@Countmeout , Toast have replied to my email. They can't see that it was reduced, and I wonder iif I have the wrong top in mind, those G&T's knocked me sideways, I swear it was only 2! Can I check with you, was it the "cotton cashmere shirt" in ecru/black that you bught for £65 or perhaps a different top altogether?😳

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/07/2022 14:03

Very helpful, thank you - definitely looks greener.

SmaugMum · 01/07/2022 12:12

@ilovecherries , I just wanted to acknowledge your bravery in posting about your mental health and to send you lots of Toastie warm and encompassing hugs. I’m so sorry you have had such a difficult year. Your previous weight loss was amazing and I’m sure you can do it again, as and when you feel the need, but please focus on recovering your mental well-being for now.

That’s lovely of you smaugmum, thank you, made me feel a bit teary. I’m definitely getting better now, I just didn’t expect it to be such an exhausting process. I’m knackered some days, even yet.

Countmeout · 01/07/2022 14:12

No @dudsville . I bought the one @ScottishMouse has the blue and black with the frilly collar. I know the one you mean now. I don’t think it went down sadly. I like it too but thought it a bit expensive for all that I would have to wear with it. Unless they had a brief blip which I’m sure can happen and they corrected it again.

I’d be snoring after 2 G and T’s !

dudsville · 01/07/2022 14:26

Thanks, I will reply with an apology to them!

faustina · 01/07/2022 15:43

Looking wistfully at that lichen jacket which I sent back. It was such a perfect fit, except the pockets were so high up and it was just a tiny bit too short.

Has anyone got that brown wool/cotton gansey? I'd love to know if the neck is tight, or stands away slightly as in one of the photos

I get asked sometimes to review things. not always though

@ilovecherries - I'm so sorry to hear you've been through the mill and I hope you continue with your recovery. I've always been inspired by seeing how beautifully you style your clothes

@ScottishMouse - I would keep all the dresses as they all look wonderful. You've made me excited about receiving the orange one! (coming tomorrow!)

ilovecherries · 01/07/2022 17:36

Thank you all for your lovely kind comments, sorry if I was a bit ‘poor me’ there.

anyway, as I’ve really only kept the grey slouchy jumper and a pair of pyjamas (and napkins!) I decided on a last splurge and have ordered the sailor collar dress for a little look, along with the alpaca jerkin (waistcoat!). So hopefully one of the hear will spark joy!

ScottishMouse · 01/07/2022 19:11

Lots to catch up on here after a busy day! Still no decisions on the gingham dress. Didn’t have time to get to the post office today, so will have another try on tomorrow.
I’m sorry to hear about your tough time @ilovecherries . I’ve not had the best of times both physically and mentally the last year or so, so I really empathise. It is just really hard sometimes.
The alpaca jerkin is one of my sale keepers, and I am wearing it right now over a white (non-Toast) shirt with the brown Alix from last summer. It’s great, and I think it will work almost all year long. Hope it is a thing of joy for you too.
@faustina , hope the orange Edith is a winner for you. I do love it, but am not feeling the colour so much as when I bought it last year. Actually, I just haven’t been feeling dresses at all for a while now.

couldhavegonethen · 01/07/2022 21:12

My vale print circle neck dress arrived today. I’m very pleased with it! Think it will be a useful, versatile addition to my wardrobe. My first sale purchase & my fifth Toast piece. I might be a late convert but better late than never!

TempleofZoom · 01/07/2022 21:13

My order arrived and Ive just ordered more pyjamas Blush
The Painted Falls Pyjamas are lovely, so I ordered them in the yellow, same colour as the nightie.
Both come up very big but I like loose nightwear.
Similar to @Laska2Meryls I wont be paying £155 for pyjamas so ordered the second pair.
The Gathered neck organic poplin tank is absolutely gorgeous, I will live in this.
I sized down to a 10 .
I will probably buy in the Ochre but that will have to be next month.
Im sorry that you have been so unwell @ilovecherries and hope that your health is restored.
There is another not so nice thread in S&B again about what is "dated", surely everything becomes vintage eventually Grin

Saurus72 · 01/07/2022 21:42

@couldhavegonethen That dress has been on my radar for a while but I haven’t been to a Toast shop to try it on and I thought from the reviews it might be a bit overwhelming. Glad you like yours! Did you take your usual Toast size or size down?

