Oh no. I thought perhaps I'd gone off Toast, with so many disappointments in the sale (some my own fault as I went a bit nuts there toward the end 😆), but there is lots of new stuff I love. I'm obviously an outlier here as the muddy/green/brown/ochre palette suits me fine! Some of my best and most loved shades.

Like others I've got my eyes on the Pear Gabis, but also the ribbed Donegal sweater in Firewood, many of the blouson-sleeved shirts. I'm also interested in the knitted tank - those who have the Fair Isle version, how do they fit?

Countmeout · 02/09/2022 13:53

I have the fair isle tank that was in the summer sale.@pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs I love it, have worn it already over a summer dress, with a tee and skirt/ trousers etc as a warm layer. It’s quite short and I feel I need something peeping from below it. I bought my usual knitwear size and was pleased with the fit.

Snowyowl78 · 02/09/2022 16:31

Blue gabis arrived and I LOVE them! Colour is lovely and they’re a good alternative to jeans which I don’t like to wear these days. I think they may be a slightly slimmer fit than previous gabis and I’m pretty sure the leg is a more narrow fit. All good as far as I’m concerned. Pleased!

dudsville · 02/09/2022 18:05

l'm so envious of all your purchases! I'm just about holding out for the next sale, but there are some things that i might try then at full price anyway. Did someone upthread get the heathery wool sweater, i think it was in pistachio? I was wondering if the arms are slim fitting or looser???

faustina · 02/09/2022 18:58

@Snowyowl78 - how exciting! Would love to see a pic.

I have the mauna ki (no idea if that's really what they're called) socks - the thick blue, very short ones with a red stripe and I found them very robust - no shrinkage - but always dried on the radiator, never the tumble dryer

Laska2Meryls · 02/09/2022 20:11

Im actually really pleased that apart from the £££ Fisherman tunic knit, ( which I am not paying that much for) there is nothing in the new drop which screams ' you must buy me!' for me ...

I have bought a fab navy oversized wool cardi from Finnisterre though, which is just what I have been looking for for several seasons ..

mizu · 02/09/2022 21:37

Have had a quick look, can't afford any of this but really like these.....

I’ve had a look at the new things and there’s lots I like but probably not enough to buy at the moment. I’m still hoping to get to a shop in the next couple of weeks.
I've also has a look through my wardrobe and wonder whether I really need any more clothes at all.
On that note, are we still expecting a sale this month?

ScottishMouse · 03/09/2022 09:25

Looking through my emails, it looks like a wee sale ran from sept 9th-13th last year. So maybe end of next week @Theteapotsbrokenspout .

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 03/09/2022 09:49

Thank you @ScottishMouse , hoping there might be some items of homeware as I was really pleased with the bits I got last time.

dudsville · 03/09/2022 11:23

I have a toast sale item dated Sept 10th, but it was my 3rd attempt at getting the right size (and still failed) and the 1st two were from JL, so perhaps JL started early and included Toast in their sale, or was I just preferring to shop with JL and Toast had a corresponding sale period?

faustina · 03/09/2022 14:39

I love that fisherman tunic too @Laska2Meryls but won't buy it because it's way too expensive - have also reached peak jumper here.

Anyway - my Gabis arrived and they're a perfect colour! Not remotely like any pear I ever saw. I found the sizing to be much bigger than the twill version. Usually a 6 is quite neat on me until they've stretched out a bit, but these are much less neat. Will try on again tomorrow if I can bear to put boots etc on with them (boiling hot here) and see if MN will let me post a pic

faustina · 03/09/2022 14:42

nearly forgot! Some more new things on the site. I like the Lavenham collab cape very much

Countmeout · 03/09/2022 15:08

What colour are they @faustina ? I had the pear Rae jumper briefly last winter ( returned as too short). I was disappointed in it also because I felt the green was nothing like it looked on screen. But these don’t look particularly green even on screen.

faustina · 03/09/2022 15:17

I don't see any green at all @Countmeout

Laska2Meryls · 03/09/2022 16:08

They Look sort of brown@faustina 🤣
My Loden Gabi trousers arrived, love the proper dark green colour.. but they are definitely bigger -especially in the calf - than my other ones ( still size 10) .. but keeping... Actually I think my Jute ones are much narrower

faustina · 03/09/2022 16:15

They're a sort of fawn colour Laska - and 100% cotton instead of the bit of stretch in the twill version. I'd been looking for something like this last year - a tone or so lighter than the loden colour as I already have a dark green pair from Margaret Howell (which I'm sorry to say I've hardly worn!). Maybe it's because of being all cotton that they're slightly more generous? Mind you, you said the green were generous too - maybe they're just tweaked the sizing

Countmeout · 03/09/2022 16:38

Yes @faustina they look fawn. Interesting about the sizing. I assume my concrete ones will be last years. They’re due Tuesday but that usually means Wednesday and there’s a strike so Thursday.
I have a louden pair from 3 years ago @Laska2Meryls . They’re definitely wider and shorter than my navy and blackish ones which came a year later. The greens a very useful colour.

Saurus72 · 04/09/2022 13:50

I just went to Toast in Cambridge and bought this cotton cashmere dress - it’s so beautifully soft, I can wait to wear it. This dress, merino tights, suede ankle boots - perfect AW outfit for me I think.

I also tried the plum check dress but the pattern definitely wore me so that dress as a no.

I saw this gorgeous Scarf it’s absolutely stunning and weirdly looks way less brown IRL. It’s now added to my wish list…

Generally feeling the Toast love again - prices are eye wateringly high so we’ll see how that goes over the next few months 😊

faustina · 04/09/2022 14:51

I like both those dresses on you @Saurus72 - that's my local Toast too. I always melt in that tiny changing room!

dudsville · 04/09/2022 14:55

I agree they both look great on you @Saurus72 !

ScottishMouse · 04/09/2022 15:07

I tried on that cotton cashmere one today too @Saurus72 ! I didn’t buy, am going to ponder for a bit. It is lovely, but I rarely wear dresses these days.
I also tried the firewood padded jacket, which is smaller in size than last year’s version, although still big. It’s lovely, but I am just not sure how useful the colour would be for me, and I really need to buy a jacket with a hood.
I also tried the pear tank. It is quite short and small, so I needed to size up. The neck is quite high and a wee bit itchy. And I’m still not sure I love the other colours through it, but it did look quite cute over a white shirt, so I will have a think about that too.
I was hoping to try the wool cotton jersey skirt and tops, but they didn’t have them yet.

Saurus72 · 04/09/2022 15:26

@faustina I swear those changing rooms have their own sweltering micro climate, unimaginably hot!
