I was trying to smarten up my winter wardrobe- I got a long dark grey wool belted coat on vinted…I wasn’t too sure I liked it as it was a bit dressing gown-esque…also itchy round the neck..
Then when I put it on to go out my 24 year old son drawled ‘why are you dressed like Liz Truss’ so I hastily took it off again!!

I often have a mismatch between my intended look and the actual reality, most recently realised had recreated the "Suzi Quattro's fat nan " look made famous by another thread (purchased a leather biker jacket)

Wore a military style navy coat to a vintage railway.....was asked departure times, where the toilet is etc. Clearly looked like a member of staff. The Fat Controller probably 😭

About 12 years ago I bought a reddish brown fake fur vest, expecting a cool, chic boho look.

I looked like a squirrel who'd eaten its entire winter reserves before the end of September.

Just about everything I buy I'm 5'3" and a size 16 and I'm often shocked not to look like the 5'8", size 8 model when buying clothes off the internet

I needed this thread this evening. I have a few floral / patterned midi dresses in my online shopping basket that I’m about to delete. I’ve fallen for it for the last three years or so.

I think I’ll look like the models on the website. They just make me look 10 years older and a stone heavier. In my head I’m still 22 and look like a young Liv Tyler. In reality, I’m more Kat Slater.

I have no luck buying coats... bought myself a ski jacket one winter from a proper winter sports shop. Ah, I thought, I will look sporty yet warm. Nope, the jacket is red and all I look like is Hayley Cropper.

This time went for a puffa jacket, chose a light silver as I'm often out early mornings and dark evenings, definitely nailed it this time! Nope again, I look like a Zorb ball