Gonegrey31 · 01/07/2022 21:44

ilovecherries big hug to you, you’ve had a very tough time over the past couple of years. I do hope you are soon feeling a bit better . I too am inspired by the way you put your wardrobe together and you often make me look again at items of clothing I hadn’t previously considered.
i haven’t done too well in this sale, I’ve sent back the tie front trousers. A bit too quirky for me and the colour was slight too teal . I sized down and the smaller size was a good fit but I know I don’t wear them enough to justify the purchase. Everything else too brown or yellow this season for me . I’ve had an invitation to my local Toast shop ( still a good hour away) for drinks and view of new season clothes tomorrow. Tempted !

couldhavegonethen · 01/07/2022 21:46

@Saurus72 i took my usual size which is a 10 but think an 8 would be ok. It’s loose fitting but not so much fabric to make it overwhelming. Contemplating to order the 8 just to see. I’m still learning about Toast sizing.

happysoju · 01/07/2022 22:14

Some cute things in new arrivals, however is it just me or has the prices gone up esp for dresses? They used to be around $360 AUD but now it looks like they're atleast $400 AUD!
This is such a shame, but with the current climate of rising grocery and petrol prices- not sure I can afford them even in sale.

dudsville · 02/07/2022 07:36

I dreamed last night i was wearing my nice toast things to my job in a fast food restaurant.

ilovecherries · 02/07/2022 10:51

We on our way out for a late breakfast. I’m wearing wide leg flax coloured linen trousers from M&S circa 1994 with a navy vest from primari and the teardrop PJ jacket. Big faux wood earrings.

ilovecherries · 02/07/2022 10:59

That’s a bit of a traumatic dream, dudsville! Although I do tend to baby all my clothes, wash in unicorn tears etc.

Happysorju, I agree that their prices have taken a hike lately. They’ve never been cheap, but they’ve had a step change, I think.

EmmatheStageRat · 02/07/2022 11:13

dudsville · 02/07/2022 07:36

I dreamed last night i was wearing my nice toast things to my job in a fast food restaurant.

Do you have a job in a fast food restaurant? If so, I urge you not to ruin your Toast beauties by wearing them to work. 😅

If not, maybe it is a carpe diem-type dream where your subconscious is encouraging you to live your best life every day and wear your finest Toast gown to put out your bins, for example.

See, I have totally contradicted myself there.

But if I could give anyone any decent advice here, a bit like that Baz Lurhmann song Suncreen, it would be to invest in decent moth spray!

dudsville · 02/07/2022 11:18

Love the Baz Lurhman song!

I think the dream was about guilt. That my lifestyle doesn't afford my toast purchases. Irl though i did set money aside for this!

Laska2Meryls · 02/07/2022 11:50

I think none of our lifestyles do Dudsville , ...notice how we jump on every sale !!
Mine certainly doesn't..

OP posts:
faustina · 02/07/2022 13:53

There are RULES for wearing Toast clothes: you can climb rusting farm machinery or drape yourself round snarled fruit trees, and you are allowed to live in a semi-derelict house, especially if in a forest. You can also wear them in a studio of any kind. I think a big hand would come out of the sky if you wore them to a fast food restaurant job @dudsville, and rip them off you, and then where would you be?

Anyway, the pretty orange dress is a weird fit - beautiful colour though - so it's going back and I am VERY cross about my brass Alix trousers which I washed very carefully for the first time yesterday. They leaked colour into everything else in the wash! Luckily it was all oatmeal, beige-y (inc beige Alix) and so it's all just a bit yellower than it was before, but if anyone else has them and hasn't washed yet - do them on their own!!!

faustina · 02/07/2022 13:53

GNARLED fruit trees

dudsville · 02/07/2022 14:11

😂, what if i carried an interestingly shaped twig and held it at odd angles whilst flipping the burger in a creative way, and made the buns from home grown spelt?

dudsville · 02/07/2022 14:13

I've not had that before @faustina , how disappointing. Is anything damaged?

Countmeout · 02/07/2022 14:27

Thanks for the warning @faustina , I haven’t washed mine yet.

Contemplating things in general, it’s a wet afternoon here nothing else to do, think I prefer an archive sale as there’s always something missed that you want in it.
also finding when it is warm some toast things are too warm, consequently I bought a couple of lighter (and cheaper) dresses from m and s for holiday although I took my Kado it felt quite heavy. I also have bought a cheap pair of wide leg ecru culottes which are far lighter than the same in Annie’s and have been wearing them a lot at home.
