Those old make up brands that have gone- a bit of fun for the oldies.

I was thinking today how many old brands have gone.

I remember buying my first 'real' foundation in a dept store when I was about 15. The store was the House of Fraser group. I bought Yardley foundation and my Mum came along with me to look at the shades. It was in a turquoise tube, not unlike the packaging now of some Clinique products.

The others I used were
Outdoor Girl
Miners
Mary Quant ( a real treat as it was expensive.)

Me and my friends used to spend ages on Saturdays in Woolies looking at Outdoor Girl and Miners.

I used to love a tiny pot of Miners lip gloss.

Loving this thread. Does anyone remember à Lancôme body spray - green, very citrusy. I wore it on my wedding day in 1999 and I can still smell it. In a talk glass bottle?

O de lancome? still going

DorisParchment · 04/11/2025 19:35

@Brefugeeyou can get Eau Jeune from Amazon.

ThatPinkShark · 06/11/2025 07:04

I've used it too. It's simply a wonderful memory for me!

Aqua Manda that you put into the bath water. Adored the smell.

God that name rings bells!

Aveda
Sensique
Outdoor Girl
RU ( Rimmel range exclusive to Superdrug)
Bourjois has a range of phone charm minis as well as mini eyeshadows
Bpurjois also had another range that was more about clean makeup or something similar.

Kiss makeup

I forgot about those phone charm minis! I loved my little lip gloss attached to my phone!

FredaMountfitchet · 13/11/2025 22:11

Almay foundation loved them circa 1990.
Bourjois lipsticks in black & red casing similar period

Anyone remember Princess Gallitzine?

I lusted after their eye pencils! I could only afford one. Greenwood, a green shot with gold. There were loads and I wanted them all!

I remember the brand.

Not Charlotte Tilbury, she's too young!
I think you're thinking of Liz Collinge makeup, which was organised by skintone. Her husband Andrew had a haircare line and they were ALWAYS in the press.

No, I remember a cheap Charlotte Tilbury line in Boots.

I once managed to find actual evidence of it to convince someone that it really existed but I no longer have the link! It didn’t last long, but it was a real thing. Distinct from the Collinge line.

Just belatedly realized I am replying to a reply that leads back to my own post from years ago about this 😅

Does anyone remember from body shop Japanese washing grains. You added water and rubbed them into your face to get rid of dead skin. I loved them.

Apparently they were mostly made of ground adzuki beans

I remember those washing grains. I used them with a body shop pineapple face wash that had a cream like texture.

BodyShop Oatmeal&Honey mask . It was lovely , you could slather it on as a mask or add a bit of water and it was a face scrub, but gentle ,
They brought a version back but it wasn;t the same , too waxy .

More recently the Himalayan mask was gorgeous but its gone ( though trith be known most of the BodyShop stores near me have gone too )

I remember your evidence proving she had a cheaper range.

All my favourite body shop products @GellerYeller 😀

Jardins du Bagatelle is a Guerlain perfume that is still available.

Do you remember when Clinique first came out & the counter assistants all wore white coats like doctors.

Goya perfumes, loved Entice. And Mornay Sandalwood.
My first French expensive perfume was Ecusson by Jean D’Albret…..gorgeous but discontinued.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 17/11/2025 21:43

I had a very impressive collection of Spectacular nail polish. Their silver was especially lovely, and lasted really well. They also had a wonderful deep purple called morticia

Yes! Like sandpaper for the face!

I spent many hours in the mid nineties filling out mail order forms for Yves Rocher and Le Club de Createurs de Beaute, absolute bliss.

Hitting all the targets to get increasingly exciting free gifts and deep discounts. I got a free Agnes B t-shirt, not to mention piles of dubious household guff. I still have my lemonade jug from Yves Rocher.

Agnes B did a dark brown lipstick I was OBSESSED with, and there was a citrus shampoo from the same catalogue that smelled like no other.

WaggledMyAerialAndWolfedMyCustardCreams · 18/11/2025 09:14

It was a very sad day when Yves Rocher stopping trading in the UK.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 18/11/2025 17:14

Oh I loved Yves Rocher.

Aveda are still going https://www.aveda.co.uk/ but not make up.

I also remember Sensique make up.

justasking111 · 18/11/2025 19:41
