I have the plain navy version of that blouse, with orangey stitching round the collar. I wore it with my ginger gabis last winter and I also wore it with navy cord dungarees.

im still deciding about the slate dress with the square collar. I’m as white as a sheet today so I’m not really giving it a fair chance. I am def keeping the grey alpaca waistcoat/jerkin thing (love it) and am currently wearing it with a vast white shirt from HM and hush Amies.

ScottishMouse · 04/07/2022 16:46

I am wearing my grey jerkin too @ilovecherries, and I also love it. I think it will be really versatile.

ilovecherries · 04/07/2022 21:48

I think I’m having too much trouble trying to make the square collar dress work. It’s one of those rare toast pieces that looks better on the hanger than an actual person I suspect. Unless said person is much thinner and more beautiful than me 😂. I looking at it thinking although it’s sleeveless all that bulk round the neck and bust line means it’s not an ideal summer dress, while the collar makes it hard to layer up for cooler weather. Plus the squareness of the neckline is making my scoliosis more obvious. So while I love the idea of it, I think it’s an itch scratched for me.

dudsville · 05/07/2022 07:34

I ended up having a random day yesterday that also meant i couldn't be home to recieve my toast parcels, however they weren't delivered afterall and the app says they're still at a sorting office 70 miles away. Odd, that's on the Post Office, not Toast.

Sorry to read that you're ill @ilovecherries . I hope you recover quickly. That poor "covid dress"! I love those collared dresses soo much but haven't pressed the button.

Now, can anyone talk any sense into me? I'm considering getting the brown (I love brown!) jumper the one that's slightly cropped and looks a little swingy. However, I have an arket cardigan exactly that colour, which is why I've discounted it until now. How much will a jumper add to my wardrobe? Am i just trying to wring out the last of the sale excitement?

AFingerofFudge · 05/07/2022 08:22

@ilovecherries sorry to hear you've been having a tough time of late, and now you have covid in the house. Hoping things will look brighter soon.

@dudsville I remember seeing that brown gansey jumper in the Toast shop in London last year. It was considerably nicer in the flesh than it sounds, it felt lovely and I personally really liked the shade of brown, it was very rich. Just like me with the orange cord dress, it's nice to buy something you'll be putting away for a while because I love "discovering" something a few months later that I bought out of season.
Have I enabled you enough?Wink

AFingerofFudge · 05/07/2022 08:23

Ha!! It reads as though I'm saying I'm rich, which I most definitely am not, and even less so now I have handed my bank account over to Toast Grin

dudsville · 05/07/2022 08:50

You've made me laugh @AFingerofFudge , I'm thinking it might be a good idea to just sign my house over to them be done with it...

And yes, I do think that's just the right amount of enabling. Thank you. I shall place yet another order. And the post office have said again that they will deliver today... so I might have an update later!

dudsville · 05/07/2022 08:59

Ah, no it's not the gansey, which is such a better price, but I hate split side seams. It's the wool cashmere raglan at £145. You didn't happen to see that one too @AFingerofFudge ?

ilovecherries · 05/07/2022 09:20

I have both the brown gansey on the way and the bright orange wool cashmere neat sweater. My reasoning is that winter me, wearing both while shivering in Scotland round a candle which is providing both heat and light will look back at summer me and say ‘you were so very wise’.

ilovecherries · 05/07/2022 09:32

Actually I do find that jumpers are a wise purchase where we live. I get a lot more use out of them than a summer dress and I’m always telling people to try putting a jumper on if they are cold rather than fiddle with the thermostat. My husband gets it but the kids have always known central heating do they tend to think ‘thermostat’ rather than ‘need another layer’.

FiddleFigs · 05/07/2022 10:22

@AFingerofFudge well you certainly enabled me! I've just ordered the brown gansey. I have a cream one which I love but don't wear as often as I'd like as the collar always ends up covered in make-up.

You need a toast napkin for that issue! The toast take on the much hated indoor-scarf 😂. Works a treat.

dudsville · 05/07/2022 10:42

Ah, jumpers as a wise purchase, brilliant notion @ilovecherries , and "winter me" is very pleased with me and is already looking forward to it, so I've ordered!

My order was further enabled by my packages having arrived and I'm returning most. The navy and green check nightie is fabulous and is a keeper. However, the red teardrop nightie is going back, I don't like the rough fabric. The black and ecru cheked cashmere/cotton top is going back for being bland - I wouldn't have kept it at half this sale price. The wide leg denim trousers are also similarly bland and I didn't like the fabric so back they go.

AFingerofFudge · 05/07/2022 11:15

I like the idea dudsville that "Winter Me" will be pleased with my purchases!!

Laska2Meryls · 05/07/2022 12:09

I agree, but do far most of my purchases apart from the Ginko nightdress which I have been wearing around the house and garden as a summer kaftan dress, are more Autumnal Me...
Im thrilled to say that Toast refunded me the 50 for the over date Emma striped tee and my new 40 one is here , so Ms Slightly Frugal Toast here!!

Oh, Ok not Frugal at all actually,! because I have ordered the Taro checked shirt and the Slate linen one which is like a jacket ( but thats hardly frugal at 150 so it will have to look really, really stupendous on me to keep) .

The 170 patchwork jacket which I have looked at every day and not ordered is now oos.. I find that I am not bereft, so that's ok.. if one reappears though I may have Fomo and go for it ... But 170 ..
I had hoped that it wouldn't sell a nd be in Final reductions..

I’m finally out of bed and in the garden, which has knackered me. Wearing hush aimies again with the cotton cashmere checked shirt (the one with The Sleeves) and an oversized lilac alpaca cardi from Arket. DH and I now arguing about who is least unwell as they are on the coffee machine. That would actually be me, but on the other hand I changed his germ ridden bed for him (he’s in the spare room till this is over) so I’m pretty sure he owes me.

Yes, I was playing Russian roulette with possible further reductions on the patchwork jacket. I thought it would be very marmite and lots left in the sale!

Saurus72 · 05/07/2022 12:31

@ilovecherries a coffee in exchange for changing bed linen is the bargain of the year ☺️

He has conceded this and is making coffee although not without pointing out that I may be ill but I’m still testing negative while he only has to pick the box up to get a purple line. He also hasn’t yet pointed out that I’m still well enough to flex the buy now button!

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 05/07/2022 13:32

I had a job interview around the corner from a Toast shop this morning (potentially dangerous should I get an offer), so popped in afterwards. I tried on two things from the new collection that I'd completely fallen for online - the Strata check dress and the Mul Mul blouse. Annoyingly, both were gorgeous on and the fabrics especially beautiful. I can't justify either yet (the blouse is nearly £200!) but thinking about it.

ilovecherries · 05/07/2022 14:02

that does sound very tempting, Pam!

Re the dress with the jersey top and checked skirt. Is it actually charcoal as described, or is it a true black as it looks online. Anyone know?

Countmeout · 05/07/2022 14:08

That’s incredibly dangerous @pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs . Although maybe a little try on every week would satisfy a longing without having to buy anything.

ScottishMouse · 05/07/2022 14:24

@ilovecherries , it looked pretty black to me.

ScottishMouse · 05/07/2022 14:26

Looking idly at the painted patchwork gown. I have some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket, and my old Toast dressing gown (a long check flannel one bought in the sale a few years ago) gets so much wear that I feel another would be a good investment. Anyone seen this one in the flesh?

No, but it looks absolutely beautiful. Worth a look, I think.
