Looks like we ran out of space - welcome to a shiny new thread! (the 36th edition!)

Hope you approve of the title. 😁

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

@mdinbc Thank you for the recommendation.
I haven’t been able to get into town for some serious shopping as I have been tucked up in bed with the lurgy and all I have been inhaling is the joy of eau de Olbas Oil. I have spent some waking hours looking at Zara perfumes and reviews on Fragrantica, so time has not been wasted.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/10/2023 21:50

SOTD M&S Autograph Celestial Fig layered with M&S Autograph Plum Blossom. Have almost finished both so will get some more. I know M&S are still doing the Plum Blossom but not sure about the Celestial Fig.

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I'd forgotten about your post about Moulin Rouge 🤦‍♀️😂
Now I've found it again I think I want some!

@Cannotthinkofanametoday hope you feel better soon

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 14/10/2023 22:26

@TracyBeakerSoYeah I got really excited you mentioned it as I couldn’t remember the brand 🤗

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 15/10/2023 08:47

Thank you @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel @AprilLady @FestivelyScent @TracyBeakerSoYeah for the recommendations!

Magpiecomplex · 15/10/2023 12:21

SOTD is Molecule 01. I can smell it, which from the sound of it is a good start, but I'm not very enthusiastic about it. It's ok. Probably won't upgrade my sample to a big bottle.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 15/10/2023 23:23

SOTD Clarins Eau Dynamisante once again to keep me cool during 5 hrs of dance & singing practise today 🥵

AprilLady · 17/10/2023 09:46

@FestivelyScent I hope you are okay. I’ve noticed you haven’t posted in the last few days.

SOTD Tauer Incense Rose. I haven’t worn this for a while, and had forgotten how much I like it. Probably not office friendly, but I’m WFH today.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 17/10/2023 10:48

SOTD is Clinique Aromatics Elixir. I know this divides opinion but I absolutely love it. It's just so unapologetically itself 😁

I wear this when I want to feel grown-up, in control and maybe a tiny bit fierce. It is a true fuck-around-and-find-out perfume, but I also believe it to be utterly beautiful.

EvelynBeatrice · 17/10/2023 15:08

MissBattleaxe recommended Lalique Satine to me when I was looking for a woody and non sweet powdery make up but not baby powder type scent!@CrimsonElevenDelightPetrichor. I didn't like it initially but tried it again recently and like it very much. Either it has changed or I have!

Alondra · 17/10/2023 15:17

SOTD - Ives Saint Laurent Rive Gauche

Yesterday - Eau de Rochas.

Magpiecomplex · 17/10/2023 20:46

Shalimar today.

Cannotthinkofanametoday · 18/10/2023 10:05

Ffern Autumn 23 today and it is growing on me but it is very subtle.
I have ordered some samples and a couple of dupes, so very excited!

CrimsonElevenDelightPetrichor · 18/10/2023 14:22

4160 Eau My Soul today. Amber woody. A bit sweet for my usual taste, but hitting the spot today.

Magpiecomplex · 21/10/2023 09:56

Guerlain Pamplelune today, to help me through what might be a difficult day, with a migraine on top.

FestivelyScent · 28/10/2023 23:43

I'm baaack! I hope everyone is okay?

I went on holiday and didn't have time to use the Internet or email much, so took a break from mumsnet.

Thank you @AprilLady for checking in! I'm okay, just more tired after my holiday than before!

It was a great time though. We went to Yorkshire, and the weather was freezing but perfect every day we were there, but our coming home day was a day of biblical rain, and the East Coast Mainline was flooded in two places. Cue chaos! No way to get back home to London.

Stuck on a train (with very kind, patient staff) for nearly five hours at York, before a grand tour of the pennines to Manchester (that train was delayed too) before a passenger became sick on our West Coast mainline express to London. We had to wait ages for a medical evacuation for that lady in the middle of Northamptonshire and I hope she is now fully recovered. Then the lift was broken at St Pancras.

Honestly, anything that could go wrong, did. But everyone, passengers and staff, were so kind and patient, that our twelve hour journey through the north of England (!) strangely didn't feel like an ordeal, but actually seemed a really lovely experience showing the positive side of humanity, and being all stuck in the same boat, everyone helped each other. I've never met so many lovely people in one day.

Arrived home at midnight exhausted though and it's taken me a week, and I'm still recovering!

Also, stop press! I didn't wear a drop of scent the whole week I was away. That's never happened before, let me tell you. Ever.

SOTN tonight though is Samsara, and yesterday was Spellbound. Don't forget to do the clocks tonight. It's properly autumnal, now. I'm so pleased.

That was so unlucky with the weather on the way back, @FestivelyScent but glad the other people were nice.

So clocks have changed (although not for my cat, so early morning wakeup here).

SOTD: I have some samples from 4160 Tuesday and SOTD is the orange tree which is a very lovely and quite long lasting orange.

Magpiecomplex · 01/11/2023 18:28

@Pigeon31 The Orange Tree is lovely, I'm quite a fan.

Sotd is Shalimar to cheer me up in the horrible weather!

TheGander · 01/11/2023 18:47

Hello everyone. Does anyone know what is going on at Guerlain? On the official website there are no perfumes, only EDT. I have been trying to talk myself into finally purchasing a bottle of Vol de Nuit perfume ( the EDT is completely different and a bit of an anticlimax) but it just doesn’t seem to be available anywhere. Sorry if this has already been discussed upthread.

FestivelyScent · 01/11/2023 23:42

Hope everyone is okay. I've not been able to wear scent as much recently due to migraines. I initially thought perfume didn't affect them, but my head has been very sensitive recently. Thankfully, it's not a complete scent ban (I don't think I could cope with that!) and I can wear things every now and again.

I think the VDN is currently only available as an edt @TheGander . This has been the case since Guerlain repackaged their classics. I've not smelled the Edp, but was completely underwhelmed by the edt, I agree.

Love Shalimar @Magpiecomplex !

SOTN is Amber Absolute.

TheGander · 02/11/2023 08:12

Oh dear @FestivelyScent . That is sad news indeed. What are they thinking of?

TheGander · 02/11/2023 08:12

I hope your migraines resolve.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/11/2023 17:30

SOTD Nishane Hacivat

@FestivelyScent hope you manage to get your migraines under control soon.
My friend used to get them really bad & it turned out that the TMJ that was causing them was because she was grinding her teeth in the night.
Her dentist sorted her out with some sort of mouth/tooth device to stop her doing that.
It took a little while but it worked & she doesn't get the migraines now.

FestivelyScent · 02/11/2023 23:06

Thank you @TheGander and @TracyBeakerSoYeah I live in constant hope that they will just disappear as quickly as they came on. What's probably more likely is that from the constant stream of different medications my neurologist asks me to try, one will eventually turn out to be effective. Fingers crossed, anyway.

That's an idea @TracyBeakerSoYeah I've not considered jaw or teeth issues as a cause yet. Will have to ask my dentist at my next appointment. Especially as I did recently have a very painful jaw joint, and couldn't chew properly for about three or four days.

SOTN is shortly to be Amber Absolute. It didn't irritate my head yesterday, so hopefully will be okay again today.

TheGander · 03/11/2023 18:42

Just an update on Vol de Nuit the perfume. I emailed Guerlain and it is available in Paris, if not in the U.K. or on the website.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/11/2023 19:50

SOTD Zara Red Temptation which is a dupe of Baccarat Rouge.
The Zara RT smells a bit more almondy & metallic when I put it on. But after a few hours it smells just like BR albeit a weaker version.
