I have a dress about 12 years old I really love and may wear again, and a pair of ski trousers I am unlikely to ever wear again (unless I need them because of the gas bill)

I have a long-sleeved multi-coloured cropped top that is 40 years old. I ordered it from Jeff Banks' Warehouse Bymail catalogue in the 80s. I still wear it albeit the fit is - ahem! - slightly snug these days ... Grin

lljkk · 24/08/2022 21:09

Pair of shoes from mid-late 1980s. Grey pumps, I very rarely don't wear flats.
Maybe some tan nylons from 1980s. Newest item is from last week, via DS, a 6th form Leavers Hoodie. I have 5 such hoodies now, DC cast offs !!

Last 12-15 years, I try very hard to never buy anything, & still am overflowing with too many clothes (see comment re DC cast offs).

32 years! I spent a long, long while gazing lovingly at this jumper in a shop when I was 20 - it cost a bloody fortune (even back in the day) and I saved up to buy it.

I still wear it, I still love it just as much now as I did then.

The condition is still as good as new on the whole but last month I noticed the cuff edge has started fraying and I am now having it fixed as I can see myself wearing it for many years to come.

Remainiac · 24/08/2022 21:14

Embroidered and mirrored suede jacket by Danish label BikBok bought in 1989. Still wear it.

EquallyDivided · 24/08/2022 21:17

A band tee shirt from 1982. Oh and my christening dress which is about 15 years older.

ReginaPerrin · 24/08/2022 21:17

I’ve got a pair of 3/4 length jeans and some summery skirts that I bought for a holiday in 2004, they’re still in pretty good nick (sadly I’m not, so they don’t fit me at the moment 😄).

Jellykat · 24/08/2022 21:18

Original 50s silk wiggle dress with matching cropped fitted jacket, got it when i was 20, 49 years ago! It even had little sweat pads stitched under the armpits (tho' i took them out Grin) I wore it to my sons graduation, love it.

alongtimeagoandfaraway · 24/08/2022 21:19

I have a black jumpsuit I bought when I was 13. I’m 60 next year and it still fits me 47 years on.
Slightly more recent, my daughter just wore the dress I wore in the evening of my wedding back in 1989 as bridesmaid dress to her sister’s wedding - so 33 years (that still fits me too 😀)

TizerorFizz · 24/08/2022 21:27

Early 1950’s “New Look” waisted coat with full skirt in black velvet made by “Debenham and Freedody”. It’s got a faceted single large button. It’s still a wonderful coat.

I collect Victorian jewellery! My husband has an antique silk top hat for Ascot. Probably Edwardian.

jarviscockatiel · 24/08/2022 21:29

I'll be 50 next birthday and have my little black dress that I wore on my 18th birthday. I wore it to a funeral a couple of months ago.

Badger1970 · 24/08/2022 21:31

I got a Jaeger soft grey wool long coat from an outlet about 30 years ago. Still as good as the day I bought it. £200 seemed like such an extravagance at the time too. It's my go to coat for feeling really smart. The only disappointment is that somewhere along the line I lost the belt for it!

Twillow · 24/08/2022 21:36

I have a lovely man's vintage dress shirt from my teens more than a few decades back!
A dressing gown that was my dad's from 10 years ago - sounds grim but seems to stay magically untouched by the passage of time despite being worn every day.
I don't only wear man's clothing...

I bitterly regret not splashing out £175 in the 90's for a herringbone wool waisted riding coat. Quality definitely lasts.

grafittiartist · 24/08/2022 21:39

Some of my grandmothers dresses which I do occasionally wear ( 60,s)
Also- some charity shop bits bought in the early 90,s, but 20/30 years old then.

CocteauTwin · 24/08/2022 21:41

I have a Chelsea Girl pink camisole style top which I bought when I was 16 in 1980. My Mum took it some years later after I had grown out of it (she stayed slim, I did not). When she died at the end of 2019 I found it when clearing out her house. It will now forever be the oldest (and most precious) item of clothing in my possession.

MintJulia · 24/08/2022 21:41

Black and turquoise Escarda Couture evening dress circa 1996.

It cost a lot but I've worn it regularly since. If anything it fits better now than when I bought it. I still love it.😊

Longdistance · 24/08/2022 21:42

I have a few things in my wardrobe that I bought after I had dds and lived in Oz. I have some trousers and 3/4 length ones from a shop called Crossroads. We left Oz in 2013. Can’t think of anything else that’s older than that, as I got fat after having dc.

Verbena87 · 24/08/2022 21:42

several nighties and a men’s shirt that are about 110 years old (all family stuff. The shirt has gone unbelievably soft from washing and wearing and lost its collar and it is gorgeous tucked into high waist jeans. It’s going to fall to bits soon. I will be sad).

a dress from the 30s I wear sometimes.

a jumper my grandma knitted my dad in the 70s.

for things I bought new, 20 years (they were jeans and are now very raggedy shorts)

StarDolphins · 24/08/2022 21:44

I have a Laura Lees for Tioshop dress that I’ll never wear again but I absolutely loved it at the time, 29? Years ago!

SomethingFast · 24/08/2022 21:44

Band t shirts from the ‘80s
If we’re including jewellery then my grandma’s brooch from probably 1930s

StarDolphins · 24/08/2022 21:45

*20 years

Oh I loved Chelsea Girl. Those blouses with scalloped collars and a bit of embroidery.

Happy days

A very expensive wool coat that my Gran wore in the 60s. She must have kept it all that time, then so did my Mum.
It's too big for me and I've never bothered getting it altered, but I keep it for the smell because it reminds me of happy times.

WeCanBeHappyUnderground · 24/08/2022 21:49

A band t-shirt from 1994 which I still wear occasionally.
A denin jacket from 2000 that I wear loads.

cathyandclare · 24/08/2022 21:49

The oldest thing is a kimono/ robe that my parents bought me in Camden Lock when I was 13ish in 1971. Loveliest thing is a VIv Westwood velvet corset that was a birthday pressie in the early eighties. It's still gorgeous but mostly stolen by Dd now.

Most of my other stuff was cheap and deeply uncool, which is why
