Look, if you're the type of person still wearing sandals in October, this might not be the thread for you Grin

But... if you are like me and an autumn-loving, pumpkin-spice drinking, leaf kicker, what's on your list?

I'll start:

Flared jeans (I have some, just looking for the right shoes/boots to wear with)
Trench coat
Tweed blazer
Barrel leg cords in a rusty colour.
Deep berry lipstick

I've bought myself this coat:

I do really like this one though too (second picture):

I'm looking forward to seeing what they bring out for the autumn 🍂 though too!

Autumn by name, autumn by nature 🧡
cant wait for Autumn!

this rusty dress is midi length and heavy! Beautiful for both Summer and Autumn 🍂

I'm not quite ready for full on autumn just yet. My scarves a d brooches are in the drawer waiting for a little later in the year. But I have moved out of the fresh colours and dug out my rusty orange thin corduroy trousers which are actually 3/4 length so good for late summer. The Levi 501s seem to get more wear at this time of year too.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie zara always produces some good pencil skirts and also last year a great straight/pencil cross in a wool mix with a box pleat.

Thanks. I haven't been in Zara for years, but will have a look.

dolphinsarentcommon · 29/07/2022 22:23

Does anyone have any clue about what we expect to see in the shops? Colours?

I really hope dresses continue to be popular, in winter weight obviously. I'd also like greens, browns, plums but not holding my breath.

Lots seem to be looking for cord.. it would be a welcome change for me

Mercedesbenz2022 · 29/07/2022 22:52

@Judystilldreamsofhorses thank you x

I do like the Autumn jumper season
I bought an M&S cotton green /flecked jumper but not worn it yet

i want a Superdry Fuji Super Longline Coat ( I bought the jacket for DD and she loves it )
I'd need to try it on IRL and decide on the colour .

Some nice winter socks maybe ?

Like the photo half way down this page on the right which is in fact in the 30s not 50s but the principle stands:

Still very much in fashion as far as I’m concerned. Second photo is coming season Margiela.

I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for Autumn stuff already, but I’m in a bit of a style rut and need to have a bit of a style makeover, I think.

Im a classic dressers, but SO bored of my work wardrobe (blazers, silk blouses, ankle grazers, flats).

Definitely need:
Smartish boots
Casual, warm boots
A new coat (I never find my perfect coat. I want something soft and ‘throw on’ but also longish and a bit glamorous/suitable to wear with dressier stuff),

Post links of your purchases, please!

@StripesSpots I've got a very swish casual coat from [[
www.patriziapepe.com/gb/en/tailored-suit/ Patrizia Pepe]] a few years ago and it's still going strong. Very luxurious but casual at the same time. Their autumn winter collection isn't out yet but keep an eye on the website.

@Thefruitbatdancer

Ooh, thank you! Have bookmarked that site and will keep my eyes peeled. ❤️

I just don't know this year! I haven't worn my Burberry Daylesmoore coat for 3 winters because it's beige wool and I had a toddler, but he'll be 4 this autumn so I feel a bit safer. Also have a Ralph Lauren navy waterproof mac, AllSaints jacket and a Mint Velvet wax biker thing so I really am covered there. Have loads of jumpers (8? 12? At least)

My Grenson Nanettes will be on their 3rd or 4th winter - can't remember. Also have black and brown Docs. I maybe need a new style though - is hiker still in?

My challenge is going to be jeans. I'm almost ditching skinnies now, and wearing White Stuff barrel leg or H&M Vintage rolled jeans with trainers. I might just have to embrace cold ankles.

I do need some wintery dresses! I normally go for this sort of thing. Kneeish length (I am short).

So if anyone has seen anything?

I love Autumn clothes and usually have a clear idea of how I want to dress. Unfortunately, or fortunately for my bank balance, I did the Kibbe style analysis and realise that I have all the key shapes and styles that suit me already. However, I can always look at upgrading a few key items.
I would love a real wool expensive looking wrap long coat - possibly in a rich brown or burgundy. I hear brown will be the new black this autumn which suits me fine.
Some suede knee high boots with a pointed toe in a 2.5 inch heel would also be good. I have a pair in a faux suede which are nice though still if I can’t find a good real suite pair.
A warm wool midi skirt maybe with a slit or wrap to show off the boots. I have a spring skirt like this and love it for warmer weather so I know this shape would work well for autumn in a cozier fabric. Where to find though - I can have an idea in my head of what I want but can’t track it down!
Some new jumpers - these are the one type of item I find I do need to replace most years. Usually because I’ve worn them to death the previous year and they look a little worse for wear but also I just get sick of wearing them 😂. Probably a slouch drape style with an off the shoulder vibe. Not too long though. I actually did well last year and cut the hems off a few jumpers and overstiched the ends - amazingly they didn’t unravel and kind of stuck out in a cool cropped style. Might do that again provided the sweaters aren’t too pricey.
Would also like a super tight pair of kick flares - maybe in a fine cord burgundy. I had a gorgeous pair in the 90s but got rid of them - fool!

That’ll do for now!

TheDarrellRivers · 30/07/2022 10:17

@toucaninjapan love it!

lollipoprainbow · 30/07/2022 11:20

I've purchased my first autumn item a black slouchy jumper from H and M ! Excited

LaTangerina · 30/07/2022 16:24

Where's the lovely fox jumper from?

lollipoprainbow · 30/07/2022 17:19

@Mysaucepanbroke those boots are 👌

BuwchGochGota · 30/07/2022 19:46

Oh I love autumn. I'm so much more comfortable in cooler weather clothes.

I am thinking that I'll extend the life of some of my midi shirt dresses that I've been wearing with trainers over the summer by wearing them with tights and flat chelsea boots in the autumn.

I've bought some bootcut jeans, but am really aware that a lot of my tops are going to be out of proportion with them as I've been wearing skinnies for so long.

I've also bought some wide leg trousers and a sleeveless tie waist coat for work. Planning on wearing patterned blouses with the sleeveless coat.

Thank you for starting this thread autumn is my favourite season. What footwear will be trendy this autumn? I'm bored with Chelsey boots, can't wear heels and often feel a bit under dressed in my trainers.

Chunky boots are super popular rn

ChanceEauFraiche · 31/07/2022 11:10

I’m not a fashion person at all, but have been looking at Autumn shoe trends in the fashion mags for inspiration.

They’re telling us though high boots and long knee boots, irregular heels (those weird off cebtre heels), heeled boots and classic Chelsea style ankle boots are ‘in’. Not very inspiring.

Im hoping there is some comfortable alternative to ‘chunky boots’ though as that just isn’t my style at all.

ChanceEauFraiche · 31/07/2022 11:11

thigh-high

Sheffieldissunny · 31/07/2022 16:37

I'm going to get myself a comfy cord pinny like this with some thick tights. I've always loved the look of them but never had one before. www.pocketsforwomen.co.uk/product/17814/white-stuff-lothbury-organic-cord-pinny

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/08/2022 23:16

I got this dress delivered yesterday

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think?

(not sure that has worked actually but it is a sweatshirt material black oversized dress)

I think it will be great now on cooler days with bare legs and trainers, then with tights and DM boots when the weather gets colder.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/08/2022 23:17

Here it is since that definitely did not work!

Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?
