Thanks@Countmeout

@faustina - unfortunately, if you don’t accept the return, eBay will send her a return label with your address anyway.

If you are lucky, you will then get your original item back in its original condition, with the buyer having been refunded on your behalf by eBay with or without your consent.

It’s happened to me and it’s so unfair!

You can try complaining to eBay but they side with the buyer.

I suspect the sandals just don’t fit the buyer and/or she doesn’t like them and, instead of throwing herself on your mercy and asking for a refund, she is going down the ‘it’s fake route’ - it happens all the time 🙃

My strong advice would be to just accept return with a note saying, sorry they don’t suit, but of course they are real.

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 12:22

I hope you do get somewhere with eBay @faustina - I didn’t mean to be negative- but I speak from bitter, bitter experience as someone who doesn’t sell much on eBay and has had a couple of run-ins with some unpleasant buyers🙃.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/07/2023 12:23

And finally! Perseverance pays off.

Toasties: Looking great for High summer and holidays
Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 12:27

Well done @Theteapotsbrokenspout - they are lovely!

faustina · 27/07/2023 12:37

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - beautiful - well done. Lovely grainy leather!

@Dee1224 - thank you. I've had run-ins in the past too, and it's just so unpleasant, especially when you know you're in the right. I spoke to CS and apparently the man who bought them hasn't opened a return ticket {?} just sent me a rather nasty email last night.

They told me to write back and just repeat that they weren't fake anything, and that I didn't accept returns. So that's what I've done. I'm wondering if he just didn't like them too - but ffs if you buy something on ebay that you don't like, you just relist it - not invent spurious faults!

OftenOrange · 27/07/2023 12:38

Thanks for all those lovely Toast outfits , far more enabling than the website.
@Countmeout lovely to see how terrific the Poppies dress is in IRL , and looking fab with a jumper. It is waiting for me in UK , hope I ordered the right size.
Joining @Stravaig in the grumpy corner , like everyone I’m dismayed by the mixed messaging in the recent mail out . I’d far rather donate to a high street charity . It makes me laugh that on the one hand we’re being advised to make do and mend , on the other to buy, buy, buy.
However I’m still in love with the clothing and am enjoying everything I’ve bought so am unlikely to jump ship at the moment.

Having said that I see that Me & Em have some very tasty dresses in their Sale.
Anyone else been a M &Em fan in the past ?
I liked it when the ciollections were very small and the only shop was off Edgeware Rd. I loathe the fussy designs and man made fibres they use, crease resistant maybe but slimy looking . However there are a lot of nice loose cotton dresses in block colours which I may try .

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 12:40

Good luck @faustina - remember- it’s not you, it’s them x

faustina · 27/07/2023 12:42

Thank you Dee

Noeggsontoast · 27/07/2023 12:45

@OftenOrange I am a fan of me&em - specifically summer loose cotton dresses in cheesecloth, go anywhere and no ironing required, their dressy dresses for occasions and their winter knitwear - sweaters and cardigans.

I don't buy a lot from them but what I have bought I've really liked and worn a lot and they've washed well. Their sales can be quite good too.

I was dismayed by the Toast email this morning. Uniform Research take back jeans specifically but give customers a discount to purchase something new. They then sell on the jeans in store at a very inexpensive price. Much prefer this model.

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 12:56

I am wearing my eBay purchase stripy 3/4 sleeve tee with my toast linen trousers today. I was also briefly wearing my Toast apron earlier when I decided to make Martha Stewart’s pancake recipe. I say briefly - but it took so long, I had to have a rest afterwards🤣

Ah I skimread that email this morning assuming I was missing some key detail. But it is just cheeky fuckery with extra pretentious sprinkles on top, then.

It's absolutely disgusting greed.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/07/2023 13:01

Hope you are reading this Toast. We are unimpressed.

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 13:02

Speaking of non-Toast sale items, I almost bought some White Stuff cotton/ linen tea towels yesterday- reduced to £6. I thought they were very lovely and actually far too nice to be tea towels, (which in my house usually consist of some ancient scraps of cloth that may - once - have been tea towel in origin!)

