Helen Mirren long hair

So, what do we think about Helen's long hair. Personally, I love it but is she too old, and where did that outdated idea come from anyway?

Helen Mirren is so beautiful, the long hair gives me Elfin Lord of the Rings vibes. I love her hair short though but why not change it up occasionally.

I love this look. Together with the dress and the makeup, she looked liked a starlet from the golden age of Hollywood.

But then, I love long hair. I'm 40 and mine covers my boobs. It's still pretty soft and shiny so I've no plans to cut it yet.

She's not breaking any rules because there are no rules. There's no legislation that says you have to cut tour hair short when you are 50.

She's so elegant she can carry off any hair style but I think she looks incredible with shorter hair. Not an age thing, I just prefer shorter hair generally, I think it's such a powerful look for a woman. Unfortunately I have super curly hair and don't have that cute elfin face which could carry it off, so short would be really tricky for me, otherwise I'd chop my hair off in a blink.

She's not too old for long hair, just suits it shorter ime. She was on Graham Norton a couple of weeks ago, with the top part pulled back off her face. It wasn't very flattering; too severe.

Surely old ladies/short hair is a relatively recent thing? Didn't most 'old ladies' wear their hair in plaits, buns, complicated updos, etc, until the 40s/50s - which would have required a certain length to achieve?

I like it better shorter, but only because I think it suits her better. But no, no, no to being too old. Never! Sometimes it's good to change your look, even if it's not the one that suits you most. A change is as good as a rest.

What is it about ladies of a certain age and their utter horror about long hair 😂 Mil visibly shudders when a woman over 20 with long hair appears on tv and talks constantly about dd’s hair and mine.

I'm actually indifferent to Helen Mirren. I know she's always spoken of as one of the greats...but I don't really see it, think she's overrated. She'll be devastated to learn.

I think the longer hair is very ageing on her. She looks great with shorter hair.

I don't think that you can be 'too old' to have a particular hairstyle, she can do a she pleases.

However, personally, I think that the long hair is unflattering. It makes her look a lot older. This is perhaps why most older women choose to have shorter hair.

I have to admit, in Bandanadrama's photo, her hair is perfection. Though I really like her long hair too. I want to know how she got it to grow that fast because at 51, my hair growth is on like a 30 year mortgage. I made the mistake of cutting it jawline-length ages ago and I want it long again. But that may not even happen by the 2030 Olympics. God I miss being young, when your hair and nails would grow back to Guinness World Records length within hours of cutting them!
