Looks like we ran out of space - welcome to a shiny new thread! (the 36th edition!)

Hope you approve of the title. 😁

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Gorgeous puss!!!

He’s a wee monkey but we love him!

@TracyBeakerSoYeah i am desperate to try that - almost blind bought it for Black Friday but it was out of stock.
SOTD is Le Labo Lavande 31. Delightful.

Sorry, I popped up then disappeared again. RL does not like me atm. So I’m catching up on a few posts.
@FestivelyScentsorry you have been suffering too. Please feel free to PM me if you want re possible lupus as I have something similar and empathise with the “getting doctors to act” part!

There seems to be a few of us with changed tastes re scent (and in RL). I know mine wasn’t Covid related but wonder if it’s the reason behind some as it definitely seems to be prevalent. And this time of year used to be peak time for bringing out, and enjoying, the stronger smelling perfumes. Chanel 19 is definitely still a favourite here too (although I’m eking mine out and it will have to be replaced by Yardley Jade!) Even Obsession doesn’t smell pleasant to me, and I have a bottle of the vintage OG which I know has been beautiful in previous years, and it’s been stored safely in the dark! I’m almost scared to try Shalimar and Opium which are my Christmas scents.

I am also finding I want to dab or use rollerballs, I’m finding sprays a bit too much (unless it’s teeny tester bottles where one single drop comes out no matter how hard you press the spray thing down!

I have put my A/W perfumes out but can’t seem to get on board. I keep reading the love for Angels Share (?) by Kilian so have ordered the Perfume Parlour dupe as it sounds lovely. Funnily enough, this time of year I usually love Karma by Lush but that’s also too overpowering atm. I actually have the PP dupe of this in a rollerball oil, and that smells so much nicer as you can apply a tiny bit.

I don’t know. Maybe I just need a dancing cat Grin I do have cats but now I’m feeling they’re also a bit deficient as they don’t dance! They are all very good at pulling little tags off nice fluffy blankets though Hmm by kneading for what seems like hours before they lie down somewhere really awkward or uncomfortable eg right at the top of my chest or my feet .

I haven’t decided on a SOTD yet. Possibly Aramis (I seem to be enjoying aftershave funnily enough. DS always smells nice!)

StillFloofyButWithLessScentSense · 07/12/2024 07:27

That’s a point actually - is anyone finding they are smelling perfume on other people and thinking “ooh that’s nice” but just can’t (I wanted to say “get into the groove” then but it looks ridiculous typed out BlushGrin) wearing/smelling perfume on yourself? DD has got into Marks and Sparks perfumes and she always smells gorgeous too. I can’t remember what fragrance house is behind the M & S scents but they seem to be well on point atm (today is obviously the day for me typing bizarre phrases! In my defence I’ve only had about 45 mins sleep).

I hope anyone in the storm areas is OK btw, some scary scenes on the news. @Judystilldreamsofhorses I hope you and Dancing Cat are OK, you’re in that area IIRC.

Happy New Year all. Hope your Christmases were beautifully scented 😊

Just to update from upthread, I got Glossier You Doux from DH for Christmas. I'd actually asked him for the other one (Reve) but he got confused and I'm really glad he did! Doux is really lovely....soft and ethereal and a perfect winter fragrance. I think anyone that likes the OG would be a fan.

Happy New Year to all the Lovely Friendly Perfumistas!

Had a bit of a clear out yesterday, and was looking for bottles to re-home. Didn't find many to part with, although I had to chuck a bottle of Lyn Harris' La Poudre as it had turned bad (rare to lose a bottle like this).

In having a bit of an impromptu sniffing session I did realise how many Miller Harris' I really love this time of year, including La Fumie, Tender, Burj Rose, Rose Noir and Craft and Glamour.

Was resniffing some Aldi cheapies including Intense Passion which is said to be similar to Angels Share and is thoroughly enjoyable. I also picked up a bottle of Classic Italia just before Christmas which is a lovely summery citrus cologne style fragrance.

Belated Happy New Year to all my fellow perfumistas!!! 🍾🥳🎉

Thank you @StillFloofyButWithLessScentSense for your kind words. I've actually had a mini break through in that I've manged to secure a proper GP appointment - face to face and everything - next week in order to discuss a rheumatology referral. So things might finally be moving for me. 🤞

I agree with everyone who feels certain scents don't smell quite the same. I tried some Obsession the other day and it just smelled like burnt sugar. I have put the bottle at the back of my cupboard for now, and am hoping this will not turn into a trend with other favourites.

Was coming on to report that SOTD yesterday was Chanel No5, just a light dab, for a shopping trip. And it didn't irritate my head, so slow progress is being made. How I enjoyed being engulfed in its powdery sandalwood base, after so long. Might try some Ambre Sultan next. 😊

Not sure if it was on these pages that DG & D perfumes (I think that is the name) but now all is quiet about this brand!

Anyway, I loved Cowboy Grass. I am now on the Juliette has a gun testers and I do love Juliette.

Deathraystare · 18/01/2025 15:14

Oops forgot to say I am back on the DG&D and am using Rose Atlantic. I don't mind rose in perfume if it is not too full on and I think it is tempered by the -what shall we call them ozoney notes? Don't normally like things smelling of the sea (other than the sea naturally) as I find those perfumes watery but this one was ok. Not sure how long it lasted.

FestivelyScent · 18/01/2025 18:12

Waves to @Deathraystare 👋😊

SOTD is Ambre Sultan. First time I am trying this old favourite in a long, long, looong while.

I think it is DG &D?? again. Well whatever make it is the lusting for sun??? As I put it on it smelt very nice - one of those 'your skin warmed in the sun' type fragrances There- you didn't know that was the technical term, did you???!!! I cannot smell it on me now but I expect it is still on me.