They had loads of different ones in store, only a few online:

Safari Animals Blue Tea Towel in BLUE MULTI

Shop the Safari Animals Blue Tea Towel in BLUE MULTI. A tropical print in a cool blue. Holiday daydream fuel for when you're drying the plates.

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 13:03

Hear, hear @neveradullmoment99 !

OftenOrange · 27/07/2023 13:36

@clowniform You put it so well , those sprinkles especially irk me.
@Dee1224 Looks delish !

neveradullmoment99 · 27/07/2023 14:23

Took my mum to her appointment today. I got a huge and lovely compliment from the lady treating my elderly mum. She asked me where I got my beautiful clothes from and thst I always looked so lovely and that she loved my style!
Jeez! I seriously always think I look a mess!
Today I had on my Annie crops, striped socks and sage green dr marten oxfords with navy boatneck. I had my new peacoat over the top and my across the body bag (Kate Sheridan)in brown. The wee mini one.
I literally threw my clothes on this morning as I was in a huge rush.

OftenOrange · 27/07/2023 14:36

@neveradullmoment99 It sounds like a great ensemble , I bet you looked really stylish.
I think maybe we get used to our lovely things and don’t realise how other may perceive them.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/07/2023 15:05

I have just had a thorough sort out of my wardrobe, and also my sale items and have decided to return the Check Linen Trousers. I thought they would hang the same as the fenugreek balloon trousers but they just don't look right on me.

I hung on to them as DH said he liked them but I don't think I would ever get them out to wear. I also don't know what the difference is between those and the current Space Check Trousers, they look the same to me, but I may try those at a later date.

faustina · 27/07/2023 15:10

@neveradullmoment99 - what a lovely compliment! I think that's one of the nice things about Toast - it is designed to be thrown on and it still looks amazing.

@Dee1224 - those are beautiful tea towels. Someone else on this thread mentioned that they recently had some lovely ones framed. Maybe you could do similar? (can't remember who, but they were Timorous Beasties)

Also - Ebay update which I'm hoping is true, but the man was so nice I'm almost expecting an email saying 'only joking'. Anyway I came home just now to find the buyer had requested a return from ebay, and that I would be able to 'inspect the items' once they arrived back with me - so I called Ebay again and explained that I didn't need to inspect anything - my sandals are definitely Saltwater and definitely leather - and the bloke was AMAZING. He said 'you've been with ebay for 20 years, let me use my powers to override the request and you just keep the money and forget about it. Have a nice day' So unless it was a joke, it's currently Me: 1, Dickhead: 0

faustina · 27/07/2023 15:14

ooh - actually I've just had an email to say the case is closed (so not a joke) and they've decided to refund the buyer but at no cost to myself.

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 15:24

Thanks @OftenOrange - I don’t think I need to eat for the rest of the day 🤣

@faustina - glad you got someone decent at eBay and that you are getting your payment! Does that mean the buyer is keeping your sandals?

Yay, that’s wonderful. I’d block the CF as well, I bet it’s not the first or last time they try that on.

faustina · 27/07/2023 15:45

@Dee1224 - I guess he does get to keep them? Not sure. I saw his initial report and apparently the leather is cracked and pulling off as well as not being real leather

@ilovecherries - I will block, but will that still mean I'll notice if he leaves me shitty feedback?

Here's a pic of the terrible cracking pulling non-leather fake saltwater sandals bought from Toast which I literally wore twice:

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 15:50

Hi @faustina - do keep an eye on your feedback- as - in effect - eBay have called it a draw, you should be able to challenge any bad feedback. Make sure you do, if so.

I got bad feedback- which has permanently affected my rating - as I spotted an overseas fraudster using a scam address and so I cancelled an expensive sale. Obviously I refunded the ‘buyer’ immediately, with a polite note, but they still left negative feedback and eBay refused to remove it🙃

Blocking just means he can’t email you anymore- you can still see his feedback - if any. Basically, don’t leave him any feedback and hopefully he will do likewise 🤞
