@dudsville - yes of course! 😃

seriously though, they're not really going to get a balanced discussion if they only talk to people who live in London are they? They should do one virtual group too if there aren't enough in regional areas

ilovecherries · 15/07/2022 21:17

I volunteered for anytime, any day for Edinburgh and they didn’t want me either.

Saurus72 · 15/07/2022 21:58

@faustina i got the same message, I put Cambridge as my closest store and that I could make two dates at any time. Now regretting not putting London.

i got my final sale purchase today, a lovely olive and navy stripy long sleeved t-shirt which is just gorgeous. Going to Cambridge tomorrow to do a bit of trying on of new season dresses. Not sure if I’m hoping they’re nice or not because money 🤷‍♀️

Snowyowl78 · 15/07/2022 22:01

This was not a success, just all round too much material.

Laska2Meryls · 16/07/2022 07:49

I put anytime, anyday at Brighton, .. I wonder where they are holding them ?...

OP posts:
Snowyowl78 · 16/07/2022 08:14

@Laska2Meryls i wondered if just loads more people responded in London. On the email it says it’s purely based on the volume of response in areas and it seems like none of us have put London locations. Just speculating though!

Laska2Meryls · 16/07/2022 08:23

Wont be very representative then .. if thet had also put 'can you make a regional venue i.e London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol) they may have had a more representative voice ..
Oh well.... 150 will soon only buy a Toast tee anyway !

dudsville · 16/07/2022 08:28

Have my eyes finally cleared from the shopping spree or have they put their prices up? I can't believe I've been considering a pair of dungarees at £185!
My log in doesn't work and it says they have a new website. Just me?

Countmeout · 16/07/2022 09:18

Well I have no Toast shops near me so I was out from the start. Disappointing none of you are going. Would love to hear how it went.

I am constantly appalled by prices everywhere, a few things seem to be about the same price, the Francis long sleeve Tees were £75 when I last bought now £80. Some other things seemed to have gone up much more. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. The fair isle tank is cheaper incredibly, now £125.

dudsville · 16/07/2022 09:52

So, I just went tot computer I was on yesterday where I'd put the dungarees in my shopping basket, they were not in the sale and they were £150, today they're £185, and when I clicked again on my basket they'd been deleted!!!!!

dudsville · 16/07/2022 09:55

The price creep has been so sharp. I'm still employed but I am planning an early retiement on a very modest income so I feel toast sales now are for retired-me to enjoy. But will they too become an impossibility?

dudsville · 16/07/2022 11:22

Late sales arrivals:

So this was mostly taking a punt on tees I hadn't previously considered as I wanted to try a dress but bought in two sizes so knew I'd be returning a package anyway.

The emma stripe cotton tee in "slate and copper" (I'd say acidic yellow and slate!) is surprisingly wonderful. I love the colours and it's so soft. I can't wait to wear it.

The dark moss raglan sleeve tee is also fabulous and a new favourite item.

The other emma stripe cotton tee, the orange one, is a linen mix and I don't like linen. I saw reviews saying it was soft so I took a chance on it. It's wonderful to look at but the fabric is itchy so it's going back.

The kind of white/putty raglan tee is a great basic but looks too much like the circle tee that I have and love, so it's going back.

The slate/red check tie neck dress is going back. I look like I'm a posh pregnant woman from 1980, even after going down two dress sizes. My other intentionally oversized dresses do not seem to give that effect, at least I hope not.

Finally, I bought the vest @Countmeout wears so well upthread, it does not suit me. I also tried on the whte blouse again and have decided the thick fabric, which is good in so many ways, won't have the layering effect I want - it won't be flat under thin tops, so back it goes.

And since I'm retutning all of this I decided to get the hemp cotton canvass jumpsuit as a possible alternative to my dungaree whim.

Anyone else expecting anything today?

applecatchers36 · 16/07/2022 11:31

Not expecting anything but got an invite to Toast Islington feedback but it's in the afternoon and am normally working in central London so am going to see if I can move things around to go 🤞

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 16/07/2022 11:38

@dudsville I'm expecting my final sale order (actually orders, as I did it in two goes) today. I also bought that tie neck dress and laughed at "posh pregnant woman from the 80s"! Having been pregnant recently I'm not sure that's a look I want to go for.

I'm already regretting going so crazy in this last instance, so I'm hoping most (but maybe not all) items are return-ers.

Stoic123 · 16/07/2022 11:50

@dudsville - PJs and neat sweater in the reddy-orange arrived yesterday.

