Good morning. Thanks to those who recommended the diamond block print dress. I finally took the plunge and ordered it and I love it. Mr Cat not so complimentary and said it looked like a maternity dress but then again he doesn't have much of an idea!

ScottishMouse · 05/08/2022 15:45

Bah! I won’t be going anywhere this weekend. Not the sale at Dicks, or the Edinburgh fringe festival show I have booked, or anywhere else. Covid has finally got me.

I need Toast to put some new things online so I can spend the hours and days stretching out before me browsing and dreaming of autumn (usually my favourite clothing season, but I’m not tempted by anything yet).

Stoic123 · 05/08/2022 16:01

@ScottishMouse - sorry about that. Hope you don't feel too poorly.

Also hope Toast obliges!

Oh no!
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Probably good for the bank balance to avoid the Dicks sale though.
Dithering still here !

dudsville · 05/08/2022 18:37

Poor you @ScottishMouse , what awful timing. You could spend some time dreaming of the next sale. I think there was one in September last year.

ScottishMouse · 05/08/2022 19:31

Thanks ladies! It had to get to me sooner or later, it’s a miracle it took this long.
@TempleofZoom , you are right about the bank balance. Had a wee look online and even at sale prices most of the things I like are too spendy.
I have some work hanging over me that I have been putting off. I guess that’s what I’ll be doing to pass the time this weekend. Especially as there is no sign of anything new on the Toast website.

ScottishMouse · 05/08/2022 19:35

So I’ve been reduced to browsing current stock. Has anyone got/tried the cotton poplin easy pleated trousers? Reviews are pretty good though I wonder if I am too short for them to look good. I had previously never looked at them because I’m not the biggest fan of poplin, but I have been wearing my sale poplin shirt loads and loving it.

ScottishMouse · 05/08/2022 19:37

What are you dithering over @TempleofZoom ?

TempleofZoom · 05/08/2022 19:52

Im looking at the denim dresses to go with all the other ones plus the Chevron yoke sweater in coffee/ sapphire
No its not brown! 😁
Interested to hear if anyone else has it and which size?

ScottishMouse · 05/08/2022 19:54

I look at those yoke sweaters every year @TempleofZoom , but I don’t love the shape on me. I do really like the colours of that one though.

AFingerofFudge · 04/08/2022 09:59

I'm also definitely off summer, although I'm slightly ashamed to admit that it's because I'm carrying a lot of extra weight at the moment (was a stone lighter this time last year and even then I had a stone to lose) and so much prefer the idea of covering myself up Blush
Honestly, if you knew me in RL you would be shocked because I always try to live with a kind of "I am who I am" attitude. But at the minute I'm not enjoying being fat!

Just catching up.

Sympathy-its crap
I caught sight of my bosom in a shop window today and its like a bloody shelf Grin

I hear you too @AFingerofFudge . I am almost 2 stone heavier than I should be. Which is one stone heavier than I was this time last year when I vowed I would lose that stone. Perimenopause, health issues, a lot of family stress, and just eating too much, and here I am. I know I shouldn’t let it get to me so much but I just don’t feel like me anymore. It sucks. I’m sorry you’re feeling like this.

Im so tempted but dont want it baggy

Countmeout · 06/08/2022 07:42

I have one of those sweaters from a previous year @TempleofZoom . It goes with some things just not everything. I mean shape wise. I like it with a pair of Hush cords, jersey trousers, jeans. I think I bought small normally would buy medium in knitwear but I imagine they’re unpredictable as sizes vary so much. Currently packed away or would check size. It’s very square in shape, quite short too. It’s beautifully lightweight though but still warm.

Think of the money covid is saving you @ScottishMouse . I have only just recovered from perusing Dick’s website - the prices are 😮.

Snowyowl78 · 06/08/2022 08:09

Kilver Court has a sample sale today and tomorrow if anyones round that way

Snowyowl78 · 06/08/2022 08:10

A ‘small sample sale’ they’re calling it

mizu · 06/08/2022 10:08

I would love to go to that sample sale - went to the last one - but it's just a bit too far and I am recovering from Covid, it finally got me too this summer. 14 days now, testing negative but exhausted!

I am however in London next week for a few days and, if I can manage the walking, will be going to the Notting Hill TOAST store as I remember it being big and they had a big TOAST circle rail too.

TheChattyRat · 06/08/2022 10:47

Toast incoming… 😀
My workwear skirt has arrived - photos attached. First thoughts - it is neat on the waist but not impossibly so. It is quite wide on the bottom - sort of folds over itself but think that would soften over time. It is quite a nice weight - not too heavy but could be worn most seasons I think. Below mid calf length on me (I noticed some reviews saying it is quite short but I definitely don’t find that and am 5’6).
I’m quite tempted to keep though I bought it ‘just to see’. This is the only thing I like in the current offerings (trying to justify…)
Am doing that hand in pocket pose again - just to show the skirt up close.

Sorry to hear about the Covid woes @ScottishMouse and @mizu

ScottishMouse · 06/08/2022 10:56

Oh @mizu, 14 days! I hope you turn the corner soon. I need to be back to full health quickly as I have.a lot going on in the next couple of weeks, but I feel utterly dreadful today, so that doesn’t bode well.
I like the skirt on you @TheChattyRat, it looks a very useful buy.

Stoic123 · 06/08/2022 11:30

@TheChattyRat - skirt looks great. Attractive shape and the length looks good on you.

Countmeout · 06/08/2022 16:36

That skirt is great @TheChattyRat

Stoic123 · 06/08/2022 17:53

Tried on a few dresses at a Toast shop today and bought one.

Oversized Landscape Check- material and cut divine but colours didn't suit me that much. Would recommend- so swishy.

Flotsam Gathered - wouldn't get enough wear and low hanging armpits. If I lived by a beach (I wish) and used it to throw over a bikini ...different matter.

Gathered Garment Dyed Linen- bought this in liquorice. Even nicer in real life. Can't wait to wear it.

Tried on another dress that isn't online yet - same cut as the vibrant check dress from last year (drawnstring cinch under bust) but in a blue patterned material. Nice but shape not that great for me.

Nothing else really leapt out other than the denim pieces which all looked really good. Can't justfy any more denim at the moment but I might be tempted by the tapeze dress if it ends up in a sale.

Laska2Meryls · 06/08/2022 19:38

I'd like the Flotsam dress if it wasn't brown! saw it irl at Kilver Court when we were there and it was a fab shape, I thought ..( except for the colour)..

id have loved to have gone to the sample sale there, but itll definitely be on my list for a revisit next time I am that way ( or take a ' mistake detour' in the campervan!) .

I bought another pair of Gabis in the soft black.. (thought that I would as they will probably go up in price again in the autumn drop .. they are expensive enough now ...)

Laska2Meryls · 06/08/2022 20:16

Kicking myself really as I have procrastinated about buying Gabis in Jute and black for several seasons now!
