Hope you approve of the title. 😁

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

@TracyBeakerSoYeah

Now THAT is the news I've been waiting for. Thanks for the heads up.

SOTE YSL Libre my no1 perfume.
I adore this but some people say you can really smell the vanilla however I can't detect any vanilla smell just lots of orange blossom like you've stuck your nose in a Philadelphus bush (mock orange) mixed in with lavender & honey.
Its a very big scent but I always get compliments when I'm wearing it & also men like or want to wear it too.

I also love Libre - you're not alone :) I know the vanilla is there but I never think of vanilla as a key note; more the lavender, white florals and musk.

SOTD: vanilla woods

DramaAlpaca · 04/09/2023 19:20

I like Libre too, but for a feminine lavender fragrance I prefer Mon Guerlain.

SOTD Escentric Molecules 1
SOTN La Fumee d'Alexandrie, Miller Harris

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/09/2023 20:24

SOTD A La Lune - Santal Extreme
A very woody, heavy incense oud.
Very similar to YSL Nu as both perfumes smell like hot summer skin post sex & that honey earthy musky smell of bees collecting flower pollen.

Santal Extreme has gone into my favourites list

Sotd 4160tuesdays fluffy lemon top

SOTN is Miss Dior Originale. I can never get over how well this works in the heat.

Pfft. Here I was looking forward to autumn - all fluffy blankets and cosy smells - and now we have this awful heat. I thought we'd escaped the heatwaves this summer - it's going to be 30° or higher in London until Monday!

Anyway, SOTN is Shazam, to manifest autumn. It actually works quite well in these sticky, humid temps.

Totally agree @festivelyscent !!

I'd like the sun to go away now (not helped by the fact it makes me feel quite ill)

FestivelyScent · 06/09/2023 23:34

@Jackydaytona Yes! The sun really needs to go hide behind a cloud now. It makes me feel unwell, too, so I'm hiding indoors reading my book with the fan on full, though I realise I'm lucky to be able to do that.

In fact, I think I've become allergic to the sun - every time I go out when the UV level is high I get an awful rash on my cheeks (making myself sound attractive here!), despite a thick layer of spf50. Grrr. I keep meaning to see the Dr.

Can't wait for cooler temps on Tuesday!

sotd: I have a tester for J'Adore l'Or so trying that. If you like J'Adore, it's like that but more opulent and flowery (this one is nice but pricey).

Magpiecomplex · 07/09/2023 22:42

@FestivelyScent I'm allergic to the sun - I come out in highly attractive hives! Although suncream usually stops it for me. Could you be allergic to the suncream?

SOTD back to Guerlain Pamplelune to avoid attracting insects

FestivelyScent · 07/09/2023 23:31

Yes! The red patches look just like hives on my cheeks @Magpiecomplex That's an interesting thought about the spf. I've always used Ultrasun, and this allergy only came on this year, so I didn't think it would be that. I just put it down to poor health at first, until I realised it only came on when I went out. It's worth trying a new suncream just to check though, because as soon as the sun hits my face, I start looking like I've contracted scarlet fever!

SOTN is Shalimar. Firstly because it's one of my favourites and I haven't worn it in what feels life a long time, and secondly because I'm trying to really test out my new headache injection by subjecting myself to things that usually trigger an almighty migraine. Fingers crossed! 🤞

SOTD Acqua di Parma Peonia Nobile

CorneliaStreet · 08/09/2023 06:23

@FestivelyScent Could it be rosacea? Sun/heat can be a trigger for that. If it is, azelaic acid is really good.

I’ve been so boring with perfume recently as I’m trying to finish up various mini bottles that only have a little bit left in, mainly summertime things that I don’t want hanging around until next year. Looking forward to getting into more autumnal scents soon, but that’s not happening this week. It’s so hot! We normally get a nice sea breeze here, but not at the moment.

TheClitterati · 08/09/2023 10:46

I started the day with a long swim on a mirror calm sea - after not sleeping well for a few nights & waking up hot, its so nice to be cool & it was truly beautiful on the beach this morning. I stay cool for quite a while post swim which is lovely on these hot days. I hope to swim again at lunchtime too.

SOTD Foras, Ocean Tansy - its a lovely post sea swim scent.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 08/09/2023 12:55

Swimming today here too - heading down to the beach at 3ish as the tide should be coming in then. Coffee and cake on the beach with a friend, plus a dip, what could be better!

Wearing Philosykos at the moment but might change to Pierre Guillaume Entre Ciel et Mer later, as I'm Captain Obvious...

FestivelyScent · 08/09/2023 23:12

Ugh! I should sell tickets and charge admission to this flat as a sauna set in a uniquely homely environment, like those dining clubs at home that were fashionable a few years ago, only for connesuiers of stuffy houses. Could call it my side hustle and make some much needed spare cash (for perfume obvs).

I am very envious of those of you near the sea. London (even the edges) is horrible in the heat.

You know, I was pondering rosacea the other day @corneliastreet My mum suffers quite terribly, and this looks nothing like hers, but I suppose it takes different forms. Recently, I do seem to have a permanent undertone of redness to my cheeks.

(Mental note to self - book Drs appt).

SOTN is Miss Dior Originale. Cool, calm, collected and nothing like myself atm.

Hi Perfumistas. Ever come across Polly Dryden? I’m wearing The Muse for the day to see how I like it. Any others I should try?

TakeMeToKernow · 09/09/2023 13:11

I’m trying to attach a photo of the menu, but it’s not working. Pollydryden on Insta though.