PJs (blue patchwork set and rusty teardrop bottoms) are nice, I don't really need them but my PJs do wear out and I know I will enjoy wearing them so will keep. I'll probably wear teardrop ones as summer trousers.

The sweater is gorgeous and I'm delighted with it. Can't wait to wear it.

The only thing I'm dithering about whether to return or not from sales items (already returned Indigo Twill Utility trousers - very odd on me) is the cotton linen twill shirt in Slate. I got a 12 but 10 would be better. It's a gorgeous material and useful colour but looks a bit boxy done up. I'm going to play dress up with it today and then decide.

ooh @applecatchers36 - let us know how it went if you go!

Snowyowl78 · 16/07/2022 11:58

I got a parcel yesterday but it was unsuccessful- brown ochre dress bad massive made me look foolish, stripe white shirt not really my style and I had hoped it might be long enough for a short summer dress but it’s not. Spice jersey loopback top I may keep but I could only get the L and it’s pretty big.
@applecatchers36 oh glad to hear somebody got in, hope you make it!

dudsville · 16/07/2022 12:12

ooh, @applecatchers36 ! What will you wear???? Selfishly I hope you are able to go. Keep us updated!

@pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs , the dress was nice in so many ways, and none of my other toast dresses gave me that notion so good luck!

@Stoic123 I dithered so much over the neat sweater. I bought the olive,s a safe easy choice and I love it, but both the other colours look wonderful. I bet the reddy orange will feel really special to wear.

@Snowyowl78 , was the stripe white shirt the grandad one that someone upthread was like ticking? I'm now back to looking for a shirt for layering.

Snowyowl78 · 16/07/2022 12:16

@dudsville this one
www.toa.st/collections/sale/products/stripe-cotton-long-shirt-ecru-charcoal

didn’t look very good on me, I looked like I was about to be christened.

I also got a 14 in the pecan trousers as the size 12’s got a little snug after a day of food and drinks, but the 14 is too big really. If they were cheaper I would keep them.

Snowyowl78 · 16/07/2022 12:19

Slightly worried that my black button dress and twill shirt might get cancelled as they have not been dispatched whereas something else I ordered has…

TerrierOrTerror · 16/07/2022 12:37

Just tried on the Brown Circle dress (can't remember the exact name). I really like it, it fits well. I would need to belt it but it's beautifully cool on and the colour on me is perfect.

I said available all dates in London (apart from one morning) and wasn't successful. I have only been purchasing from Toast since the start of this year though.

dudsville · 16/07/2022 13:05

I haven't so hard in ages @Snowyowl78 , that is the one I meant. How funny.

And re orders not being confirmed, it is the fear, fi gers crossed for you.

Was it the woodland @TerrierOrTerror ? I love the cut and shape of it.

dudsville · 16/07/2022 13:06

Oh, I htink you mean the Vale as the other is belted.

ilovecherries · 16/07/2022 13:46

The slate/red check tie neck dress is going back. I look like I'm a posh pregnant woman from 1980, even after going down two dress sizes.

I didn’t want to make that comment as it felt a bit rude, but I did in fact make myself a dress in what looks like that exact fabric and a near identical style when I was pregnant with my now 26 year old. I wore it with a navy blazer with big shoulder pads to nearly every business meeting I went to for 6 months.

ilovecherries · 16/07/2022 14:46

My last hurrah was the Fir dress. dD says it arrived this morning, so will get it on Monday when we go home. I seem to have bought a lot of nightwear this time (first time ever I’ve bought Toast nightwear). I bought the teardrop trousers and shirt set and have worn all three items in different ways (but not too bed!). The ochre sleeveless PJs for lounging outside coffee shops abroad. A couple of nighties worn as sundresses. Hm.

Saurus72 · 16/07/2022 18:29

@applecatchers36 Well done for getting in, hope you can make it! I went to the Cambridge store today and tried 2 dresses I’ve been eyeing up, neither were any good. I’ve taken pictures in case it’s helpful. They’re not brilliant because the changing was was quite small.

I was really excited about trying the apricot linen dress - in reality it couldn’t have been more wrong 😑. The colour was absolutely awful on me and the fit didn’t work either. It was very large, I usually buy Toast size 12 dresses, and I tried a medium. The oversized-ness was difficult to photograph, it was the back that drooped very unflatteringly.

I also tried the large check dress which I wanted to love because the fabric is utterly beautiful and astoundingly high quality. I tried an extra small (the smallest they do) and it was pretty generous so be warned if you’re ordering online! The large check felt very overwhelming tbh. I didn’t buy either sadly, but happy for my bank account.
