Helen Mirren long hair

So, what do we think about Helen's long hair. Personally, I love it but is she too old, and where did that outdated idea come from anyway?

On the other hand, I think Diane Keaton (who also happens to be 77) is someone who looks better with longer hair than short.

My usually short hair grew in lockdown and I've kept it. I love it and so does my immediate family (they were the ones encouraging me to keep it). It's long and white (I stopped dyeing my hair about 10 years ago).

I'm late 50's and keeping it for as long as I can.

I love long white hair. My seventy year old friend has it, so beautiful. White hair has a snowy shimmer to it that catches the light.
My hair sadly refuses to grow so I have short hair not by choice.

That’s pretty much what I look like - larger pic on left. I’m only 60 though and not tall.

Lucky you kissed! Her hair is lovely. I think if your hair is in good condition and not thin it can look great.

I think she looks fantastic - very classic.

I she looks more striking with shorter hair though.

I think long hair is great at any age as long as its in fabulous condition.

I saw her on Graham Norton on Friday night, and took me a bit to get used to her; mainly because she’s almost always got shorter hair. I think she always looks great, and very elegant - but in my opinion she looks cooler and more stylish with it shorter.

Oh, and I say all that as a greying, mid 40s woman, with long hair. Mind you, I dye mine, because if I could be sure it would look beautiful and silver or white, it remains stubbornly witchy looking. 🤣

I have had a mum bob type style for about 15 years and have grown it long again at 60.

I don't think it suits her. Her shorter styles gave her more body on top, and I think her face needs that.

That's not to say it wouldn't suit someone else. I don't think it's the preserve of women under 50.

My grandad's sisters both had long, white hair even in their 90's. One kept it pinned up, and the other in plaits - she also refused to wear a bra! They both looked fabulous.

I really dislike the long hair on her. It doesn’t suit her face shape and it’s awfully ageing. For the avoidance of doubt, by that, I mean it makes her look much older than she would currently with a shorter style.

I’m not at all against older women with long hair. I often grow mine beyond bra back level. I just had about 4” cut off for Spring, but will probably grow it again. I just think Helen is one of the fortunate women like Jamie Lee Curtis, Julie Andrews, Rhianna and Frankie Bridge, to name a few, who look fabulous with a short style.

Regarding Helen Mirren......As for people saying long hair is ageing her, and people LOL-ing and saying 'but she is 77 anyway...' What it is, is that she looks like mid to late 60s with the shorter hair/choppy bob, so her usual hairstyle is flattering for her. With this long hair, she looks more like 80, so much closer (and slightly older) than her actual age. So, yes, the long hair is very ageing on her.

I think she looks lovely but to me she could wear a bin bag & still look beautiful & elegant.
That said, her short hair always looks very cool & sharp. I think it suits her more.

The hair is irrelevant but the constant facelifts are very obvious and she looks like a freak these days. Scary even

Too old? Catch yourself on. It's not age with hair, it's what suits you surely? I'm trying to grow mine from just past shoulder length down to boob length but it won't do it which I put down to being 43. I wish it would bloody grow. It looked it's best during the pandemic when I obvs couldn't get it cut and didn't have time to style it so just let it dry naturally (care home manager so was busy and frankly didn't care what I looked like). God know why I cut it. I could maybe try that again for 18 months and just put up with the odd looks I will no doubt get...

Anyway I digress. I like Helen's hair. Good for her.

I slightly preferred it shorter, but it also looks beautiful longer, and who cares what I think anyway? She’s gorgeous and, well, she’s Helen Mirren. She can do what the hell she wants!

I’m 46 with long hair and no plans yet to chop it all off. I don’t want a bob or a pixie cut. I like being able to wear my hair up or down.

On a tangent, had HM had a facelift?! I just saw her in the latest Shazam film (DS’s choice!) and she looked natural, looked her age but looked so beautiful, wrinkles and all.

From the pics on here i think i prefer her with it short. Women with beautiful bone structure and long necks like hers look so good with short sassy hair cuts.

I actually think the 'chop it off' approach suits a minority of women.

A bit of hair deflects from a less than chiselled jaw line and less than swan line throat. Like mine 😄
