@faustina I know, but if you convert then that's around £150, whereas previously they were £115, and not long before that they were £95. So hopefully it's just a mark up by that retailer!

AFingerofFudge · 14/08/2022 10:41

@Snowyowl78 these are the two I can see

Countmeout · 14/08/2022 10:49

Is it the dark pear Gabis? I thought they were twill but I can’t get it to enlarge.
love that indigo twill shirt , wonder how it would sit though.

I think Toast must be dropping these items in by 23rd August when there’s a video.

€179 is working out at just over £150 at the moment which would be a massive jump -surely not?

Snowyowl78 · 14/08/2022 10:51

Ooh I like the blue ones, they look a bit like jeans. Thanks @AFingerofFudge are they cord?

Laska2Meryls · 14/08/2022 10:56

@Countmeout the prices are just mad.. I do like the look of the pear Gabis but certainly not at 150! I am pretty fed up at buying the jute and black at 115 when I could have got them for 95 earlier this year..

ScottishMouse · 14/08/2022 12:10

The prices in the UK won’t be as high as the exchange rate for Euro gives you. Scout in Dublin also have much higher prices when you do the conversion than Toast actually charge. I have family in a few different countries in Europe and they have all said that buying from the UK or buying UK brands sold in Europe has become so much more expensive since Brexit.

Laska2Meryls · 14/08/2022 12:20

Fingers crossed then ...if they haven't gone up further. ..., I will probably order the pear ones ...

faustina · 14/08/2022 12:52

Does anyone else think the dark pear gabis are a kind of dark mushroom colour? I can't see any green in them at all. They're both (blue an dark pear) corduroy. If you go to their actual shop and search for Toast in their designers list, they have bigger pictures and more than one of each piece

There was a price jump last year when the gabis became organic which I thought was fair enoughd

Countmeout · 14/08/2022 13:04

Well the A line denim is €164 on Scout and £125 in Toast so if that is any gauge €175 would come out about £130. Which is up for Gabis. I hope not. I know clothing everywhere is a lot more expensive than it used to be but surely people can’t take many more increases without cutting back. Aware it’s a fwp.

ToastCosILoveIt · 15/08/2022 14:15

I popped into a Toast store this morning. I bought the Indigo Denim Shirt Dress (www.toa.st/collections/womens-denim/products/indigo-denim-shirt-dress-indigo-1) after dithering for ages about whether to go for my usual Toast 10 or for my highstreet usual of a 12. Both fitted: the 12 looked marginally better around the bust but the 10 looked less oversized at the hips. i spend ages trying both on, sitting down in them etc. I decided the slightly snugger fit looked much better and of course denim will stretch a bit. It is a very flattering and wearable dress.

I tried on the Landscape Check Linen Dress (www.toa.st/products/oversized-landscape-check-linen-dress-charcoal-oat). As reviews say, it is very oversized and the medium swamped my size 12 frame. It is a lovely dress though and I am tempted to order the small on line - out of stock in the shop.

I also tried on the Craft Check Linen Dress (www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/craft-check-linen-dress-midnight): this is really enormouse too, bigger than the landscape dress. I tried on a small but will think about ordering the extra small online. It is flattering from the front but the oversized look from the rear means I would really need to size down. The assistant said that all of the shops are out of the XS size but that there are 27 available on line. I suppose all the size 10s, 12s and 14s are having to size down to the XS: Toast sizing is crazy.

I also picked up one of their fold up fans, the lime green one, for £12. It is still sweltering here in London so the denim dress won't get any wear for a while yet.

dudsville · 15/08/2022 17:23

I may have just bought the denim patch pocket skirt and white Oxford easy top.

ToastCosILoveIt · 15/08/2022 21:23

That Oxford Easy Shirt is lovely @dudsville, see lots of the sizes are now sold out.

dudsville · 16/08/2022 08:22

The shirt was sold out online in my toast size so i bought my high street size. Will see if it's too voluminous!

The skirt has been sold out in my size for ages, but i realised yesterday that i was passing near a store so rang them and they had one left that was 1 size down from usual toast size, but I tried it on and it fit and i like the way it looks. I'm keeping it aside to see if it is a size i will actually wear!

