Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?

Look, if you're the type of person still wearing sandals in October, this might not be the thread for you Grin

But... if you are like me and an autumn-loving, pumpkin-spice drinking, leaf kicker, what's on your list?

I'll start:

Flared jeans (I have some, just looking for the right shoes/boots to wear with)
Trench coat
Tweed blazer
Barrel leg cords in a rusty colour.
Deep berry lipstick

I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for Autumn stuff already, but I’m in a bit of a style rut and need to have a bit of a style makeover, I think.

Im a classic dressers, but SO bored of my work wardrobe (blazers, silk blouses, ankle grazers, flats).

Definitely need:
Smartish boots
Casual, warm boots
A new coat (I never find my perfect coat. I want something soft and ‘throw on’ but also longish and a bit glamorous/suitable to wear with dressier stuff),

Post links of your purchases, please!

lastminutedotcom22 · 29/07/2022 00:24

I love autumn/ winter things - all the rich colours are much more me than these floaty nothing pastel summer colours

I've bought a vintage Chanel blazer off eBay I love and I've got some lovely Velvet pinafores from the seasalt sale I just need some boots as all of mine have had it so knee highs and black and brown ankle boots

serenedream · 29/07/2022 00:31

Yes! I think rolled up jeans with cozy socks and boots is the 'new' skinnies inside of boots' Grin

What are you all wearing with your tights? Any particular type of winter dresses?

dolphinsarentcommon · 28/07/2022 13:05

Well I've noticed a few jumpers, coats and jackets appearing in shops so not too early for me

I'm definitely after some comfy (I'm old) warm everyday boots, suitable for dresses with thick tights and trousers.

I've decided to ditch jeans. I'm just not happy in them anymore so will also be on the lookout for warm leggings and jeans alternatives

Try Rieker for boots. A bit hit and miss style wise but some real gems and so comfy.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/07/2022 00:44

I am a fan of Seasalt boots - really comfortable, durable and good looking. I liked mine so much I bought them in both black and tan. They've not got mine in stock anymore but these look nice.

toucaninjapan · 29/07/2022 00:57

@GeneParmesanPrivateEye it's this hat in navy! www.joules.com/Women/Accessories/Oxblood/Fedora/Hat?id=217722|FRNAVY
I searched for the link 100% sure it's all sold out as I bought mine a while ago, but it looks like it was restocked and I ended up ordering another one in Oxblood color! 🫣

Phrenologistsfinger · 29/07/2022 01:01

This thread is too depressing - grey days and sludgy autumn colours, I must hide it!

toucaninjapan · 29/07/2022 01:03

I'm so excited for finding a red hat, I hope it will look good with my fox sweater! ❤️

Corduroy.

Come to me!

I've just bought a Bella Freud cord suit.

Very much looking forward to wearing it.

TreeOfPain · 29/07/2022 02:05

Try link again!

Cord

TreeOfPain · 29/07/2022 02:10

And I'm hankering after these Isahel Marant boots.

www.matchesfashion.com/products/Isabel-Marant-Seenia-leather-knee-high-boots-1486098

Hearting them hard.

CountryCousin · 29/07/2022 07:36

Those are excellent boots - and wonderfully nostalgia inducing. They remind me of the world when I was 10 years old.

Currently everything I own would look better with these. (Unfortunately at least one of my knees disagrees.)

M&S has some dark navy ankle boots. They are so beautiful

KangarooKenny · 29/07/2022 08:03

Can I just talk about autumn ? Lots of leaves have fallen near me, so I am hearing the leaf crunching ! I’m desperate to get my boots and gilet out !

ZenNudist · 29/07/2022 08:30

Stealing ideas. I'm desperate for work clothes

Of my own accord I am thinking

Black stompy boots, maybe patent, docs but not docs

Some brogues or similar for work

A new wool coat not sure what

Black wide leg trousers nice ones also for work

Silk t shirts in black white and a red or rust shade

New Red or rust midi or maxi dress with collar that looks smart

This has made me think i need rust coloured jeans or cords

I hate greys too, I don't know if I own anything in this colour. Perhaps some old sweatpants or t-shirt. I am still going to wear beige, maybe some classy green? Not the biggest fan of reds, I think they don't match my blue eyes. I love bronze though.

Floisme · 29/07/2022 10:00

Love the fox jumper and the red hat. And those green clogs. I'm looking forward to seeing platforms again too - I keep hearing they're back but not seen any in real life yet.

But I think the main thing I want to fix - and I probably said the same last year - is all the grey. I don't dislike it but I've worn far too much of it lately, especially in autumn-winter.

Floisme · 29/07/2022 10:02

Ha cross post with xogos! Nah, I like grey, I don't see it as a depressing colour, I've just worn too much of it these last few years.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/07/2022 10:38

Just remembered I bought something last week that I hope will be an Autumn staple This Arket skirt but in plain black. Very tempted to get the leopard print too.

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 29/07/2022 10:50

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie What will you wear it with in Autumn?

I only ask, because I have a satin skirt that feels more summery to me, and I struggle with it in Autumn.

@toucaninjapan excellent hat! adds fedora to own list That deep red and fox jumper combo is lovely.

@Phrenologistsfinger (great name) Autumn is coming, and you must accept this. Grin Lovely clothes cheer me up on a grey day! I never wear grey though.

@TreeOfPain those are lovely. I have some similar 10 yr old ones from Kurt Geiger that I might dig out!

My 'long' coat is from Other Stories. It's like a beige/brown long wool overcoat. Sounds horrible, and I wouldn't have looked twice at it online. But it's soft, lovely and goes with everything and has a kind of slouchy feel that dresses up everything.

mine is already in the wardrobe. Jeggings, leggings and skinny jeans in autumn colours, some are needlecord. Sweaters and needlecord tunics from Seasalt sales with Cotton Traders long sleeved layering tops underneath. My old beloved waxed jacket look-alikes from Marks. Oversized denim jackets also old and beloved. Purple Doc Martins bikers or suede pull on pixie boots. Scarves. many many many scarves. I love autumn.

Floisme · 29/07/2022 11:01

I walked away from a Toast ankle length tweed coat in my local dress agency a few years ago. It was like the one Richard E Grant wears in Withnail and I. (The film bored me senseless but I love the outfits). It still haunts me.

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 29/07/2022 11:02
