Sample of the day Dubai Gold Bond No 9 perfume - a fragrance for women and men 2017 (fragrantica.com)

It's really nice, another woody one, but quite a boozy smell because of the brandy. I'd buy this if it wasn't absolutely extortionately expensive!

SOTN Samsara. As usual, I'm fed up of this heat and can't wait for it to break tomorrow. It is so close and airless here, I long for a stiff coastal breeze. Was marvellous by the sea last week, even though it was a hot day, the sea air was so refreshing.

Often in the height of summer my skin doesn't hold scent at all and I give up wearing all but a few. I've not had that problem this year and there are plenty of sea breezes- I live on the coast.

It's a rose scent, which I am a sucker for, but it's quite tart, I think it's the rhubarb top note? It's lovely, quite complex. Another one I'd be tempted to buy, so a good sample to try out!

@TheClitterati Through the summer, I am always envious of people who live by the coast - because of the fresh sea air! Here in London, it was so humid and still today despite being supposedly cooler, even right on the edge of the city where I am. Scent doesn't normally hold up on my skin during the summer either, but like you, that's not been such a problem for me this year.

SOTN is Ambre Orient.

SOTD Penhaligons Luna. Not worn it for a while and delighted to discover I can smell it again now. I'd got desensitised to it last winter so decided to give it a break

I thought Vanille Fatale very weird too, @BecauseWeCanCanCan It didn't smell of vanilla at all to me, and I actually had to throw away the testing strip I'd sprayed as I could smell the thing everywhere I turned. I couldn't even describe what it did smell of now, all I remember is how odd it was. I think bitter is right though, it reminded me a bit of that musty odour attics get when they've been closed up for a long time.

It's odd, because I like Tom Ford usually - and why is it that perfumes you don't like last for ever??? Musty attics is about right!

Today's SOTD is Royal Oud by Creed. Gorgeous perfume - very oud again, but smells luxurious and expensive, not too sweet either. Really like this one.

I used to love Rive Gauche, but the new formulation just isn't the same Sad

I need to try Ego Stratis, it's one of the few JHAG fragrances I haven't sampled.

@Jackydaytona we certainly seem to have similar taste in 4160T fragrances!

SOTD is Cuir Cannage by Dior. This is absolutely gorgeous, goes on amazingly well, it's leathery and woody, and really very very wearable. I love this one, it has a rose overtone. And you know what? It's been discontinued by the look of it. Typical!
