wonderful kebab shop.
But I haven't really been in the mood for being perfect, and if I can't be perfect I don't even want to join in. BUt when our erstwhile leader creates a new thread on Monday I will be there, ticking my spreadsheet valiantly.

Prufrock · 13/03/2008 17:21

I so understand about Generation Y. My littel brother is a perfect example. Did a degree in Business and Management (after getting a D and E at A levels) and wouldn't accept that he had to take an entry level job afterwards. Then came and lived with me for a few weeks that turned into months, became depressed (depressed my arse) a few weeks after dh had called in favours and found him a job and finally departed, but not before stealing from my bank account, which to this day he denies. Got drunk once and broke into kids park, fell off slide and broke his arm, and tried to sue the parish council for having dangerous equipment. He really cannot see why I thought he was doing anything wrong! They expect everything, but have no sense of resposibility.

www - hope you get your approval.

See you all next week.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/03/2008 17:28
Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/03/2008 17:40

Batters - glad you enjoyed the gym. The questions sound pretty standard in my experience. Ever feel like saying 'get a grip?'

Prufrock - baby steps - no-one's perfect

www - hope it works out and you can get some sort of improved work/life balance. lol about generation Y - it makes sense. I'm a baby boomer (but only just).

Moonshine - hope your work situation improves too. I'm lucky in that my reaction to stress/anxiety is to not eat. Although I do tend towards replacing those lost calories with too much booze.

I'm 'doing' Davina tonight - sounds naughty lol. Still falling down on the water thing though - good job really as I haven't had time for a wee today.

Stressed? Moi? See previous post.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 13/03/2008 20:13

saggars - what's up? How's Davina?

bama - nekkid bottom is the way to go! But hope the rash improves before the carpet rots.

moonshine - sorry about work iceberg. At least it's nearly the weekend.

pru - nobody is perfect. As for little bro, I'm afraid I'd have thrown the little toerag out!

batters - well done for gym. Questions about trip do seem ridiculous - PFBs d'you think?!

feetheart - good steps yesterday. And yes, I DID get my massage!! (Unfortunately followed by sex so I ached just as much when I got out of bed this morning and sorry because I'm well aware that was way too much info!!!!).

Ahem. Anyway. Today I've eaten toast & marmite, ham & coleslaw sandwich, raw c's, apple, salmon, boiled potatoes & salad, Twirl and a large handful of cashews. Lots of water and cashews are making me drink more!

Have been rushing about all day but nothing that constitutes exercise. Even so, I was barely hobbling around the kitchen by dinnertime, so it's feet up for me for this evening and no work. More chocolate may be consumed...

WideWebWitch · 13/03/2008 21:11

Hello all
