Helen Mirren long hair

So, what do we think about Helen's long hair. Personally, I love it but is she too old, and where did that outdated idea come from anyway?

no, she isn’t too old and can have her hair whatever way she likes. That said, I prefer her hair shorter. I am wondering if it’s long as she’s been filming 1923.

A lot of women cut their hair short when they get older because it tends to go thin and wispy. Helen Mirren freely admitted it’s not her own hair, it’s hairpieces.

She can wear her hair and clothes however she wants, but I don’t think she looked very elegant.

If you think it's an "outdated idea" why are you asking whether or not she's too old?

what happens if a woman defies the ‘too old’ rule? Burned at the stake?

@SoupDragon because it's been drilled into me by MIL for years that ladies of "a certain age" shouldn't have long hair.
I'm now at that age and still have long hair. I'm not cutting it! Was just interested in others opinion.

I love long hair on older women, partly because it's so unusual. Helen Mirren looks stunning whatever her hair length.

No she isn't too old. It looks nice in the photos where she is in the black dress. Personally I don't think the ones where it's slapped back are very flattering and she would look better with bit of hair around the face but I am in my 40's and think the same about my own hair so not really an age thing, more what suits your face. She doesn't look quite as cool with the long hair. I certainly don't think it makes her look older, she looks older because she has actually got older since the last time I saw photos of her.

My DM likes to keeps telling me I should get a nice, sensible short haircut, like hers. I’m apparently too old for long hair now…… I’m 45 🙄. I plan on keeping my hair long forever (since I’d look shocking with short hair), so I’ll probably be getting shortlisted for that stake burning before my next birthday!

It's beautiful hair but I just think it suits her better shorter, I'd probably think that whatever age she was though

Is it her hair or extensions / good wig?! if it’s her hair she’s got amazing condition on it.

Sadly, the idea of short hair over a certain age is it’s harder to keep hair looking good long over a certain stage.

She doesn't have the face for long hair, nothing to do with her age though.

I think it’s a big mistake. She looks so nice with shorter hair.

I don't think it suits her as well as shorter hair which looks divine on her.
This is not about age, as I think Jerry Hall looks sensational with her long locks.
Some faces and bodies just suit shorter hair better.

I muuuuuch prefer her shorter hair. Looks far more chic. She's got a long face and the long hair makes it longer.

@ipswichwitch who wants sensible. I sometimes wonder if that opinion stems from jealousy. My MIL has never had long hair and seems to view anyone that has a tart. I presume that includes me. I have naturally very blonde hair, when it's short, I either look like a boy or have no hair at all. 🤣

Maybe she likes having her hair long and has been around long enough not to care whether a bunch of randomers think it doesn't suit her.

I have shoulder length hair,very thick and a bit curly.
Hair has no age limit

I'm mid fifties with waist length hair and will keep it this long forever.

Anyone who says I'm too old for it would quickly be told to mind their own business.

As for Helen Mirren, I think she looks fabulous with long or short hair, lucky lady carries both looks off wonderfully.
