I've caught the ear piercing bug and can't decide what to get done next. I currently have 3 lobe on my left and 4 lobe and tragus done on my right. Looking for inspiration.
Please show me your beautiful ears ☺️

Yay! Looks lovely. When did you get the flat done? I'm wondering how they are to heal?

So the flat was done last july and it still aches if I've slept on it or catch it but it's generally ok. I used to have a helix and tragus. Had to take the tragus out when i started my job due to safety which I'm gutted about as I really liked it and the helix never properly healed and kept weeping and got a bump on the back of my ear so let it heal over.

FunkyMonks · 26/02/2023 21:58

I'm starting to have issues already with my conch piercing and only had it done end of Jan 😬 due to go see the Piercer on weekend as I was suppose to have a jewellery change to slightly shorter bars for both the conch and helix.
It's kind of swelled up a little so not as much bar showing now and I've been careful this time making sure to sleep with a pillow with the hole as I'm a side sleeper.
Really hope this isn't a sign of things to come as this is the second attempt for me having a conch had to remove the last one after 4 months of it playing up 🤦🏻‍♀️.

I was also looking to get my rook pierced but shall see now 🤷‍♀️.

If you have a conch or rook how did it heal? I love the look but I'm a bit nervous on healing as the cartilage is so thick.

What we're your easiest / hardest to heal (of all)?

My rook going good so far. Only have it three weeks though. It isn't sore and doesn't get caught on anything. So I would recommend. Hoping the healing process continues like this. I haven't had any issues with other piercings so am being optimistic.

Is the Daith painful to get done? I'd like it in my other ear.

Really like seeing everyone's ears. They all look fab and good for inspiration.

I had to have mine pierced twice too as it wouldn’t heal. Even this time it went grim for a while but I persisted.

get it downsized and make sure you are cleaning daily and drying it thoroughly afterwards

don’t clean it too often either. Once a day / every couple of days is enough.

FunkyMonks · 28/02/2023 17:05

@Ratatatatatouille yea I'm hoping that if I persist this time it will eventually heal don't want to throw in the towel just yet.
I'm making sure it's always dried properly and not over cleaning it as I know that can cause issues trying to leave it alone.
Shall see what the Piercer says on weekend.

Swiftbushome · 28/02/2023 19:24

Hmm I've actually never dried any of my piercings. In the process of healing my tragus atm. Will make a conscious effort to.start drying it when I clean. Thanks for the tip.
Sort of accidentally smashed my ear in a gym class today with a slam bag. Slightly worried I've messed it up now. 😬 It bloody hurt when I did it but it seems OK now so fingers crossed. What a plonker.

Feeling a bit deflated. I went for a consult today to plan put my future piercings. I'm booked in for a flat (or maybe a double flat) piercing in 3 weeks but my plan was to let that heal and then get my daith done on the other side. But I don't have the right ear shape 😕
Apparently my "squishy bit" is too far forward so the hole would be too shallow. We've decided I'll get a conch done on that side instead eventually but I REALLY love the daith rings. Booooo

Oh no on the Daith. That's so disappointing when your ears won't play ball with your plans.

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 05/03/2023 14:52

Here’s mine, it’s really hard to get a good pic of your ear! I want a tragus next on my ear with the hoop helix.

Also can’t recommend enough buying ‘pillow with a hole’ version 2 - no seam edges to catch piercings on. Well worth the money, very comfy and means you can get new piercings in both ears and still be able to sleep! Before I discovered this pillow, I had to give up on 2 helix and forward helix piercings as I kept sleeping on them and they wouldn’t heal, they got too sore, had bumps and repeat infections requiring antibiotics. Only my conch survived. Since having the pillow my new helixes and forward helix have been fine from the outset, now approx 7 months old.

Well worth the money and so comfy.

look for piercers that stock junipurr, Invictus or anometal jewellery - pretty delicate ends but still high quality and affordable meeting industry standards.

I had mine pierced with Invictus jewellery and once I was able to swap bought some Maria Tash pieces.

Have fun OP, loving all the pictures!

Pickingmyselfup · 05/03/2023 15:46

Those of you with bumps..how did you get them to go?! My helix's are slowly settling down but they still have bumps that just won't shift.

