I’m loving reading about the viscose dress love. I have only one - the green fan print one from a couple of years ago. I would never have bought it myself, but I picked it up from a Toast circle rail. It looked brand new and I swapped it for a very old (but practically unworn) dress that I was never going to fit into again, so I was delighted. It keeps going on my list to eBay though as I have never worn it. It is very long on me and always seems very dressed up, so I’m not sure where I would ever wear it. Maybe I should try it with trainers though…
You’re all inspiring me to give it another shot.

Today I wore my new (to me) cotton cashmere culottes and the black boatneck from the sale with some Birkenstock clogs. Very pleased with the culottes, think I will be able to make them work almost year round.

Stoic123 · 26/07/2023 20:11

@ScottishMouse - I've been avoiding the Mila Meadow as felt too dressesd up but today wore it with boat shoes and a very casual ribbed jersey top flung over it (taken off when day warmed up). It worked fine- I think I need to treat the viscose dresses more casually.

clowniform · 26/07/2023 20:27

Love both dresses on you @Saurus72 but especially the embroidered one.

Envy everyone who can indulge in all the easy-care drapy viscose loveliness. I had this fern print from a few seasons ago but never wore it (felt too ladylike for my everyday life, but too casual for anything else). In between sewing and taking care of my Toast things I spend far too much time at the ironing board!

@clowniform I have that dress but in the cream/black falling leaves pattern and I wear it sooo much. The use case sounds pretty niche - in the summer with flat sandals when it's not warm enough for an actually summer dress. However in the reality of the UK summer, that means that I can wear it often April-October - I always roll the sleeves up so I feel less covered up. Goes really well with a denim jacket - plus it doesn't need ironing (though it does look better on the rare times I - or more usually OH - get around to it.

Dee1224 · 26/07/2023 22:20

Hi all, just catching up with the thread after spending the day attempting to declutter the back room, (source of maybe moths…)

I had the Poppies crepe dress in my basket a few times, but just as I was about to buy - finally- it sold out! It looks so lovely on @Countmeout I am regretting missing out!

dudsville · 27/07/2023 06:59

Enjoying seeing the new stuff @Saurus72 , i agree with the others, the silhouette of the blue dress really suits you and i think the other would look just as nice with more of a belt, that clearly works well for you! And I can't see the skirt properly, though it looks more straight than the 2 a line ones i have (the wrap and ... a not wrap version?!), it's that right?

I'm enjoying all your viscose/crepe,etc., love! I doubt I'll get caught in that webb but i may well try one in a sale!

Struggling to know what to wear today. Calendar says summer dress, weather says cosy knit.

Laska2Meryls · 27/07/2023 07:56

Planned outfit change today for my day out (stormy weather here ) so it's full-on Toast Matelot for me today with linen jumper, panelled denim jeans and Steve Mono's ..
I'll look the part on the ferry!..

@Laska2Meryls Love a strong theme 😊

Saurus72 · 27/07/2023 08:20

@dudsville Yes much straighter and neater fitting. The wrap version from a couple of years ago is a staple wfh piece for most of the year whereas I don’t think this new one would’ve anywhere near as comfy for that. It’s lovely though, are you considering it?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/07/2023 08:23

Has everyone received the latest email from toast about the new 'Toast Reworn' initiative? Is this a good thing or just another attempt at increasing profits?
I am assuming things won’t be priced like the renewed items.

Snowyowl78 · 27/07/2023 08:24

I like your nautical outfit @Laska2Meryls

interesting email from toast today about their ‘circular’ activity. I am excited, though reserve judgement until I see the prices on the pre-loved stuff. Does seem like a money maker for them if the donator isn’t getting anything back- that’s how I read it anyway. Saying that I’d be in the market for some second hand clothes if they are nicely priced. I’m not sure why someone would donate resell-able toast clothes unless they were very well off and couldn’t be bothered with Vinted/eBay.

mizu · 27/07/2023 08:29

@Snowyowl78 DD1 has just said the same to me when I showed her the email. Why donate 'almost new' TOAST clothes when you could swap or sell? Will there be an incentive?

Snowyowl78 · 27/07/2023 08:33

@mizu doesnt seem to be. Made me laugh though- there is no limit to the number of items or the number of times you can donate! Why, thank you!

I guess is the same people who donate designer clothes to charity shops?!

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 08:41

Love that necklace @Laska2Meryls and meant to say earlier that I really liked yours from the other day@ilovecherries

I have just read the ‘give us your really nice clothes and we’ll sell them and keep the money for ourselves’ email - weird, just really really weird!

Also, there seems to be an acknowledgment that most of what people bring to exchange at Circle events isn’t very good, (which has certainly been my sister’s experience on her circle visits).

I would have thought a better idea would be: ‘Got a fantastic piece that you can’t be bothered selling? Sell it to us for a 50% off a full price item voucher on any item up to the value of £150, (or similar).

Now that, I could get behind!

Laska2Meryls · 27/07/2023 08:43

Eh wot? You donate for free and, they make more money selling on your item? .. Bonkers, who'd do that? I am certainly not rich enough to generously re-enrich a business.. (would rather donate my things to a charity I support like- local hospice etc) ...
Surely though you should get ' credits' for your donation though ( and decide if you are going to accept the offered ' credit price' ..( I think that they do that at Thought, is it? Who re-sell on ebay) .. it would be good if the credits also were able to be used for new purchases .. Then Id do it.. id even pay postage...

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 08:44

Indeed @Snowyowl78 - but Toast is a big business, in it for max profits, (no matter what they like to pretend). At least if you donate your Chanel to a charity shop it’s for a good cause😹

AFingerofFudge · 27/07/2023 08:49

Imagine! They'll "let" us donate them back free of charge!! Why thank you, that's so generous!!

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 08:49

@Laska2Meryls - Toast need to be careful- I can see people donating their nice stuff, thinking - wrongly - that the money is going to charity, (like the pop up from last year!) By mentioning Traid, they have certainly planted the subliminal suggestion it’s for charity - not to increase Toast’s profits!

I really hope that any ambiguity or potential for misunderstanding is a mistake on Toast’s part, not a deliberate plot to mislead.

AFingerofFudge · 27/07/2023 08:50

I have just watched the Toast live that I missed when working. I am warming to some pieces which is very dangerous ......

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 08:51

Just buy them, then give them back to Toast for free after a few weeks to resell@AFingerofFudge 🤣🤣🤣

Laska2Meryls · 27/07/2023 08:51

This means we retain full visibility of how our pieces will be assessed and used on the next stage of their journey.

Once we have sorted and graded your previously loved pieces, we will find a new use for every item.

Perhaps it'll be like adopting a cat or dog where any Reworn you buy items will never be fully yours and they will check up for updates on their health and condition every do often !!🤣
Oh.. but they are generously donating 10% of the resale price to charity 😧

Dee1224 · 27/07/2023 08:53

Just read the email again - honestly, if it was April 1st, I would think it was a wind up, (except I find Toast quite a humourless organisation, generally 🤣).

Laska2Meryls · 27/07/2023 08:55

Its Thrift .. not Thought who give credits and resell on bay water