Whilst in an actual shop i looked at a few things that I've liked on line but sadly didn't like in person. The lovely orange jumper is the itchy wool, and the kind of sage and cream check dress isn't a colour i can wear. But what did catch my eye were the two long denim trousers, they are so incredibly soft.

AmethystMoonShine · 16/08/2022 11:11

Question for @Laska2Meryls our resident due expert. I’ve nabbed a linen garment dyed dress on eBay. It’s cream. I want to dye it…. Should I use the dylon machine pod or hand dye… or something else do you think?

…also got FOMO and ordered the Oxford easy shirt in white & blue to try whilst they have my size! Doubt I’ll keep both but at least I’ll know which I prefer.

Keen for the indigo one to pop up on Toast’s own website.

Laska2Meryls · 16/08/2022 17:03

@AmethystMoonShine Hi!
Id use a dylon machine dye pod much the easiest. if its definitely garment dyed , then the thread should dye fine..
However if its a washer dryer, I have heard that sometimes, the machine dye lingers...I dont have one so no experience.. However I always run a empty wash with liquid afterwards and wipe out the door seal with kitchen paper..

dudsville · 16/08/2022 17:16

FOMO is real @AmethystMoonShine ! I like the shape so much that I am tempted by the blue one even though I can't see how to make the colour work for me, maybe I should look for it when I return my skirt. And yes my much longed for skirt is going back. How annoying to have to find a time to get back to a shop. I can get it on, and for that moment it does look good, but it isn't my size. Toast sizing is so odd. For trousers and skirts my Toast size is the same as my highstreet size, whereas for tops and dresses I have to size down in toast. They get so many comments about this. I would like them to do a video talking with us about this issue!

AmethystMoonShine · 18/08/2022 10:02

Thanks @Laska2Meryls , I have a separate washing machine and tumble drier so no worries about that. Think I'll go for the washing machine pod thingy then. The dress arrived yesterday and I'm now wondering if I might wear it as it is - need to see whether it drains me first but it doesn't look as pale as I imagined. I'll probably dye it nearer to the autumn though.

Similar here @dudsville, not sure the blue will suit me but need to try just in case. If the blue suits me I may keep that over the white as I have white shirts already....but it does look good in white....I CAN'T keep both!!! Especially if the indigo one pops up and isn't about two hundred pounds 🙄

dudsville · 18/08/2022 13:17

My white oxford easy shirt arrived in my high street size and is too big. For about 2 days they had the 1 size down in stock, but I waited to see how the one I ordered would fit, and now the 1 size down is gone again. I'm going to wait and see what's in the shop when I go back, kicking myself now for rushing the skirt and top purchase and having to go back to a shop to return tham as it's very out of the way, but I had the blindness that comes from the desperate wish for something to work!

AmethystMoonShine · 18/08/2022 13:55

Well both the white and blue easy shirts are going back. Far to big. Which is odd because the needle cord in the same style and size doesn’t look too big.
A shame as the fabric is really lovely and the blue suited me. Drat!

Countmeout · 18/08/2022 16:27

Yes that shirt is big. I have the white and sized down 2 sizes . Do you find the blue is exactly the same as the white? I am keeping an eye out in case one appears.

dudsville · 18/08/2022 17:40

Drat indeed. Is the blue one the same thickness of fabric? The Lys is so thin and I keep hoping they do another one that thin.

Snowyowl78 · 18/08/2022 17:47

There’s a new denim dress up and a new denim coat. Think they’re new anyway. At the bottom of ‘new in’. No sign of Gabi’s

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 18/08/2022 20:38

Well spotted @Snowyowl78 I like the neckline on the dress but I’m not sure about the drape itself, I get the feeling it would swamp me as I’m not very tall.

AmethystMoonShine · 18/08/2022 21:46

@Countmeout @dudsville Yes the blue is just like the white in the east shirt and both the same thick (ish) fabric. I’d say an autumn weight.
I think I’d have needed two sizes down too but that size is oos sadly.

AmethystMoonShine · 18/08/2022 21:47

Sorry easy not east!