Talking to a new piercer this week r.e. industrial and will see what she has to say. I need someone who is willing to be there through my troubles, my original piercer is no longer in the area and she stopped replying to my messages after a while, can't say I blame her because I do have a lot of trouble for some unknown reason.

FunkyMonks · 05/03/2023 16:17

It could be a few things that's cause the bumps sleeping on them irritation from hair products when washing your hair do you make sure the piercings have been rinsed to ensure nothing is on them like shampoo etc?

A reaction to the jewellery or even the jewellery being too long so it's catching on your hair or clothes.

Also if you over clean it can cause it to happen but the best person to advise you will be the piercer as they can have a look at what's happening and make the relevant suggestions I hope they settle soon for you.

BeansOnToast32 · 06/03/2023 17:54

Been lurking on this thread because I've got the piercing bug! Been desperate for a daith for years but I've been too scared, I was going to get it last week but chickened out and got my third lobes done instead. 😂

Yesterday I decided I was going to book in to get it done this morning and I only went and bloody did it. Smile I'm absolutely obsessed, had it done with the BVLA Amity Seam Ring in 14k gold. It's my first BVLA piece and now I want more.

I was so so nervous but my piercer was amazing, I thought it was going to be horribly painful after reading loads of other people's experiences online but it hurt less than my third lobes! I was honestly shocked when he said he'd put the needle through, I thought he was still testing the pressure for me. I didn't get any sharp pain or that burning throbbing feeling you usually get after a piercing. The only feeling I've had in it was a mild earache type feeling for about an hour that's it. I'm just hoping it heals ok now.

If you are thinking about getting it and have the right anatomy, do it.

Depends on the cause. Usually it’s not drying them after cleaning and irritation from sleeping on them. Sort those two things out and they’ll settle.

have you downsized?

is your jewellery implant grade titanium?

Also important.

I don't sleep on them and I haven't downsized because up until recently they were really swollen.

Going to see someone at the weekend to see what she thinks. I had to swap the helix studs for rings as one of them fell out and I was alone and couldn't get it back on and also the flat backs were disgusting with dried blood, scabs and hair.

My daith is having a flare up and driving me mad, I can constantly feel it, it's sore and giving me earache. It started being problematic after a few weeks when I forgot to clean it a few nights in a row and only did it in the morning. It settled then we did an upgrade but the ring was far too big and despite downsizing it's been troublesome on and off since then, so it's been a year since I had it done and 6 months since the upgrade.

Beautiful. I'm very jealous. I have stupid ears that can't take a daith piercing

Ahh sorry about that. ☹️

Do you think the best way to keep it dry after spraying with Neilmed is by using an hairdryer on low? Obviously it's not supposed to stay wet but if I'm poking it to dry it with anything else it'll get irritated.

Swiftbushome · 06/03/2023 20:47

Yes that's what I was told to do.

All your ears look lovely 😍 I don't even have my earlobes pierced anymore as I have quite big ears and I felt too self conscious to draw attention to them but you all inspired me to get my tragus pierced on a whim at the weekend. I'd wanted it for ages but kept talking myself out of it and telling myself I was too old but decided fuck it and I love it!

peachgreen · 06/03/2023 21:23

Here’s mine! Just the three lobes on the other side. I desperately want my tragus done but I sleep with earplugs and I worry I would never sleep again!

I love the amity ring/ends from BVLA. I had a double forward helix done on Friday and said to my piercer my ears are pretty full now but we decided we could pop an amity in the snonch (a new one on me, basically the bottom of the flat/top of the conch) but I’ll have to wait until the autumn to allow the forward helixes time to heal. I shall stare at yours in envy until then.

BeansOnToast32 · 07/03/2023 10:37

Lovely ear @peachgreen

@broccolibush hope you have speedy unproblematic healing so that you can add the Amity to your collection. Smile

Ear is amazing today, I wouldn't even know I'd had it done if it wasn't for the fact that I catch glimpses of it in the mirror. 😍 hope it continues like this.

Love a snonch. There’s only one piercer I follow who does them regularly. I wonder if it’s the same one.
