Hope you approve of the title. 😁

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Thank you 😊

We are off to the theatre tonight for his bday treat 🎟🎼🎵🎶

Sotd 4160tuesdays Oh, Canada! 🥃🍁

Alondra · 25/09/2023 11:40

DH gave me.on our anniversary last week, a perfume I've wanted to try for a long time. I've had it in my hand over the years but couldn't justify the expense....and oh how I love it.....it's everything I expected and more. It lasts all day and the fragrance is unique. It's expensive and probably better suited for the after 40s market. But who knows? Taste in fragrances is as unique as the individual choosing them.

Eau du Soir by Sisley.

Jackydaytona · 25/09/2023 15:31

Eau de soir is beautiful 😍

FestivelyScent · 25/09/2023 23:02

Welcome to the thread @Alondra 👋😊 Eau du Soir is indeed a very beautiful chypre.

SOTN is Vanilla 28. Suitably warm and autumnal.

Oops. Forgot to add - hope you had a lovely time at the theatre @Jackydaytona What did you see?
I love the theatre, probably more than I love cinema, tbh.

Just back!
We saw "Everyone's talking about Jamie"
Really great show, recommended! 👏👏👏

mdinbc · 25/09/2023 23:26

I just bought myself Devotion by Dolce and Gabana. It's not a brand I would normally even consider, but I was looking for a fall frangrance and the woman at the fragrance counter was very helpful. I usually like fresh citrus or tea notes, but wanted something warmer for fall. She went to the back to get this one out, saying it had just come in.

It's really lovely; soft, with citrus top notes and vanilla base notes. I was going for a daytime 'oh, you smell cozy' type. It was expensive, but I had points to use.

Jackydaytona · 26/09/2023 13:37

Sotd Calvin klein obsession

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 26/09/2023 23:17

SOTD Liz Earle No15

FestivelyScent · 26/09/2023 23:40

Glad you had a great time @Jackydaytona I love Obsession! One of my favourite ever fragrances.

Those notes sound amazing @mdinbc I love cosy, comforting smells. They should be a perfume category all of their own.

SOTN is Samsara.

Thank you for the welcome. Fragrances are one of my weaknesses and the only frivolous expense I splurge money today (within reason).

I probably have 12-14 bottles on my dresser. Some are dear favourites I've used since I was in my teens - like O by Lancome, others I discovered as an adult and love as much - Air by Loewe, Jean Paul Gaultier Classic for women or Oscar de La Renta's Sprit.

I won't mention the perfumes I don't like 😁

Jackydaytona · 27/09/2023 11:12

Oh, lordy 😃
I'm up to about 50 full bottles
About 100 samples

Atm, I'm only planning to repurchase 4160tuesdays clouds Illusion ⛅️

If anyone is interested in 15mls of 4160tuesdays pirate queen pm me 😊☠️⚔️

Alondra · 27/09/2023 13:15

WOW! 50 bottles! I'm in awe.😍

I don't want samples these days (I'm old). I prefer to get a smell from a tester on a stick. If I don't like it, I don't buy....and it's becoming rarer for me to try new perfumes.

Eau de Soir is the latest one on my dresser in years.

The problem is I use up a bottle, then immediately replace it 🤔🙄
Lots of them are 15 ml bottles though...(excuses....excuses...)

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 27/09/2023 17:46

SOTD Coach - Coach New York - it smells very like Angel Nova which my DD lives in, if you know what I mean 😆 Though her back up is Maison Crivelli Hibiscus Mahajad, which she purloined from my John Lewis Christmas Beauty Box - well I let her have it as it just smelt on me like I'd fallen in a big vat of Turkish Delight.

Another wow @Jackydaytona 50 bottles!
I'm more like @Alondra with 12 bottles on my dresser & I have 40 different perfume samples so far.

There's a very good logic about having lots of different perfumes because if you have more they last longer 😆

Jackydaytona · 27/09/2023 18:36

I had thought it was time to get my autumn/winter heavy hitters out but....supposed to be a warm October so...🤔😕

I just want frosty crisp mornings please and no more of this moist nonsense

mdinbc · 27/09/2023 18:42

Wow, that's a lot of bottles going! I generally have one daytime fragrance and an evening 'going out' one. My evening fragrance is Shiseido Zen Secret Bloom, which I've had for years, since I hardly wear it.

I purchase a new daytime fragrance whenever I run out, which tends to be seasonal. I had just finished Elizabeth Arden White Tea, but was looking for something more fall and winter, and the Dolce and Gabana Devotion really fits for a warm daytime fragrance.

FestivelyScent · 27/09/2023 23:15

I love that you know the exact number of FBs you've got @Jackydaytona Mine are not kept all in one place, and samples are separate again, so each collection looks a fairly reasonable size, and allows me to tell myself that I don't have many bottles, not really. I try not to do anything to disabuse myself of this notion. Ignorance, in this case, is bliss!

I do like to have a whole selection of fragrances for each season, though, to suit different moods, and weathers and occasions. I take great pleasure trying to match a fragrance to a particular occasion, even if it's just a normal shopping trip or watching TV. I've been doing this a bit less recently, though, as I haven't felt up to it.

SOTN is Miss Dior Originale, because it is rather mild here tonight.

Lalique's Satine today. Woody powder recommended by the lovely MissBattleaxe. I like it and it's very good for the Autumn which is well underway in Scotland.
I was having a bad day yesterday and treated myself to a miserly spray of 'my' favourite winter perfume of all time - the discontinued Estée Lauder Sensuous Noir. Anyone else like that one who can recommend anything similar? Many of the 'smell alikes ' recommended to me are likewise discontinued 😬

CrimsonElevenDelightPetrichor · 28/09/2023 18:30

@Jackydaytona pm'd you re: pirate queen, if it's still available.
I had a massive sort through of my samples and gave away all the ones I won't wear. I now only have 20 or 30 left, which is more manageable. I also sold a few full bottles I didn't like - mostly blind buys from tk maxx! My collection feels more 'curated' now.
