I was influenced this morning. Saw a photo on Instagram of a woman sitting at pavement cafe in Spain, I think, wearing the savanna PJs as co-ords. The picture just said something to me about the life I want back so I hot-fingered it to Toast and bought a pair. Alongside a ludicrously bonkers ruffle dress I bought from Hope (the pink one then made famous by Trinny but I got there first!) they will represent my hope for a future ability to travel again.

Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2022 12:36

The first £150 slate twill shirt/ jacket arrived and it is perfect... So happy with it , works brilliantly as both but I do prefer it as a jacket and will probably wear it that way over a long shirt.. it almost looks dark navy in some lights but is more black than slate.. As its a perfect fit, I will send the 2nd one back , but of course with the first ones label !

@Laska2Meryls out of interest what size are you sending back? Holding out for a 10!

AmethystMoonShine · 08/07/2022 12:49

I may have just ordered the cercle bag in black….. blaming @Laska2Meryls for that one Grin
also a cushion cover and the wool pad to put into it that matches the indigo sashiko coasters I bought last week. It’s for my back on my office chair so practically medicinal…..

Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2022 13:14

12 ( and also keeping a 12 ) Snowy ..They do come up large, I think you could try an 8 .. I'd definitey take a 14 in a jacket elsewhere, but I have wide shoulders and am quite busty ( also carrying at least a stone more than I was pre covid atm , sadly )

OP posts:
Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2022 13:15

I think you'll love it Amethyst Mine gets used lots ..

OP posts:
Snowyowl78 · 08/07/2022 13:16

@Laska2Meryls thanks! I might try and 8 if one turns up, 10 in the brass is ideal

Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2022 13:22

I'd like a Brass one now!
(but I wont, have spent far too much ...) Am not looking any longer ..
(I already have the blue striped one similar)

OP posts:
Snowyowl78 · 08/07/2022 13:28

@Laska2Meryls actually I am sending a brass one back in a size 12 so keep your eyes peeled. Will send it back today

Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2022 13:49

Great Enabling! I think that the sale will be ending this weekend though , so I may be safe Wink

My collared cardigan has arrived. It’s a bit of a boring item but probably would get a lot of wear out of it. Neater than my Aran one. I’m going to sleep on it. Big bonus that it’s wool/cotton so should wash really well. Did anyone else buy it?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/07/2022 13:52

Somehow managed to get only 1 place mat in my order, rang Toast who said there were plenty in stock, so I assume that must have been my mistake. They weren’t able to adjust my order so they’ve very kindly popped another one in the post, no delivery charge.
Really pleased with the customer service I’ve had from Toast recently.

Stoic123 · 08/07/2022 13:59

@ilovecherries - she looked fab in the PJs

There are a couple of photos of the new Cobalt jacket posted by Toast Cambridge on Insta. Jacket probably too short for me but the colour looks spectacular.

ScottishMouse · 08/07/2022 14:14

Well, the linen cotton pinafore arrived and it is the thing of dreams! It’s probably a little long on me as the pockets feel a little low, but I can get over that. My old linen cotton pinafore is the same size but it was the older style with the side buttons, straighter skirt, and split at the back. I bought the same size, but the swingy one is just that and skims where my old one just pulls now as it’s too tight. I am going to have to keep it, even at £195!
Luckily, the new embroidered tie neck shirt is a no. It is the same shape as the blue tie neck one from last season, so slightly a-line with deep armholes. This just doesn’t work for me.
The painted patchwork gown arrived also in S and M. I think this may be going back to allow me to keep the pinafore. I’m not sure if the pattern is just a bit too much for me, but also, the shape is odd on me - the top half of even the small is plenty big, but the bottom half of both seem too fitted and narrow when closed. I want something a bit fuller in the bottom half that doesn’t feel so restrictive.
Still waiting for the montella linen knit tomorrow, and the Uri Rosa basket on Monday. And then I will have to make some decisions about what stays and what goes back. The pinafore is way out in front at the moment.

Im just off out and wearing the
Anokhi Khiva Print shirt from last year I love this shirt so much, but it was so bright when I bought it, I nearly returned it .. but I soaked it.seversal times in salt water and each time let it dry in the hot sun and its a fabulous faded print now ...
Would that count as 'repurposing' do you think?

dudsville · 08/07/2022 16:42

aahhhh, @Laska2Meryls , I'm now wishing I'd kept the orange edith style shirt dress and tried this method. I thought at the time, if only I could fade it a little!

Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2022 17:27

It worked well Dudsville but id be more wary on a plain fabric in case the fading was uneven , It now reminds me a bit of a 1950s men's shirt, I think, now ..sort of like inthe old movies where the hero wears something a bit 'out there' on the beach.. ( luckily I live on the coast in a summer tourist area and can get away with it!)

OP posts:
Laska2Meryls · 08/07/2022 17:30

To complete the ' 50s tourist look' I am wearing it with long shorts, saltwater original sandals and a panama hat ! But like I say its a look you can get away with here... ( Or maybe not 😂)

NoCureForLove · 08/07/2022 18:12

My tufted bag came - it's not so fab as I imagined - and damaged! A pulled thread which is really ovious so shouldn't have been sent out at all... oh well that's money easily saved. The saffron neat jumper in a smaller size is fab however! 😀

I have the dress in that fabric. Wore it last year without washing it first. Four hours later I have a perfect dress-shaped vicious red rash all over my body. It took about 6 washes and line drying to get enough dye out to be able to wear it without wanting to rip my skin off. It’s a nice dress now though!

dudsville · 09/07/2022 10:49

The wool cashmere raglan sweater in tobacco arrived this morning. I think it's going back. I'm very tired so I will wait and try it on again later, but it's very rare that I keep anything when it hasn't gven me the initial positive hit, and at £145 I need to love it. The fabric feels really nice, it's light weight and manages to seem both breathable and cosy at the same time, and the wool is heathered in a way that gives it a brightness. It's a great colour for me. I like the cropped length as it give's me shape, and the sleeves are cosy and long. But the sleeves are also quite bell shaped, and I think overall it's too big. I would like to try a size down but it's sold out. Why do Toast so often just have a pic of the item on site? The pic they show hides the bell shaped arms.

dudsville · 09/07/2022 11:05

I just went ahead and printed off the return label - that's the death knell!

Countmeout · 09/07/2022 11:12

My tank arrived earlier than expected. Love it. So glad I ordered it. Obvs an autumn/winter item for me. Pulled it on to try with my gabis.
also keeping the cardigan as it just works with so many of my dresses etc for cooler weather. Don’t feel too extravagant as I only kept 3 sale items.
currently dying my dress as I type , will report back @Laska2Meryls .

That’s lovely @Countmeout

@dudsville thats a shame about the jumper especially as your write up of it is glowing! Are you sure ‘winter you’ 😁won’t regret it?

@Laska2Meryls i enjoyed your description of the long shirt - it gave me a really vivid mental image! I like the sound of your 50s tourist outfit.

I’ve got my last sale package coming later - the ankle tie Fracap sandals and a pair of alix (tho I don’t usually get on with the style) Toast cancelled the grey stripe alix I ordered.

I am disappointed to have missed out on the square collar shirt after it went down in price again. Did anyone get it?

ScottishMouse · 09/07/2022 12:38

The montella linen knit top arrived this morning and is a no. It just doesn’t do anything for me.
So brought it back to do a store return and managed to pick up a lovely navy ikat loungewear dress from the circle rail. I think it is from a good while back, and it has obviously had quite a bit of wear, but it is loose and airy and I will wear it as a dress in this hot weather.
