I am hoping some other people say "oh once a week" but gloomily prepared for EVERYONE to say daily

it seems such a waste of time

You lose the most heat from the top of yhour head so it really is as sweaty as your crotch/underarms only you can't see it cos mostly womens hair is longer/overprocessed, has serum/hairspray/gel on it.

I usually wash mine every day but I'm very lazy and don't dry it and just leave it curly (its long)

Joash · 21/01/2008 15:41

everyday

Pinkchampagne · 21/01/2008 15:43

It varies. If I am going out & want to wear my hair down, I will wash every other day, but when I am not going anywhere but work (where I always wear my hair up) I wash it a couple of times a week.

SheikYerbouti · 21/01/2008 15:45

Do mine everyday

If I miss a day, I have the look of Waynetta slob

berrybliss · 21/01/2008 15:50

Every day or i look like i have a rats nest on my head as apposed to ringlets.

AnAngelWithin · 21/01/2008 15:52

every other day usually. i have very very dry scalp and use shampoo from the doctor. if i do't wash it every other day, then my scalp ends up bleeding and itcy, otherwise i really wouldn't bother washing it that much!!

SomeLikeItHot · 21/01/2008 18:03

I wash mine every 2 or 3 days.. its long so i usually have it loose for first day then tie it back the second one when its not so nice!

lazarou · 23/01/2008 10:35

Right, I have been conducting my own little experiment and have not washed my hair for three days. Apart from looking like I could fry chips in it, it smells horrible! So, if you go a few days usually without washing it, can you not smell it, or do you spray it with something?

darlink · 23/01/2008 10:49

Every day.
Last year I tried not washing it at all to see if the old myth was true. It was minging. Lasted 3 weeks.

Blossomhill · 23/01/2008 10:54

normal 2-3 times a week and dry shampoo on really bad days

lazarou · 23/01/2008 10:56

what is dry shampoo?

Blossomhill · 23/01/2008 15:52

it's by bastiste. in a can and you spray it on greasy bits and then brush out. really good for a quick touch up

Yummers · 25/01/2008 13:44

every other day. used to be every day but it gets really dry and brittle and frizzy. saying that, i've started using night cream and it's making my hair very greasy so i might have to switch back to doing it every day.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/01/2008 13:46

every day
Lazarou - the Toni and Guy dry shampoo is v good too

colditz · 25/01/2008 13:47

Mine is like interstellar's.

But only when I'm on the pill. When I'm not on the pill, it's greasy as hell - and I'm spotty too - and as I am single, that's the only reason I take the pill - vanity!

Anna8888 · 25/01/2008 13:53

Every morning, in my bath.

HaggisNeepsandTatties · 25/01/2008 14:01

I absolutely have to wash my hair every day, or it feels and looks vile. In fact I feel horrid if I haven't washed my hair. If I wake up with a headache (I often do) washing my hair makes me feel better and lighter. I have needed to wash it every day since my teens or earlier. I wish I had the kind of hair that looked alright without being washed.

nappyaddict · 26/01/2008 23:35

i have been conducting a little experiment too. haven't washed my hair in 4 days. started to look greasy after 2 days which is when i normally use the dry shampoo, which i did as i always do. then yesterday and today i didn't need to use the dry shampoo. i was very pleasantly

expatinscotland · 26/01/2008 23:36

yuk. i'm about to go wash my skanky hair.

it's so rank after just one day.

SnappyLaGore · 26/01/2008 23:57

i know someone who did the not washing hair for several months so it starts cleaning itself thing. she used to rinse it under water, but no shampoo. she looked fine (shes a v glamorous sort). go figure.

mine is every other day or so. it looks rubbish when first washed, then greasy 24 hours later. cant win.

Everyday but only because my head resembles a chip pan if i don't.

Izzybel · 27/01/2008 01:15

I wash my hair every other day. I used to wash it everyday because it got greasy, but because a hairdresser told me that it would be better not to wash it so often, I started leaving it. It doesn't get half as greasy as it used to. Sometimes I might give it a break for a few more days and I just put it in French plaits. You can't tell that it's greasy then . Actually, if you left your hair and didn't wash it for 6 weeks, it would start to clean itself. I studied Homeopathy for a while. Homeopaths think that certain products suppress the bodys ability to do certain things, like if you use anti-perspirant you are suppressing sweating, which the body needs to do. My homeopathy tutor said that she knew somebody who hadn't washed her hair in ten years, just occassionally rinsed it with water! She said that that person had the most beautiful shiny hair she had ever seen! I suppose it's just the thought of looking like a tramp for the first six weeks though! I think that the best things you can do for hair are give it a rest from hair dryers and straigteners. They make hair frazzle!
