I've caught the ear piercing bug and can't decide what to get done next. I currently have 3 lobe on my left and 4 lobe and tragus done on my right. Looking for inspiration.
Please show me your beautiful ears ☺️

@Swiftbushome I want something on my lower inner arm. I think a tree branch with blossoms. I have other floral tattoos so I don't know if I'm overdoing the flowers 😆I like the sound of a greek goddess

FunkyMonks · 23/08/2024 21:12

How is everyone's piercings healing/doing?. I recently had to remove my helix was almost 2 years old and just wasn't healing would be fine for a month and then get a bump which would pop and go then come back etc I finally gave up and took it out and it's as though I never had it there no hole my body clearly didn't want it there.

I'm am now left with just my septum rook and conch which I've had issues on and off with my conch in the past think it's safe to say I'm done with piercings I also miss just being able to sleep on either side without stressing about causing irritations to the piercings.

I've also been getting more tattoos done than spending on piercings the amount I've spent on jewellery and piercings themselves to not be able to wear the nice jewellery because it's played up or I've just given up and taken it out doesn't seem worth it no more for me sadly I think I may buy those fake cuffs when ever I fancy looking like I've got a helix done 😂🙈

ilsalund · 23/08/2024 21:53

I had a third lobe done last December that has only just healed.
Newish Helix is up and down but I remember my other helix piercing took months to settle.
@FunkyMonks sadly, I think after two years its fair to say it probably wasn't going to heal
I really want a tragus but don't have the anatomy for it. Mind you, with seven piercings in one ear and five in the other perhaps it is time to just focus on being beautiful jewellery

Swiftbushome · 23/08/2024 23:12

Oh that's a shame @FunkyMonks. I've been lucky with most of mine I think. all seems to have healed and I can lay on them fine except for my forward helix which is almost a year old. It LOOKS healed but it still doesn't really feel it.
I agree though tattoos are easier. They heal so FAST.

@FunkyMonks my helix is the biggest pain in the arse. I’ve had it well over a year and it still does the same as yours. My others are ok apart from my fifth lobe that I’ve had a couple of months which has a huge bump.

im still considering a daith and septum.

I agree about tattoos being easier. I’ve got the bug now and am booked in for my third in a couple of weeks 😁

FunkyMonks · 24/08/2024 10:36

Tattoos are for sure easier once they have healed and take less time to heal, and I've been getting more tattoos myself lately in under a year I've had 6 new added to my currently growing collection of getting both my legs covered.
I am slightly annoyed with myself I use to have a helix piercing had it done when I was 11 years old with a piercing gun which I know is a big no no but it never caused me any issues healed like a dream and then when I was in my mid twenties decided to take that out along with a nipple piercing I should have just left it alone.

My septum healed like a dream no issues there and at least I can now change that and have a lovely solid gold with CZ in.
My conch and rook I'm not attempting to change them for at least another year or so to well and truly know they've fully healed before I spend money on jewellery for either as I've spent a fair bit and have then had to either give up or just go back to plain and simple I had to do that with my conch tried white gold hoop resulted in it getting bumps and hurting to swapping it back to a labret post and a flat disc at the front so looks boring and bland but leaving it well alone in hope that I can at least end up with rook and conch fully healed along with my septum and that's me done.

Sorry to hear as well @MintIcecreams that your helix is causing issues for you as well hopefully it will settle I think you'll know when it's time to give it up when you don't care about not having it.

Pickingmyselfup · 24/08/2024 19:22

I got my tongue redone by someone different, 2 weeks in and it's doing fine although I have yet to get it downsized.

I want my belly button doing again but I no longer have the stomach of an 18 year old. I look good in high waisted trousers and crop t shirts but lower waisted trousers will just make my c section pouch and muffin top glaringly obvious. Ironically I weigh less than I did an 18 but adulthood is a bitch.

Failing that I want a tragus to replace the one I took out, a second conch to make a double and another conch or 2 in the other ear. My rook is still taking it's time and my industrial is still a PITA to sleep on so I'm just waiting a bit before I get any more ears done. I would love another tattoo but I either want a spine or a shoulder and they are just so expensive that it's not doable.

Ah hope your tongue heals nicely this time. I like your ear plans! I was just thinking this morning that I want a conch in my other ear.

I can imagine the industrial is a pain to sleep on. I'm still sleeping on a piercing pillow as every time I try a normal one my helix hurts.

broccolibush · 27/08/2024 09:30

@FunkyMonks I’m on a bit of a similar trajectory as you. I took one helix out a while back because after 2 years it was still being beastly - oozy and sore and itchy - and now it’s gone I have a lovely bump on the back of my ear 😡

Once that one had gone my triple on the other side decided to start playing up and I’ve taken two of them out and had a bit of a reshuffle with the jewellery. I’m down 5 piercings and as the jewellery was all BVLA I dread to think how much money.

I’m also done and will be happy as can be if I can get this bump to go. I’ve been toying with tattoo ideas for a few years now but am not super happy with my body so until I get my brain under control on that front I think I’ll leave it.

