Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?

Look, if you're the type of person still wearing sandals in October, this might not be the thread for you Grin

But... if you are like me and an autumn-loving, pumpkin-spice drinking, leaf kicker, what's on your list?

I'll start:

Flared jeans (I have some, just looking for the right shoes/boots to wear with)
Trench coat
Tweed blazer
Barrel leg cords in a rusty colour.
Deep berry lipstick

I want a black short dress, with sleeves. Nothing tight or 'sexy' looking, as I want to wear it with fishnets/patterned tights without it looking too much.

@GeneParmesanPrivateEye What patterned tights do you wear? I’m thinking about buying some if I’m brave enough!

Sickoffamilydrama · 04/09/2022 20:55

I really fancy a long wool coat for dramatic swishing, they are surprisingly hard to find all seem to be mid shin.

I have spotted this in the sale which I love but isn't a neutral enough colour.

BangingOn · 04/09/2022 21:16

Love the idea of dramatic swishing. La Redoute are surprisingly good for long coats although I don’t know whether they have their full winter range in yet.

LimeCheesecake · 05/09/2022 09:37

Oh I have a ted baker coat for swishing from last year, but I am only 5’1” so it’s swishier on me than it would be on a normal sized person!

their coats are lovely feeling and make any outfit look classy.

I must say, happy to be moving to the stage of year when as long as you have good boots and a nice coat, you look stylish, regardless of what comfy horror outfit you’ve got on underneath.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/09/2022 19:16

@LivingDeadGirlUK Was in Tesco yesterday. They have some collared jumpers for under £20. Saw one in light beige/stone & one in black. Couldn't reach to see label for material but may be worth a look if you are near a store soon.

LimeCheesecake · 05/09/2022 20:25

Am hoping Tesco do their plain cashmere jumpers again this year, got one last year and it washed really well and was super comfy.

Whoever posted the link to the Dune outlet - this is a scam. Feel such an idiot. Was pretty obvious but only after I'd given my credit card details. Called the credit card company and stopped the payment and cancelled my card. Thought others should know that the link was posted on this thread.

If it looks too good to be true...then it probably is

What link? I scoured the thread to know where to avoid and can't find it.

Nothing long on there yet.

Or Ted Baker yet I probably need to give it a month or so.

I'm 5ft8 and want ankle length swishing so need properly long.

GeneParmesanPrivateEye · 12/09/2022 10:17

Cord trouser purchase a success from Uniqlo.

@happytobemrsg Snag tights for when I'm going bold, or just wooly ones with patterns on from wherever - M&S or uniqlo usually do some.

I order a cashmere cropped cardie from House of Bruar’s sale that should be arriving today - am short so cropped cardies sit better on me. Ordered black as realised I’ve managed to leave my black wool cardie behind when I went a way for a couple of days and fancied a posher upgrade, they have other colours discounted as well.

want to order wide leg jeans, although not sure if I want a kick flare rather than completely wide.

now, if you were me and tidying away things in a panic before in laws visited months ago, where would you have shoved your dark green high tops that would be great for the slight seasonable shift away from the white trainers of spring /summer and now are nowhere to be found?! (They’re going to be in the spidery bit of the cupboard under the stairs, aren’t they?!)

Apologies, I'm not sure if I've got the hang of replying to particular comments yet. But this is for
Sickofmyfamilydrama
... and her quest for a long swishy neutral coat for 5′8″.
Have you looked at Long Tall Sally?
Otherwise, there's a beautiful (if spendy) camel coat at Jigsaw:

Wish I had a big discount code for it though!

Great thread, I love Autumn. But here in London temps are still low 20s so not quite time yet for warmer clothes.

I have a lot of clothes, some not worn enough, I’m going to be really strict with myself and not be tempted by all the lovely things linked to. I’m going to try and shop more from my wardrobe a bit more and experiment putting different things together.

MuddlerInLaw · 12/09/2022 12:38

It’s still warm where I am too, but half the fun is the planning ahead. Grin

I’ve spent the last two weeks ecstatically planning and investigating what I can wear (new or from my wardrobe) with the dress I linked above. (It’s a wondrously blank canvas, so full of possibilities.)

LucyLoopyLu · 12/09/2022 13:53

I've accidentally bought the following from Vinted:

Floral and citrus print dress from monsoon (dark background to the print so it's fairly flexible season wise to wear with black tights) - I tried this on new in the shop and regretted not buying it, although this is a bigger size so hopefully will still fit.

Denim shirt dress - I already have this dress (!) but I think I have found an identical one in a bigger size which should fit better - love the dress but always regretted not getting the size up as some of the buttons gape slightly over the bust so hopefully this should fit better and I can donate the other.

Brown shearling lined aviator jacket - I know these have gone out of fashion now but I wanted one the last couple of years but was too skint to justify. Got this one nearly new for £17 inc postage and it looks very cosy and soft!

I also need to stock up on new tights and then j think I'm pretty much set. I still fancy a cord pinafore though

CoffeeBeansGalore · 12/09/2022 18:19

I've just treated myself to a (slightly oversized) chunky knit mustard coloured cardigan and a very long pink pocketed cardigan (again sized up to accomodate jumpers/layers underneath).
Both very snuggly! Live North Scotland so temps dropping already here.

Pushymum · 15/09/2022 15:35

To stay warm! Bare legs in autumn/winter??!!!!

OllyBJolly · 17/09/2022 23:34

I love the colour of this coat - but the style is like a dressing gown! Anyone seen similar colour but with buttons? www.jigsaw-online.com/collections/coats/products/long-double-faced-coat-green?queryID=4f8674df00a854b440b92490182d5071

RaininginDarling · 18/09/2022 10:28

I've just pulled out my winter clothes from storage (it's getting chilly here in NI) and I'm packing up summer clothes for next year. (The great clothes migration often swiftly followed by the the great eBay sell off/charity shop donation). I do enjoy rediscovering old favourites.

WalkingOnSonshine · 18/09/2022 18:56

I’ve started doing the same @RaininginDarling - summer stuff put away but haven’t quite got out winter clothes.

I appear to have plenty of “transitional pieces” so just need a bit of a cull.

Sickoffamilydrama · 18/09/2022 20:24

Try a Google image search but crop it so it doesn't pick up the neckline that might work @OllyBJolly ?

Sickoffamilydrama · 18/09/2022 20:39

Although that isn't working for me with regards to this dress, I think it is probably yet to come out I've searched Phase eight and Google images and can't find it.

I really like the pattern.

Umm, can we talk about autumn yet?
LimeCheesecake · 18/09/2022 20:41

It smells autumnal here !!! Today was the first day of black tights - went with old dark green cord dress I’d forgotten I’d got and actual boots. I’m fully done with summer. Bring on the crumble !

godmum56 · 18/09/2022 20:58

I am back in sweatshirts for lolling around in for the first time in months....its lovely

I got this coat a few years ago and its lovely and thick with some weight to it, I get compliments whenever I wear it
