I usually wear dresses and that first one is gorgeous on you. Tempted to try on next time I'm in town.

Saurus72 · 04/09/2022 16:12

@mizu The fabric is so lovely - light and sooo soft #enabler

Stoic123 · 04/09/2022 16:12

@Saurus72 - love the cotton cashmere on you. On my list. What is sizing like please?

Saurus72 · 04/09/2022 16:18

@Stoic123 This is size 12 which is my usual Toast dress size. I’m a curvy size 14 in real life.

Stoic123 · 04/09/2022 16:22

@Saurus72 - fab. Thanks

Laska2Meryls · 04/09/2022 16:39

Did anyone read the FT weekend interview with Sam and Sam Clark of Moro yesterday? Well apparently Samantha wears Toast.. ( I thought from the photos that she had a Toast shirt or jacket on... She highly rated the indigo trousers and said that at the time of the interview she had an unpacked Toast parcel waiting for her! I love their food ( never been lucky enough to eat at Moro though, just have their books) and now I love her even more!

Laska2Meryls · 04/09/2022 16:40

@Saurus72 I love that cashmere cotton dress on you

Gonegrey31 · 04/09/2022 19:53

Laska2Meryls yes I also spotted the Toast shirt in that interesting interview . I’m pretty sure Sam is wearing the cobalt blue workwear jacket from this season .

AmethystMoonShine · 05/09/2022 08:14

I wonder if it’s the Eyre cardigan you’ve got @Laska2Meryls? I see they’ve done that in navy this season. I have it in black and it’s very useful, not to mention warm.

Countmeout · 05/09/2022 09:18

Definitely the right choice in the dress @Saurus72 . It looks great on you.

Countmeout · 05/09/2022 13:32

My parcel has arrived a day earlier than Royal Mail predicted.
I love the Gabis in concrete. Don’t know why I didn’t buy them last year. The fit seems to be the same as my existing ones. They’re at my ankle bone, so would be short on anyone taller than me (5’4”)
The neat sweater is neater than a Mira and has a crew neck rather than a roll. The hem and cuffs roll. One thing I love about Toast sweaters is the generous arm length. I bought Olive which is a lovely green and goes with a lot of my wardrobe. I bought my normal knitwear size .

Wanted to ask @ScottishMouse , how oversize did you feel the padded jacket was? Would it look bulky?

ScottishMouse · 05/09/2022 13:36

I’d say go down one size from your normal Toast size @Countmeout I would normally buy a Toast S but that looked quite bulky. The XS was good though. Last year’s one looked really bulky on me even in XS. Hope that helps.

Countmeout · 05/09/2022 14:15

Thanks @ScottishMouse .

Arpeggiator · 05/09/2022 14:52

Hi toast people!
I always lurk on these threads, but as I need to budget these days I have purposefully been staying away so that I don't get tempted. However, the catalogue arrived through my door this morning, and I totally fell in love with the embroidered kaften dress and thought I'd treat myself as an early Xmas present. But it's completely sold out 😭!!!
Do Toast ever re-stock? I didn't think so but am crossing my fingers.

Stoic123 · 05/09/2022 15:02

@Arpeggiator - welcome.

Not as experienced as some folks on here (so hoping others will also comment) but they often seem to do a second drop (particularly if still visible on site/this early in season). Imagine a bit of lead time to restock because of the hand embroidery.

Arpeggiator · 05/09/2022 15:10

Thanks for replying - that's good news, I'll keep an eye on the site, just in case!

faustina · 05/09/2022 15:26

@Arpeggiator - I loved that dress too, but was totally put off by the price and also it sold out ages ago - hope you manage to find one

I was wondering actually - has anyone seen anything similar? Even without the embroidery, which I thought might be quite fun to try myself.

dudsville · 05/09/2022 18:04

It has also inspirered me to try embroidering! Someone upthread mentioned it too. I haven't seen a similar dress, but i was thinking any 100%cotton would be nice. I just don't know where to begin, but I've watched an interesting you tube video of some designers showing how to use a printed pattern and then unpick it so you're left with the just embroidery on fabric.

Countmeout · 05/09/2022 18:15

I thought this Sideline one was lovely @faustina @Arpeggiator
www.sideline-clothing.com/shop/p/ash-dress-black
comes in a lilac colour too.

MsDastardley · 05/09/2022 19:00

Can I join in too please 😀. I’ve also been lurking for a while. It was good to see the cashmere blend dress on Saurus72, it looked lovely. I made my first ever purchase last week, the contrast stitch denim skirt. I love it, very flattering.

I’ve seen lots of things I like but a bit cautious about buying as not sure they would suit me. Someone pointed me in the direction on Mathilda Wears when I was asking about a skirt recently. I think she looks fabulous, but I I would look ridiculous if I styled myself in same way. It’s good to see other people wearing things so can get a better idea though. I like the denim workwear dress, and noticed a photo website of an older wearing it. It looked nicer than on the model imo. She could also wear a scarf nicely, which I can’t!

I like the cord workwear dress, but it looks very full in pics on website. Can anyone tell me what this looks like in real life.

I don’t live near a shop, but have some holiday soon so might have a trip to York and have a look

Trinitybean · 05/09/2022 19:10

apologies if I missed this I've been away, they seem to have stopped taking Paypal, probably means I will be spending a lot less, don't know if it's a temporary thing.

AFingerofFudge · 05/09/2022 19:44

Apologies I haven't posted for a few weeks. Feeling fat and uninspired at the moment, so aiming to take some steps to feel better about myself before I have too much of a look. I have had a quick whizz through the new stuff and thankfully nothing leapt out at me; I think I'd prefer to lose a bit of weight before I spend much money!

faustina · 05/09/2022 19:46

@Countmeout - that is a beautiful dress!

@dudsville I think it's just very simple cross stitch or something isn't it? When I was a teen I used to embroider things on my jeans and I'm sure there was a simple way of doing it (otherwise I'd have been way too impatient). Some kind of chalk to make the design and then you'd follow it? That style of dress used to be everywhere in the seventies - like Laura Ashley but not floral - and sometimes it would have a sort of embroidered design on the front. Yes, just very simple cotton (with pockets obviously) or perhaps needlecord?

@MsDastardley - it was me recommending Mathilda Wears and I would also look ridiculous if I did the same, but she has some very good ideas about styling. Glad you're loving the skirt

My first two Thrift purchases just arrived and I'm thrilled with them. Both in perfect nick - a pair of brown cotton Toast trousers and a long sleeved cotton Margaret Howell top. £30! My other, even bigger bargain has just been despatched - very excited about it!

faustina · 05/09/2022 19:50

@Stoic123 - thank you so much! That Wrap notch neck dress is almost identical to the ones I was just attempting to describe! But since when did Wrap start charging so much??? I can't really justify spending so much money on dresses when I wear them so infrequently