FunkyMonks · 27/08/2024 10:39

@broccolibush I know how you feel I think some people are lucky in that their bodies will heal with no issues my DH jokes that he could have a piercing done with a rusty nail and it would heal faster than me and he's not wrong he's got a fair few and never had issues myself on the other hand it's a long bloody journey.
I think I'm just going to have to accept that I was fortunate to have my septum heal with no issues my rook and conch fingers crossed but still time for them to play up and that's me done I don't want to keep wasting money and effort if I'm just going to have to resort in taking them out or constantly dealing with issues.

Regarding your bump try base labs piercing bump treatment I used it on mine and I don't have the bump no more it helped it go down once the jewellery was removed that and I think my body was happy once I had finally decided to take it out it soon settled so I think that just shows how much my body was rejecting the piercing.

Honestly if there's any tattoos that you really love and want I say go for it I was never a big fan of my legs but since I've been getting them covered I like to have shorts on and skirts and dresses now to show my ink.

Swiftbushome · 30/08/2024 17:03

Right I'm finally ready to get my nostril pierced. How long does everyone wait after a piercing before swimming?
I'm in 2 minds whether to go this weekend or give it another couple of weeks in case we get a last blast of summer and my kids want me to take them to the pool...
I've wanted it for SO LONG. Couldn't get it earlier this year because I needed to get a wisdom tooth taken out, then I had that done in May and didn't want to mess up summer with a new piercing..

MintIcecreams · 30/08/2024 20:55

@Swiftbushome I have left it a couple of weeks and then just made sure I give it a good rinse afterwards. Exciting though, I love my nostril!

Swiftbushome · 01/09/2024 17:20

I did it. Yay! It was the least painful of all my piercings too. Even less than lobes 😊

Ooh well done! What jewellery did you go for? Glad it didn't hurt, mine was my most painful.

Swiftbushome · 01/09/2024 19:29

Just a little 2mm diamond stud. I love it 😁

Bit late to the party but this thread just popped up!
My two helix piercings are 8 months old now and finally healed! I bought "piercing bump solution" which is a mix of loads of different essential oils and it's sorted out the horrible bumps I had on the higher up one! Also a saline spray for cleaning them was a game changer. Next I want a mid helix on the ear with the tragus!

Swiftbushome · 01/09/2024 19:43

That looks great @Mummyofthewildones. I especially like those 2 lobe earrings joined by a chain.
I'm also a bit jealous of your rook and daith. I don't have the anatomy for either sadly
On a more positive note though, I changed my conch out from a labret to a hoop today and it seems to have accepted it fine.
Last tried about 3 months ago - when it was 9 months old - and it swelled up and hurt like a bitch.

OP posts:
Mummyofthewildones · 01/09/2024 19:53

Funnily enough the chain ones are from Claire's! Because I stupidly had the 2 helix ones done there (huge lesson learned!) I get a free pair of earrings every month for a year after piercing so I make the most of them! The cartilage piercings are funny buggers and so temperamental to heal. I sleep with a little donut cushion from amazon which makes it more comfy.
That's great, I like the idea of a conch hoop, my piercing is quite far in though, so would need a decent size hoop which I worry would get caught loads!! Used to have my tongue pierced but it suddenly gave me the ick when I was pregnant with DC2 and I took it out after 16 years - pregnancy is so weird.

MintIcecreams · 16/09/2024 09:00

I'm booked in for a septum today. I'm 50/50 on whether this is a good idea or not.

Swiftbushome · 16/09/2024 09:11

Exciting @MintIcecreams my sister has her septum pierced and it looks great. Apparently it's a quick healer which is brilliant. Why are you unsure?

My kids hate the idea! 😆Also people saying I'm too old (42). I don't normally let the age thing bother me but I'm having a wobble for some reason.

FunkyMonks · 16/09/2024 09:56

@MintIcecreams honestly it's fab and one of my easiest ones healing wise and I love the Jewelled ring I have in mine now I feel more pretty with mine done and I think it looks great.
I am 37 years old had it done at 35 and I'm certainly not in no rush to take it out will be staying for as long as possible I don't want to succumb to what a minority think women a certain age should look and dress like.

It will be a little sore for two weeks tops and a bit stingy when the crusties dry but if you clean it in morning and at night with the spray and a Qtip it won't be that bad 😊

Thanks, I feel better now 🙂I do love a ring and yours sounds gorgeous. I think it's the horseshoe that's putting me off. But I know that's temporary at least. They do look so pretty on everyone and I usually don't give a crap about age. I have bright pink hair at the moment and just got another tattoo 😀

FunkyMonks · 16/09/2024 10:04

I'm not sure if you could have the hinge clicker instead of horse shoe one I had horse shoe to begin with but if your picking a top quality metal maybe you might be able to have something like plain gold to start with worth asking at your appointment.

FunkyMonks · 16/09/2024 10:05

@MintIcecreams

ha ha I've got bright pink hair too and tattoos on both legs 😂 live one I say enjoy it sod what anyone else thinks.
