I get the eco principle but it annoys me when they say you should consider altering the item rather than return it! Having said that they did my return with no arguments unlike Wyse who lost my flipping return! £165!!

Sooverthemill · 19/09/2022 16:29

Does anyone have the cord Gabi trousers? I’d like sizing advice. Usually uk8 / jeans size 26 pretty much everywhere. Toast says size 6. Don’t want to return! Also photos of the actual colours of you have this season’s version would really help. Thank you

dudsville · 19/09/2022 16:57

Anyone done any COS shopping recently? I realised that the things I most wanted, given the drop in temperature and attemtping to keep the heat to a minimum, would not be in the hoped for toast sale - namely warm oversized jumpers in unexciting colours. I've bought COS loose fit cropped jumpers in grey, beige and navy. This was several days back and I've not had any update on when they'll arrive but I'm hopeful they'll be just the thing!

I still hope for a sale, but am back to just being excited to see what they put in it as opposed to hoping for something specifically.

TerrierOrTerror · 19/09/2022 17:03

Heads up for cord trouser lovers - I picked up some from Uniqlo yesterday for the bargain price of £20 (given or take 10p). Lovely chestnut colour, soft, great length rolled up but look good not rolled too. Elastic waist similar to Gabis but far less material around the crotch. Also available in blue and a very pale neutral.

I cant decide if theyve scratched my itch for the Pear Gabis or whether I've just decided I now live in comfortable cords and therefore near them even more.

Snowyowl78 · 19/09/2022 18:17

@Sooverthemill i would say to go down a size from what you’d normally buy in jeans from anywhere else

Snowyowl78 · 19/09/2022 18:30

@Sooverthemill im not sure this is the greatest representation but here are the blue ones

@dudsville - everytime I open my laptop there's a notification from Cos to say their sale is coming soon and to make sure I'm signed up for the preview. I'm hoping it'll be some time this week - ditto the Toast sale! I've decided I probably have room for one more jumper/cardigan - please post pics of your new ones when they arrive.

@TerrierOrTerror they sound nice! I haven't worn my gabis yet- and it's going to be 21 here again this week so they may have to wait a bit longer

I'm remembering the chat about the colour of those gabi's @faustina but I was too late to contribute at the time, I just wanted to say our pear tree does produce pears a very similar colour - the skin is very harsh and unpleasant - but the colour is nice!

It never occured to me that COS might have a sale soon, doh! I think £69 for a jumper is a fine price, but if they go on sale that would be a bonus!

Wearing the orange and blue check toast dress today and I'm dithering over sandals or tights with boots - too early to tell if I will feel hot or cold!

Sooverthemill · 20/09/2022 08:37

Ordered the pear gabi’s in s6. Hope they fit!

Laska2Meryls · 20/09/2022 09:32

I am in Edinburgh.( We have been away on a van trip to Scotland ) and are wending our way slowly homewards now .. Am hoping to visit the Toast shop later ! ( Not that I can really afford them now they are so stupidly expensive) .They wont think that I look at all a serious Toast wearer any way in my random collection of camping gear ( although I do have an emma tee and a mira jumper on today ). Am looking forward to seeing some of the new collection irl though ...Not sure if there is anything I actually want to buy though...

faustina · 20/09/2022 09:52

@dudsville - I'm also in that in between place where boots are way too much, but sometimes sandals feel too little. Was thinking of buying some Birkenstock Boston clogs but I'm worried about the soles in any kind of rain. Did anyone wear them last winter/spring/autumn with socks? Doesn't the cork get ruined?

I made an emergency purchase of very chunky sandals from Kin on Oxford street about three weeks ago and they are surprisingly versatile

Countmeout · 20/09/2022 10:01

I’m wearing a mixture of closed toe sandals and trainers. Far too early for boots for me. Also trying to cling to summer stuff with addition of a cardigan/jumper/jacket when required. I go on holiday in a few weeks and don’t want to get proper autumn/ winter stuff out until after that.
I think Cos is part of the Arket/HM group @dudsville . H and M have been quite slow to ship recently I find ( would buy some children’s clothes from them occasionally)

bitachey · 20/09/2022 10:19

@Laska2Meryls have a wander down St Stephen Street near Toast. Great v interesting shopping street. Treen is lovely and v friendly. Good vintage shops further down too. Pantry nearby is lovely for lunch/coffee. As is Patisserie Valentin.

applecatchers36 · 20/09/2022 10:43

Am also in that between seasons phase. Am wearing cord Gabi's & a denim shirt today with my Steve mono sandals. Wore a long sleeved dress and clogs into work which is fine as long as it doesn't rain.
Haven't been into a toast shop since summer so haven't seen their Autumn range beyond the website and a bit put off by the price hikes, will need to buy in sales now 😬

ScottishMouse · 20/09/2022 11:34

Enjoy Stockbridge @Laska2Meryls! It’s my favourite Edinburgh neighbourhood. Lovely shops and cafes there.

ScottishMouse · 20/09/2022 12:13

Has anyone tried the heathery sweater? I love the green colour and the orange one too, but am not a fan of itchy wool, and wonder if it might be too itchy.

FiddleFigs · 20/09/2022 12:41

I'm wearing my cord pear Gabis today. I love them! They are rather cropped on my 5'10" frame, so only really possible on dry, autumnal days. Wearing with a cream poplin shirt and my Toast Kindred neckerchief, and a pair of suede flats.

I bought an excellent pair of needlecord trousers from Cos this weekend - in a lovely dark green. Highly recommend. I'll also check Uniqlo's offering (which I suspect will also be on the rather cropped side!).

lordloveadog · 20/09/2022 12:43

@ScottishMouse I have the green ('pistachio') heathery jumper. Love the colour and the cut. The wool isn't the softest, but it's ok. I wear a thin silk liner underneath. It doesn't irritate at the neck where the wool touches me.

bitachey · 20/09/2022 12:45

@lordloveadog can I ask where you get the thin silk liners please?

lordloveadog · 20/09/2022 12:51

@bitachey they are from 'Twilfit by Change' which I'm afraid doesn't seem to exist in the UK.

Will try to do a link so you can see the kind of thing:

silk top

bitachey · 20/09/2022 12:55

@lordloveadog thanks! I wonder if Damart does similar…

dudsville · 20/09/2022 12:55

Ha ha , like minds, Bostons and socks is indeed where I ended up!!! I'd forgotten that was an option when I was getting dressed, even though I spent the weekend in socks with Birkenstock "zermatt's", so it wasn't exactly a particularly hard reach!

I bought mine last year and the cork is fine, but I don't wear them in the rain unless it's a light sprinkle and likely to not get in the shoe. I agree it feels far too early for boots, especially as the sun is out.

Thanks re the shop info @Countmeout !
