@faustina I also received the LF Markey dress this morning. It is lovely, but it is going back because it’s faulty. Maybe this is why it was half price, I don’t know The Hut, maybe they sell seconds. There are two patch pockets on the front and one was in the correct place but the other had been sewn right in the centre of the skirt. I thought about unpicking it, but I think because it was lightweight linen, it may have left wee holes.

dudsville · 09/07/2022 13:30

Ooh, @Countmeout , that's a toast-perfect outfit! I never could imagine how to wear those vest/tank tops, now I'm sorry I missed out on the round necked one!

dudsville · 09/07/2022 13:51

I think so @TheChattyRat , I once had a sweater with similar bell shaped sleeves and I never wore it. This is miles better than that sweater in every other way, if it ever pops up again in a small I'll try it out, but this one's too big.

Snowyowl78 · 09/07/2022 14:05

I got the knitted trivet today and it’s lovely!

faustina · 09/07/2022 14:17

@Countmeout -that tank looks great on you.If I were a shirt wearer I would be stalking the site for returns

@ScottishMouse - thanks for.letting me know. What a shame. I don't think The Hut is supposed to be a seconds place - maybe part of the Sports Direct group? I've never bought from them

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/07/2022 14:30

Loving your outfit @Countmeout the tank is lovely.

I've got a knitted trivet coming @Snowyowl78 - the blue recycled fabric one.

My extra place mat arrived today, DH seems to think it’s a bit tatty, tried to tell him that’s the point 😁.

Snowyowl78 · 09/07/2022 14:35

@Theteapotsbrokenspout they are a bargain, tempted to order more!

Stoic123 · 09/07/2022 17:46

I thought I was done with the sales then got trivet FOMO and just ordered a blue one (Dang!). Already have a cord one (would recommend).

@SmaugMum - jumpsuit arrived and it's great. Will get a lot of use out of it.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/07/2022 18:05

I’d only ever bought clothes until this sale @Snowyowl78 @Stoic123 , but I’ve really liked some of the kitchen and tableware. Now I’ve been looking at those at full price (especially the ££ wooden boards) and also the ceramics, so I’ve got a whole new list of wants. And has anyone tried the bread bag? it’s got some good reviews and I thought it might be an improvement on the plastic bags I currently use.

Saurus72 · 09/07/2022 18:43

I know what you mean about the kitchen stuff being appealing @Theteapotsbrokenspout . I bought 2 of thesefor morning espressos (really joyous), and yesterday I ordered this lovely looking linen apron. £32 is still a lot, but we’re just at the end of completely renovating our kitchen (literally finished 2 weeks ago after working on it so hard since January) that this is just a beautiful and useful thing.
Now looking at trivets 😬

Stoic123 · 09/07/2022 18:57

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I love the home stuff. I have the bread bag (and the scorched ash board - as you mentioned boards).

It looks really attractive on the kitchen countertop, keeps bread well and I also use it to keep rolls warm on the dining table. It's a bit of an indulgence but very lovely.

dudsville · 09/07/2022 20:23

Loving the last minute sale purchases discussions. I've not yet gone down the road of house things.

I've bought the shirt/blouse that @Countmeout is wearing upthread. I'd forgotten about it until seeing it in your pic and i remember hoping it would go in the sale. I'd bought one of that pattern last sale, I think it was called "lys" and I love it so much, it gets so much wear, weekly if not more, but iirr it didn't get much love on this thread! I've spent a lot on this sale but I'm going to splurge on this full price item with the money I'll get back from returning the jumper. It just looks perfect as an tem for layering!

FiddleFigs · 09/07/2022 20:48

My brown gansey sweater arrived today and I love it! I’ve packed it away for autumn - it will be a nice treat when the time comes. Absolutely not looking at the sale again. Despite all the trivet talk 😅

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/07/2022 21:01

I’ve been looking at the aprons too @Saurus72 I rather like the linen workwear in tobacco leaf, also I definitely need some more tea towels. I remember looking at those cups when you first mentioned up thread you’d bought them - really lovely.
Thank you @Stoic123 I make all my own bread so I think that bread bag will be much better.

I’m pleased that you like it; I hate to provide dud recommendations! 😅 I think the jumpsuit is a stealth outfit, it’s quality and lovely, but totally un-showy. It’s taken a year to grow on me. I do find with Toast that sometimes it takes me a year or two to ‘grow into’ the garments and start to love them. Or maybe I’m just my father’s daughter. He died a year ago and I’ve been clearing out his wardrobes and cupboards and I’ve been heartbroken at the jackets and shirts that were never worn as they were being saved for ‘best’.

I hate to be an enabler, BUT the homeware items are glorious.

dudsville · 10/07/2022 08:01

"Saved for best", ❤@SmaugMum .

I'm really tempted to spend some time today doing another wardrobe reorganisation and really ensure only things I love to wear are at the fore. Some things are by nature saved for best - I have a skirt suit bought for a wedding that's just far too fancy for anything non-weddingy, but I do like to look at it from time to time!

CotswoldWoolly · 10/07/2022 09:02

Does anyone else find the trousers frustrating? I bought several different pairs in the final sale, and every single pair is going back as the length is just wrong.

dudsville · 10/07/2022 09:11

@CotswoldWoolly , is there a length you prefer? A lot of their stuff is cropped, which i like but i think is on its way out trend-wise.

Stoic123 · 10/07/2022 09:11

Aw @SmaugMum . My late father was a man who thought clothes were luxuries to be bought only in cases of dire necessity. Clearing his wardrobe was quick if not easy. In this respect, I am not my father's daughter.

I sometimes leave things a long while before I wear them for the first time but then, once I've 'broken the seal' so to speak, they get worn a lot. I wore the Toast Palm Print Poplin dress for the first time to lunch yesterday and it looked fab. It will get loads of outings now.

CotswoldWoolly · 10/07/2022 09:28

@dudsville I’m easy with length generally, whether cropped or full length, but almost every pair was neither and just sat really awkwardly. One pair was ridiculously overlong though.

dudsville · 10/07/2022 09:29

I have that dress too @Stoic123 . I particularly liked it because i prefer this kind of take on the "floral" trend. I bought it in last year's sale for a special occasion, and it was then deemed special occasion wear until this summer.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/07/2022 09:41

@SmaugMum my Mum bought my grandfather a complete new set of underwear every year; when he died there was at least 15 years worth of still packaged vests, pants and socks - he was definitely of a generation of 'saving things for best'.
I try not to have that mindset but it’s been especially difficult over the pandemic. I have recently put away a lot of 'not best' clothes and left myself with a lot of nice, mainly Toast pieces. Like you @Stoic123 when I’ve worn them once they get incorporated into regular wear.

Snowyowl78 · 10/07/2022 09:48

Does anyone have this yet? Wondering about sizing….

The brown-ness continues…The below text is from this mornings email introducing the theme of the AW22/3 collection.

‘A palette of burnt orange, saffron and pistachio accents an earthy base of tawny brown and dark olive.’
