Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?

Look, if you're the type of person still wearing sandals in October, this might not be the thread for you Grin

But... if you are like me and an autumn-loving, pumpkin-spice drinking, leaf kicker, what's on your list?

I'll start:

Flared jeans (I have some, just looking for the right shoes/boots to wear with)
Trench coat
Tweed blazer
Barrel leg cords in a rusty colour.
Deep berry lipstick

I'm pretty sure I've seen similar to that coat in Other Stories the other week. Worth a look, it won't be as pricey as Jigsaw I shouldn't think.

I've got a real jeans/trousers downer at the moment. I've a pair of bootcut jeans which I do like and are very comfy, and a pair of green combat trousers again very comfy. Want to add something else to the 'bottoms' collection but really lacking inspiration. Ordered some green jeans off Vinted but they turned out to be skinny fit and I'm just too pear shaped for that.

Maybe I will try some straight leg jeans in a dark wash, then I can cuff them to wear with boots pootles of to vinted

Lookingformymarbles · 30/09/2022 07:27

@LivingDeadGirlUK I'm totally with you on the trousers front.

I've ordered & returned so many pairs of trousers in the last few weeks. Only kept wide legged jeans & faux leather trousers, both M&S (need petite length) but could do with a couple more pairs for everyday/work.

I've just pulled out my winter clothes from storage (it's getting chilly here in NI) and I'm packing up summer clothes for next year. (The great clothes migration often swiftly followed by the the great eBay sell off/charity shop donation). I do enjoy rediscovering old favourites.

Just out of curiosity, where do you store them? I might have to cinder doing this, I've far too much stuff.

I love the idea of a dark green corduroy dress as mentioned upthread.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 30/09/2022 11:57

I meant 'consider'. Not 'cinder'. I do not want to incinerate my stuff!

RaininginDarling · 30/09/2022 12:02

Hi @MarieIVanArkleStinks I pop out of season stuff in the attic where the box is babysat by Martha The Giant Wolf Spider.

It's airtight, she'll not be getting any ideas

RaininginDarling · 30/09/2022 12:06

Most of my stuff @WalkingOnSonshine is transitional, I live in NI! But I do like reacquainted myself with scarves and coats and fleece jammies!

I've read this thread with interest. I also brought my winter stuff down this week, and packed away summer things. I have way too many summer things, especially dresses, and not enough winter bottoms. I got a pair of black corduroy trousers COS - hoping they prove useful in the autumn weather

Brogues · 01/10/2022 14:09

Just re-found two pairs of tweed trousers - it’s been that long since I’ve been 5 days a week at work I’ve been reusing the same favourite two pairs of black and grey trousers and the tweeds never made it out of the storage box (actually a paper basket from Matalan) that sits on the shelves in my dressing room with out of season stuff like Christmas jumpers and polo necks tops (of which I have discovered I have an awful lot!).

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/10/2022 21:04

I wore my new longline fleece jacket today - it was cold but sunny

.
Thin jumper underneath , I did fleetingly consider an Indoor scarf but thought Nah , not today

Ordered some of the M&S fleecy leggings for my DD , mainly for wearing indoors , depends what they're like though

Does anyone have an opinion on cord pinafore dresses (particularly on a 5’7” size 16, over 50) I’m fancying something in cord for the cosines factor, and am looking on Vinted just now. There are hundreds of cord pinafores, but I’m wondering if everyone is getting rid because they’ve been deemed naff?!

When I say pinafore I mean dungaree style

MuddlerInLaw · 01/10/2022 22:32

They’re not something I would ever consider wearing as an adult - but each to her own!

@MuddlerInLaw Thank you! You’ve confirmed my thoughts!

I like 'em. I wore one this week.

I like a cord pinny, mine is black and has a kind of v neck and the skirt is fitted. Its def not a little girls pinny.

I ended up getting some charcoal cord trousers from White stuff which are nice and warm and will look good with my ankle boots or trainers.

I’ve been eyeing one up that sounds like this!

VisitingThem · 02/10/2022 20:32

I think mine was from TU, but it was a few years ago.

JudgeRindersMinder · 02/10/2022 20:35

I just bought this, it’s from tu! I’m thinking long sleeved t shirt and thick tights underneath?

Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?
PumpkinSpicedTea · 03/10/2022 07:34

I've made a new post but thought you ladies may be able to help.

I've got a lovely navy polka dot jumpsuit I love to wear but with it being colder I was thinking boots but not sure if this is a thing? It's wide legged and long enough that it's just the toes peeping out the bottom!

Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?
LimeCheesecake · 03/10/2022 10:39

@PumpkinSpicedTea - I reckon that would look nice with pointy boots sticking out the bottom. If it’s wide leg enough you could pop any boots underneath (including knee highs). If you go for a cardie or jacket over the top, I’d say you need it to be cropped to the waist.

LimeCheesecake · 03/10/2022 10:40

@Lookingformymarbles - which petite M&S wide leg jeans did you buy? I’m also struggling with petite jeans !

Some but not all of Tu stuff really smash it out of the park (?!) for basics at good prices.

In the past week or so I've bought a cable knit black jumper and also grey pleated thicker skirt. Both great transitional items.
