I have a dress about 12 years old I really love and may wear again, and a pair of ski trousers I am unlikely to ever wear again (unless I need them because of the gas bill)

I have a college hoodie from 30 years ago that I sometimes wear to go running.

justasoul · 24/08/2022 19:49

A denim jacket that I got when I was 15 - I’m 42 now.

BuenoSucia · 24/08/2022 19:52

Lots 20 years or more. Much of it lightly worn because I can’t fit into it.

Neolara · 24/08/2022 19:53

I've got a monsoon top from about 1985.

Daisypod · 24/08/2022 19:55

I have some band t shirts from 1992 although I don't wear them too much anymore as they are getting fragile

Pipersouth · 24/08/2022 19:55

I’ve got the top I wore when I met my husband early in the 2000,s

SuperlativeOxymoron · 24/08/2022 19:57

A denim jacket that was(is) my mums that she bought when she was 18. So it's 34 years old.
It's one of those items that she's given me, but she asks for it back about 3 times a year for various things haha.

Item that I bought. My prom dress (15 years)

seashaken · 24/08/2022 19:58

A couple of Punjabi outfits I brought back from India in 1982.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 24/08/2022 19:58

I've got a crochet lace jacket my great aunt made in about 1928

fluffyducky21 · 24/08/2022 20:02

I have a winter coat that I've had for about 30 yrs and a dress I've had for 20 yrs.
I also have a dress my mum used to wear to "the dancing"in her younger days.I reckon that dress is 63-65 yrs old.

erikbloodaxe · 24/08/2022 20:02

I've got a coat hanger stamped 'Butlins 1953' I did not steal it (my MIL did though but she is dead so no longer answerable for her crime).

GetOffTheTableMabel · 24/08/2022 20:03

I have a knitted long-sleeved black midi dress from Benetton that I bought in October 1993 - so 29 years ago. It’s an absolutely classic style and I have used it at least once every 2years since I bought it. The area around the arse certainly has to stretch out a bit further these days but it still fits ok and that makes me feel good at the ripe old age of 52.

DuckonaBike · 24/08/2022 20:04

A linen jacket that I bought from a charity shop in 1989 for £1.50.

My wedding dress - vintage, 1950s although I acquired it in 2004.

A silk evening coat that was part of my grandmother in law’s trousseau in the 1930s.

Touga · 24/08/2022 20:07

I have a denim jacket from Dorothy Perkins I bought when I was 18. I'm now 40 and still wearing it. Its fantastic and looks as new as the day I bought it. While ever it still fits me I'll continue wearing it!

Phrenologistsfinger · 24/08/2022 20:08

I have a cardigan that was hand-knitted for me by my mum’s school-friend at my first primary school (age 5-7). I am now 40! So, what 35-33 years old.

Weirdly, it still fits and looks ok… it must have been madly oversized for me as a kid as I was skinny and tall.

HoobleDooble · 24/08/2022 20:09

Some lace fingerless gloves from when Madonna's Like a Virgin look was everywhere in around 1983/84.

Chattycathydoll · 24/08/2022 20:10

A blood red and black mesh dress I was given for my 11th birthday. Deeply inappropriate at the time, not surprising given my upbringing, but put it on in late teens and it’s now the ultimate going out dress (not that I’ve done that for several years, but you never know…)

It fits like a bodycon minidress and looks ace with a pair of black goth stomping boots.

Phrenologistsfinger · 24/08/2022 20:11

I also have a bunch of vintage stuff 40s/50s/70s/80s but I can’t date that as precisely and it has been in my possession for less time overall (20 years max).

dolphinsarentcommon · 24/08/2022 20:11

Some of these are amazing! Even better than some are still being worn

Lovely thick Norwegian jumper I bought for a fiver in a charity shop in 1991. Black and white fair isle design. Get it out every winter. Love it.

dudsville · 24/08/2022 20:15

I have a couple of my Nan's blouses that i guuss are about 50 years old. Other than that I've done a lot of clearing out over the years, so I'm guessing nothing else is older than 15 yrs, but much of it was bought in the last 5.

Antarcticant · 24/08/2022 20:17

The oldest thing I bought from new - a suede coat bought in 1992.

I have some vintage items older than that but I bought them as vintage.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 24/08/2022 20:18

I have a coat that is over 70years old which my grandpa bought my grandma when they were first married.

Waystation · 24/08/2022 20:22

A tweed riding long line jacket - 36 years old and it still fits and is worn occasionally.

Shannith · 24/08/2022 20:22

Black boat neck too from bay trading when I started my first job after uni.

It's as good as new and is still my most flattering black top. 25 years old!

I've got older vintage things but that's definitely the oldest thing I've had from scratch.
