Looks like we ran out of space - welcome to a shiny new thread! (the 36th edition!)

Hope you approve of the title. 😁

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

@Jackydaytona I'm not too great at describing scents, but below is what 4160 say about "Up The Apple & Pears" - it was part of a crowdfunded series she did a few eyars ago - one for each season & I'm on my 3rd bottle.

I love that it's complex, layered, and it progresses throughout the day beautifully. It start off great and just gets better. I do tend to like scents that are green, woody & spicy.

"An unusual fragrance that evokes our idea of the scent of a London pub in 1933; apple pie, pear syllabub, gin, beer, roll-ups, wooden floor and bread rolls. Up the Apples & Pears also has its own mystery story, set in 1933, which you can download from our Facebook group 4160Tuesdays News. The YouTube vlog Maximilian Knows named this the most daring scent. Number one in Max's top ten daring scents. It has a very small number of superfans, so we'll keep on making it."

Thank you!
I'm very tempted

if you search "Maximilian Knows 4160" on YT he does a proper review of "Up the Apple & Pears" perfume on there.

He is the "Max" who collaborated with Sarah to make "Maxed Out" which is one of my very favourite perfumes.

It doesn't appear to be available anymore :(

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 31/08/2023 19:15

I had a sample of Up the Apples and Pears a few years ago. It always smelled like gin and mouldy bread on me! Then again I didn't get on with Maxed Out either, so...

It is definitely one of Sarah's more 'out there' creations!

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 31/08/2023 19:26

Someone on one of the early Perfumista threads used to wear Up the Apples & Pears as her bedtime fragrance...was that you @TheClitterati? 😉

I was on some of the earlier threads but I don't think that was me. 😁

Thank you 😊

No sotd today for me which is VERY unusual 🤔

So I've just spritzed myself with vanilla and sandalwood body spray

FestivelyScent · 31/08/2023 23:25

SOTN is Samsara. It feels like autumn here, too, and fluffy blankets may have made an appearance this evening. Timely, as tomorrow is the beginning of meteorological autumn! I'm planning out my autumn perfumes and wondering if it's too early to switch the collections around. It's supposed to warm up a bit next week, though, so I might wait.

SOTD is Clarins Eau Extraordinaire
Got it as a freebie with a Clarins order & really like it.

Magpiecomplex · 01/09/2023 21:13

@LadyOfTheCanyon those both sound interesting, I'm a big fan of cloves! Although SOTD for me today is the men's Cool Water, which I am liking a lot

FestivelyScent · 01/09/2023 23:15

SOTN is Spellbound, for the first day of meteorological autumn. I'd originally filed this away as a spring scent, but I think its warm spicing and hint of balsam make it more comfortable amongst the russet colours of autumn than the bright cheerfulness of spring.

SOTE YSL Libre my no1 perfume.
I adore this but some people say you can really smell the vanilla however I can't detect any vanilla smell just lots of orange blossom like you've stuck your nose in a Philadelphus bush (mock orange) mixed in with lavender & honey.
Its a very big scent but I always get compliments when I'm wearing it & also men like or want to wear it too.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 02/09/2023 06:59

@Magpiecomplex Have you tried Serge Lutens Des clous pour une pelure ?

Smells like a clove studded tangerine at Christmas. I love it. Very much a winter scent though.

Magpiecomplex · 02/09/2023 09:38

@LadyOfTheCanyon I haven't tried that one, I'll add it to my list to look out for, thanks!

Magpiecomplex · 02/09/2023 12:02

Looks like it might be discontinued @LadyOfTheCanyon 😕
But in the process of searching for it I realised Serge Lutens does a carnation scent too, Vitriol d'Oeillet, and I've ordered a sample.
SOTD is Via Camerelle by Carthusia. It's a very light summery floral - I'm trying to hang on to summer!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 02/09/2023 12:19

Ooooo nooooo! I saw a bottle in Liberty the other day. I'll have to snaffle it as an early Christmas present!

Alazne58 · 02/09/2023 15:57

SOTD Fashionably London - ZARA , very lovely perfume.

CorneliaStreet · 02/09/2023 16:12

Has anyone tried Burberry Goddess yet? Part of me likes the sound of it as I’ve heard it’s lavender/vanilla like Mon Guerlain, which I love, but part of me is put off by the name, the godawful adverts and the general Burberry-ness of it (snobbish, I know).

LadyOfTheCanyon · 02/09/2023 17:54

SOTD is Origins Ginger essence. I was really sorry that they discontinued this - I love a straightforward zingy perfume from time to time and I found a bottle on Vinted at a decent price - it's going for a LOT on eBay!

FestivelyScent · 02/09/2023 22:58

SOTN is Ambre Orient.

Love Ginger Essence.

SOTD Papillon Anubis.

Deathraystare · 03/09/2023 11:43

Dior's Hypnotic Poison today. Well I used an almondy shower gel so thought I would continue the theme! Mmmm lovely!

Alazne58 · 03/09/2023 13:40

SOTD Cherry Smoothie - ZARA

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 03/09/2023 17:51

SOTD Lancome Idôle

Loved Origins Ginger Essence, especially the the fluffy bath stuff they did in a tub.

And guess what @LadyOfTheCanyon & @TakeYourHatOffBoy

https://m.origins.co.uk/product/15360/10484/bath-body/sensory/ginger-essence/sensuous-skin-scent#/sku/22426|undefined1

They've reintroduced it or a new version of it
