Thanks for the suggestions of other places- have bookmarked.

I've also bought similar stuff from here:

High quality Breton tops, gorgeous linen separates and Toast-like Chore jackets

Yes thanks for suggestions of other brands. Some really nice things, and strangely not very much brown! 🤣

I've also tried Pink City prints for some Indian print dresses and Daughters of India which is similar.

Please continue with any other bright ideas. 😃

SmaugMum · 03/07/2022 11:05

Another British brand…this one is great for pared back, laid back shirts

TheChattyRat · 03/07/2022 11:52

Great ideas!
@SmaugMum i think you recommended before carrier clothing and old town clothing. I bought a ‘seconds’ shirt from carrier clothing - it’s really nice.
I quite like people tree for some bits and pieces too

dudsville · 03/07/2022 12:20

I love these ideas, some i recall from that thread another wanting to dress like Monty Don!

JustforToast · 03/07/2022 12:30

Thanks for all these suggestions. Keep them coming.

@MrsCat1 i hadn’t seen Sideline before but like it very much.

I had identified that Adele dress! Have already asked them to email me if it’s back in stock

dudsville · 03/07/2022 12:42

Oooh, these are lovely, but they are not more affordable!

faustina · 03/07/2022 13:21

Some great links thanks to all. @SmaugMum - yes, I tried some Folk at TKMaxx a short while ago and the things were beautifully made. I think there are still some available at much reduced prices. Have signed up for a lot of newsletters from the above links

Stravaig · 03/07/2022 13:22

I've spent the past few years wandering lost and bereft trying to find alternatives since Toast completely lost the plot from my perspective. These suggestions are pretty much the ground I've covered!

Also Lemuel MC and Beaumont Organic and OffOn. I keep looking at Gaâla but not tried anything yet. Knitwear from Bosie and Anderson & Co. Various Aus/NZ places too.

Stravaig · 03/07/2022 13:33

Ohh there's also Egg which is far, far beyond my means, but I like to dream (and it helps make everything else seem quite reasonable actually).

SmaugMum · 03/07/2022 14:02

@dudsville, if striped T-shirts are your thing, these are the best I have EVER found and, believe me, I have conducted extensive research over the years! They punch massively above their weight at £25 each and wash and wear superbly.

ScottishMouse · 03/07/2022 15:16

These look good @SmaugMum . Is the neck very high/tight though?

ScottishMouse · 03/07/2022 16:06

I should be banned from my phone when the Toast sale is on. Placed an order last night for the now slightly cheaper gingham shirt with the frill collar, a glass vase, some room spray, the collared linen tee in montella, and the new sleeveless denim dress (which I am certain will not work for me, but need to find out for sure so I can cross it off my list).
And just now I have placed another order, for the slate cotton linen trousers and the cotton linen smock dress in montella (this will either be great or awful, and I have no sense which).
I really need to stop now! Although there are still a few things I’m hoping might pop up as returns…

faustina · 03/07/2022 16:26

@ScottishMouse - please post a pic of the sleeveless denim dress when it comes! I think I have the cotton linen trousers in slate from JL a couple of years ago - they're really nice but very big. They fade beautifully

I really tried to like those cotton linen smocks but they seem so short

Saurus72 · 03/07/2022 16:32

I have some of the Apricity room spray @ScottishMouse - if that’s what you’ve ordered I think you’ll like it. I spray mine by my desk when wfh - I thought I may as well do all the things you really can’t do when you share an office!

ScottishMouse · 03/07/2022 16:34

I will @faustina, if it is not truly awful on me! The smock dress could be too short and too wide, or it could be great, so will see.
I went for an xs in the trousers as the reviews all said they were big, so fingers crossed.

ScottishMouse · 03/07/2022 16:55

@Saurus72 , it is the Essence and Alchemy Azoth Calming Aroma Mist that I ordered. Thought I could spray my yoga mat with it.

dudsville · 03/07/2022 16:58

You made me laugh @ScottishMouse , I've been the same. The amount of money going back and forth through my account is shocking.

Also, I have those trousers. I bought them in the winter sale and completely forgot about them. "Discovered" them a couple of months ago and felt silly. I like them, slate is a good colour for my wardrobe, but they haven't got the wear i expected. I think somehow they seem too mature, like the professor girlfriend in 3rd Rock. For the record, i too am quite mature! I'd like to know how others are wearing these.

dudsville · 03/07/2022 17:00

Thanks @SmaugMum , i like COS, though stripes are not for me!
