Thanks @lordloveadog . Another question if you don’t mind…are the sleeves very long? I have short arms and love the shorter sleeves of many Toast tops and sweaters, but this says it has longer length sleeves.

lordloveadog · 20/09/2022 13:40

Sleeves are full length. There are bits at end you can fold up or not to regulate. I have them slightly folded to keep hands totally free for washing etc.

bitachey · 20/09/2022 14:41

Chuffed with my Cos striped, very fine merino base layer roll neck from a charity shop (in Stockbridge no less @ScottishMouse ) for £9! Will be lovely with my ecclesiastical broderie Toast dress.

ScottishMouse · 20/09/2022 15:00

Good find @bitachey. Stockbridge charity shops are the best!

ScottishMouse · 20/09/2022 15:00

Thanks @lordloveadog , I might give it a try.

Laska2Meryls · 20/09/2022 18:43

Toast Edinburgh was great, I liked a few things, especially the craft check shirt
which I would have bought if it had been longer and strangely I liked the pebble linen herringbone shirt which is much nicer irl than it looks on the website..

The pear cord gabis are a fab colour ,( but I have recently bought the loden ones and dont wear my black coffee cord ones much..)

The fisherman tunic jumper is really lovely ( and a lovely price ,
beyond my price range )

Almond Neck Organic Cotton Jersey Top is nice in both colours , as are the flat front twill Trousers... I also liked the fabric of the check cotton cashmere top and trousers but tbh they were like vv expensive pjs ..

I actually bought a garment dyed linen tunic in parchment, I have the black and love it
, I suppose now that it will be in the sale as its spring stock
.. but hey ho ..

I wandered down St Stephens and saw Treen which looked great but sadly didnt have time to linger
as we had booked transport back ..

dudsville · 22/09/2022 08:18

Fabulous shop report @Laska2Meryls! I really like the look of the fisherman's tunic, but can't get my head around a jumper that's called a tunic but seems to really just look like an oversized jumper. But yes, thankfully I don't have to worry over it too much as even a sale price would probably still be too much. I like the look of that craft sheck shrt and will buy it if it goes in a sale at some point.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2022 09:11

Prices are ridiculous. Hope you are listening Toast!
I've been shopping around more, so not surprising my last Toast purchase was the 3rd August!
Can't quite believe it.
I'm actually shocked at the price difference between high Street things, that actually can be very good quality ( M&S limited collection )
and really a fraction of the price.
Really cannot justify £200-£300 for a dress.

@dudsville Ive got last year’s fisherman’s tunic in an oatmeal colour. It wasn’t fluffy like this years though. Anyway what I was going to say is that it is quite tunic like in that it hangs very straight and has side slits. It’s quite long as jumpers go…. Good for bum coverage!
However this year’s pricing is eye watering and as @neveradullmoment99 says, it’s caused me to start browsing elsewhere and I’m realising how over priced Toast is now. I’m also wary of their quality more these days. I returned a £200 jumper last year as it had a fault in the knitting, looked like dropped stitches and was very noticeable in the design, looked like a hole. Also I’ve had seams come apart on a corduroy dress collar and a jumpsuit waistband. The seam allowance on the collar was minuscule so I’m not surprised it came apart.
I stop now 😂

NoCureForLove · 22/09/2022 11:23

I agree with all the above re pricing. I bought a very nice quality cashmere jumper in Uniqlo yesterday for considerably less than most non cashmere jumpers in Toast. I'm very pleased with it!

NoCureForLove · 22/09/2022 11:24

Great range of colours too... I bought it in brown 😀

Snowyowl78 · 22/09/2022 12:38

for those who have the ‘organic cotton hemp panel trousers, what do they wash like? Any shrinkage?
i got the 12 and I feel like they fit, but on the big side, and with my eternal quest to lose weight I wonder if they are an expensive purchase that I might regret. I think I prefer them to the Alix Indigo on the shape because the crotch is more normally fitted rather than dropped and it means doing a half tuck with tops looks better. Not sure if I should try the 10 or if they’ll just be too small. I’m a 12 in every other toast trouser.

I also ordered the Gathered Turrell Check Dress but think it’s going back. Wrong length for me at mid calf and was also massive. Got a M and I probably could try the S but I think it would probably hang in my wardrobe without being put on. Also super expensive.

AmethystMoonShine · 22/09/2022 12:44

Just thinking…. I had wondered if they might start a sale today?
There had been one by this time last year and if the Queen’s death/mourning period was allowed for my logic was today (because I’m sure it’s usually a Thursday)
Might just be me though…wishful thinking 😂

faustina · 22/09/2022 12:52

I wondered the same Amethyst!

@NoCureForLove - I was looking at those jumpers this morning. Can you tell me what the fit is like? I usually buy L or XL from them for cashmere as I don't like too neat a fit, but this is a new style isn't it?

neveradullmoment99 · 22/09/2022 12:53

I thought this too @AmethystMoonShine
Maybe tonight? They do them at odd times. I usually get the sale preview with kindred but no emails yet. I am the last to know though and usually find out from this thread then realise I had an email about it a few hours before.

To all those that commented on price, thank goodness its not just me. Part of me hopes there is a down turn in sales so they wake up to their high prices. I also wonder how much of it is profiteering rather than a true reflection of the price of raw materials.
As for quality, it has been better but I have had issues in the past. The difference is that there customer services to a huge nosedive. Not sure its still what it was.
In the past i have had a cotton tunic split under the arms, a cardigan that developed a hole. All returned without a fuss.
Recently I have had a pair of trousers split on the leg. Both a dress and trousers with the pockets back to front. Lots of loose threads on things, a jumpsuit with seems opening at the back. Not really good enough.
I will say no more.

their not there!

I’m another one feeling priced out of Toast now. I’m lucky enough to have taken advantage of the JL 70pc off sales during the pandemic so I don’t feel the need to buy anything for years. The homewares definitely feel like much better value for money than the clothing now.

I may just treat myself to a pair of Toast socks for Christmas!

Snowyowl78 · 22/09/2022 13:12

@AmethystMoonShine i wondered that too! Normally they do the email around 7pm!

AmethystMoonShine · 22/09/2022 13:35

@Snowyowl78 ah yes it is later on generally isn’t it? I shall try to remember to keep an eye on this thread and my email as if I remember correctly we don’t all get the email at the same time and the link is often shared by those who get it first. Goodness knows why they stagger it?

Snowyowl78 · 22/09/2022 13:54

@AmethystMoonShine yeah last two years have been 7pm. I also noticed that in 2020 it was a ‘past collections’ 65% off sale but 2021 it was a sale of the same years summer collection 40% off. Interested to know what this one will be, if it ever shows up!

Countmeout · 22/09/2022 14:12

A few things on now everyone!

Countmeout · 22/09/2022 14:17

@dudsville @neveradullmoment99 @AmethystMoonShine @AFingerofFudge @Gonegrey31 @JustforToast @Laska2Meryls @MrsCat1 @Saurus72 @ScottishMouse @Ilovemyshoes @Gonegrey31 @TempleofZoom @pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs @Theteapotsbrokenspout @TheChattyRat Apologies if ivemissed.
can someone else tag who else needs to know

Countmeout · 22/09/2022 14:18

Just to say I’d no link. I just put sale in search bar. I imagine more stuff might be added later.

AFingerofFudge · 22/09/2022 14:18

Thank you @Countmeout I definitely need to know although my bank balance says otherwise 😂

Just quickly in answer to @Snowyowl78- I have the hemp panel trousers and I haven't experienced any shrinkage.
