@NoCureForLove ooh I love that coat.

I have a similar old TOAST one that is a sort of olive colour but pockets are the sides not at the front.

anyone got this? Is it long enough for a dress if you’re 5’3? Also what’s the sizing like?

Snowyowl78 · 06/07/2022 07:55

Also this

was thinking it could be good for work

This thread made me smile this morning. I wonder if any other brand has a similar thread and what about toast makes this one so "successful "? That's not the right word but you know what i mean.

You've been very restrained @ScottishMouse . I think I've purchased/kept about 11 things
Two circle tees
The Japanese trousers
3 nighties
1 pjs
2 dresses
The neat sweater
And I'm awaiting the jumper i bought yesterday.

I'm tempted to get a long top. I tried to find a layering top earlier in the year via COS but was unsuccessful. Considering the striped grandad.

@mizu i also have that olive yellow version and prefer the pockets on it. And it was only about £115 iirr, much better all round!

ScottishMouse · 06/07/2022 08:20

@TempleofZoom I have a cotton linen pinafore from a few years ago and love it, but alas it is a little tight now. It was a much straighter version so I’m not sure about the new style, but worth a try for sure.
@snowyowl, I tried the white version of the long shirt recently. I returned it as it was just too long as a shirt for me, but even at only 5’2”, I would not have thought it was long enough for a dress. But then I like my dresses to cover my knees by some way.

dudsville · 06/07/2022 08:27

Correction, 3 dresses, but I did save up for the sale with the plan to, for once, buy whatever I wanted, and that's been a lot of fun. Although I did have two guilt ridden dreams about it!

TerrierOrTerror · 06/07/2022 09:16

XS in the checked dress is still ridiculously large. The body is also really long to the point it comes to my arse and frankly looks ridiculous.

Countmeout · 06/07/2022 10:25

Love the tufted bag too.
I saw that blouse with the embroidered collar on Instagram @ScottishMouse but was disappointed looking at it on the Toast website to find it was ecru which does nothing for me. It’d be lovely in a clear pure white.
Sizing is such an issue. There’s no predicting I’ve decided what will fit.

I'm waiting on the collared cardigan supposedly coming tomorrow. I’m now wondering is it too like my Aran style one from a previous year.
I ordered the fairisle tank when it popped up in my size and they seem to be a thing again this year. It’s not even been dispatched yet.
The only thing I’ve kept is the gingham shirt with the frilled collar.

ilovecherries · 06/07/2022 10:50

Well, having been remarkably restrained throughout the sale I lost the plot yesterday in a fit of covid fever and have had an expensive but very satisfying round.

  1. brown gansey: I’ve always said I don’t like brown but this is a perfect shade (who knew there was such a thing when it comes to brown) and it fits beautifully in the M (and sits much better than the cream one that I got in the dregs of the JL clear out last year). It’s perfect with my chanterelle Alix trousers, my jute gabis and my cream cord gabis. I love it and cold winter me will praise me for my foresight as many thermal layers sit nicely underneath.
  2. neat orange sweater in medium. Again not a colour I normally love but this is a perfect shade. Goes with all the above plus the oil cord gabis and random other denim skirts and jeans I have. Not only will cold winter me praise me for it’s warmth but SAD winter me will love the happy colour.
  3. twill shacket thing. This was meant to be a return but what can I say. It’s not leaving my side. Soft comfy layer that works with everything. I sized up to a large and I’m glad I did. It’s not small made but I think it’s something that needs room.
  4. (snd 5, oops) gathered sleeve tops in white pepper and blue graphite. M is a perfect fit. Versatile tops that just work and go nicely with the shacket which is big enough to accommodate the sleeves
  5. crinkle cotton top. Yay! It’s a return! It’s nice enough but too big even in an M but also borderline too short so don’t want to size down. I’ve got enough purely summer tops and this doesn’t fit well under a cardi or jacket so I think it’s of minimal use.
ScottishMouse · 06/07/2022 12:18

What a good haul @ilovecherries ! I wanted to love that orange sweater but the sleeves were really long on me and I knew rolling them up would just annoy me.
mid the shacket the slate one? That was one of my keepers. I have already worn it a couple of times and love it. I already had the pecan stripe one from earlier in the season so knew it would be great.
@Countmeout , off whites are tricky for me too, it totally depends on the exact shade whether it will be ok or not.

ScottishMouse · 06/07/2022 12:27

Lots of returns online folks!

dudsville · 06/07/2022 12:57

(Sticks fingers in ears - lalalalal - I can't hear you - lalala)

neveradullmoment99 · 06/07/2022 13:15

Well im not buying anything until tomorrow in case they reduce further or put new things on. Must be nearing the end of the sale though. That must be 3 weeks now?
Great haul @ilovecherries

ScottishMouse · 06/07/2022 13:48

Ha ha @dudsville. I put two previously not considered items in my basket, and then had a sharp word with myself and removed them.

AFingerofFudge · 06/07/2022 13:55

But but .... do I need the knitted jerkin? And the patch check gown? And the brown gansey sweater???

ScottishMouse · 06/07/2022 14:07

I say yes to the jerkin @AFingerofFudge ! Can’t comment on the other two things.

AFingerofFudge · 06/07/2022 14:23

I consider myself enabled @ScottishMouse - I have ordered the jerkin. Perhaps the other two will be reduced further??

ScottishMouse · 06/07/2022 14:24

Oh no, I’m sorry @AFingerofFudge ! I hope you love it though.

dudsville · 06/07/2022 14:25

I momentarily considered buying a bikini. I do not swim. I do not spa break. I haven't rented a place with a pool in years. What is this madness.

I turned my mind to some mending, literally, and ironing, and one of the nighties I bought is v necked so I put a panel in - I had the perfect little bit of left over fabric in exactly the right colours.

Something has mildly coloured (dark blue-ish, wash-like) my olive oil dress. Annoying. I washed it before learning the lesson upthread. Thankfully the staining is very light and on the top back of the dress. I'm off to google whether a colour catcher works after drying and ironing!

mizu · 06/07/2022 14:27

@dudsville Grin TOAST swimwear is beautiful.

Laska2Meryls · 06/07/2022 14:48

The stripe cotton long shirt arrived and looks like its escaped from a farmer's wardrobe circa 1800s .. All it needs is a battered old hat breeches and a straw to chew! Also Huge in a 12 .. could be worn as a nightshirt if you were into Victorian ticking .. Needless to say its going back.
The reordered teardrop PJ trousers in S are staying.. They are much better, ( but not really a S) .. However as they are for loungewear , they are fine..

I have Taro shirt and the slate cotton linen twill one in M still to arrive , but by the sounds of it Cherries -as I am definitely wider in the shoulder to you - the twill will be going back ...But thats ok , its still too expensive, really.
I saw the patchwork jacket was back but not in my size and tbh, I still didn't feel that bereft..

Also hoping for further reductions..

@ScottishMouse - I love the cotton linen pinafore. It's my most worn Toast item.

I have been drawn back into the sale and ordered the cotton linen V neck jumpsuit in Slate. Has anyone on here tried it?

MrsCat1 · 06/07/2022 18:00

@Stoic123 I have that jumpsuit. Well I had it but I sold it on! It is lovely and I wore it a few times. In the end I decided it wasn't for me but no reason why it can't be for you!

Stoic123 · 06/07/2022 18:07

Thanks @MrsCat1 - jumpsuits are a bit risky for me but a few can work well. I just need to be disciplined enough to return if not perfect!

@Stoic123 , I bought that jumpsuit last summer in the JL dregs sale and I was a bit ‘meh’ about it but thought I’d save it for a rainy day. Anyway, I had a big wardrobe reorganisation yesterday and have rotated a lot of my clothes as I was floor-robing the same three outfits. Anyway, it turns out I love it; it fits beautiful and I love the cropped, wide leg, plus the fabric is really good quality. It’s one of my new favourites and looks great with my sale black Veja trainers.
