So today I have reordered the teardrop PJ bottoms as a S came back in.. hopefully they will look less like clown trousers on me ( the M were huge)
Also the long striped grandad shirt which is a new 'try', as its reduced to 55 .. I like those long shirts but reviews are mixed.. worth a go though

@ScottishMouse , I like the top right and bottom left on you!

I'm also enjoying the discussion re menopause . I gained 2 stone over the pandemic. I've worked hard since december to try to lose this and have managed 12 pounds. I've never had to work so hard and I do think my age must be a factor.

The bud check dress arrived today. The pattern and colour mix are so much better irl, much more blue and green than orange, and it's an instant yes in many ways, however I sized down one dress size for it and should have gone down 2, but it's no longer available. I will have a proper look at it later and see if I can tweak it.

INo response yet to my request to Toast for a reduction re that top that was reduced hours after my purchase. Fx.

Plus you wont get much for Toast on ebay any more , I have just sold a few things, but withdrew the last two because people are not even bidding much over the low starting price .. And ebay fees are so much these days. I get so annoyed that they charge fees on postage now
You may do better on Vinted though ..

I agree. Sold a few things and not getting much over starting price. I reckon it's because there is a sale on and people are watching what they spend. The real stinger is the fees. It's now taking a lot off what you make and it is incredibly annoying they make money from the postage. How is that fair?

neveradullmoment99 · 01/07/2022 10:59

No experience of selling on other sites but I don't see much going when things are priced like ebay. I think people who sell on vinted have to ask for less.

Stravaig · 01/07/2022 11:01

I also use Buy It Now, never auction, and only list when I receive a Seller's Offer, which hugely discounts the fees. Detailed listings, immediate payment, no offers, no returns - makes for decisive buyers, I think, but it does take a while sometime. For Toast items, new with or without tags, or worn once, from the past 5 years or so, around the sale price is realistic, which isn't too bad (and great if bought in the sale in the first place). Pre-loved or older collections, it's more about passing it on, so I just set a low-ish price and wait until it finds that one person who will be delighted. I'd love to try Circle for these, but I'm a long way from the nearest shop.

What ihave discovered is that Toast is forgiving over quite a big size range, for which I’m very grateful! I lost 6 stone in 2017 at the age of 59, and bought an entire new wardrobe. I even needed new shoes. Then last year I had what used to be euphemistically called ‘a bit of a breakdown’ after having had very robust mental health all my life. A year of not being able to give a shit coupled with a number of antidepressants and I’ve re-found 2.5 stone of that original loss😡. I’m trying not to give myself a hard time about it till I’m fully well but I’m pleased to find that while my toast clothes do fit differently, they do still fit and I look fine in them. The only think I’ve had to shelve are fixed waist trousers and dresses like the Edith as the waist buttons don’t fasten. But everything else is pretty much ok.

TheChattyRat · 01/07/2022 11:47

I tend to buy a lot of toast from eBay but recently haven’t found anything of interest - and actually I tend to find the prices a bit high on eBay! E.g seed dresses on there for over £100. Just sharing buyer’s viewpoint. Don’t see that much toast on vinted etc but don’t look as often.
so seems like the second hand toast market is not so active at the moment. Maybe it is since JL stopped selling (and discounting) - I often saw things on there that had been bought in JL sale with the express purpose of selling at profit on eBay.
I really regret selling a pair of Felix jeans.
I also agree Toast is forgiving of weight fluctuations.

@ilovecherries , I just wanted to acknowledge your bravery in posting about your mental health and to send you lots of Toastie warm and encompassing hugs. I’m so sorry you have had such a difficult year. Your previous weight loss was amazing and I’m sure you can do it again, as and when you feel the need, but please focus on recovering your mental well-being for now.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/07/2022 12:34

Just a thought, where do all the reviews come from on Toast? Is it only kindred members? I've bought loads over the past 2 years and never been asked to review anything, and can't see a link to review items.

SmaugMum · 01/07/2022 12:37

So, my personal review of my Toast sale, although I really like the Pepto Bismol t-shirt (I have sensory issues and I hate ‘crunchy’ fabric tees) and I also own THAT pink check dress (£20 from JL so it was a no-brainer for tightwad me and it is a perfect, airy frock for our beach hols), so you may not wish to read on! 😅

The patchwork and Ikat gown - I adore this and I’m mightily relieved that it has not been reduced further (yet)
Pottery West vases in the two colour ways - I collect vintage ceramics and I love the simplicity of PW’s work. I’ve been collecting foliage and flowers from the hedgerows (see, I am SO Toast).
Fern Print dress - a random JL, middle-of-the-night bargain; I wore this for sports day yesterday and garnered three compliments. However, I didn’t participate in the parents’ race, having seen the viral video of the mum who went arse over tit and mooned to the entire school.
Pepto Bismol t-shirt - I love the width, length and ‘fineness’ of the fabric, plus the elbow-length sleeves, and I will wear it with my Jessa dungarees - and not care that I look like a third of a Neapolitan ice cream.
Veja Campo trainers in black - I walk two miles through woods up a BIG hill twice a day for the school run and I find Vejas as comfy as slippers. Also, I hate how grubby white trainers can become.
Linen wheat bag set - I have bought industrial quantities of these as they are so lovely (the set comes packaged in its own envelope-style cloth bag. Even my six-year-old has commandeered her own ochre linen eye bag for sleeping at night. At £22 instead of £65, the set is stunning value as the two accompanying essential oils are worth £22 on their own. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas?!
Ochre shirt dress - not worn yet and I may not wear it this summer but I love it and it will do for next summer.
Wax wraps - not much one can say about these except they bring a little bit of luxury to my kitchen and are great for my kids’ packed lunches.
Marl stripe socks (brown & ochre) - simply beautiful and I wish I could pull off the socks & Birkies look
Pottery West stubby candle holder - who can afford electricity any more????!
Olin dress - I’m just off to the Post Office to collect this but I have very high hopes, especially as it comes highly recommended by @ToastCosILoveIt

Maybe don’t get too much hope up @Laska2Meryls . Mine have arrived. I ordered xs (usually do this with elasticated waist things) in real life 10 bottom usually fits. Far too wide in the legs. The cream top I was doubtful about is too big and too cream. Total fail .

dudsville · 01/07/2022 13:01

@Theteapotsbrokenspout , I get sent emails asking me to reviews items. SOmetimes this can be a week or three after purchase. I would be curious to know if it's only kindred who get invited to do this.

@SmaugMum , your post made me smile - I'm delighted to know someone loves that dress, and what an incredible bargain! I LOVE the look of those trainers you bought. I was sorely tempted but I have a black and white pair that I like, so I will sit with my envy. And I do love socks and birkenstocks combos, but I stick to calmer looking Birkenstock socks for those occasions - wearing socks, birkenstocks and a pair of cinnamon Toast cords prompted a new colleague who I'd previously only met on line to spontanously say "Oh, you're..." I just forgot the word for the style trend a little while back, the bearded plaid shirt wearing men are a part of this group..... but anyway. I'm off to the post office to impress them with my Toast returns, again.

Stoic123 · 01/07/2022 13:07

@ScottishMouse - looked again at the photos and I would keep them all unless you really need the wardrobe space. They all look nice on you.

Stoic123 · 01/07/2022 13:19

@SmaugMum - I am loving my what bag set (lying down with the small one on back of neck as I type). Have also stocked up for presents- they are great.

Also really like the Pottery West candle holders (alas bought full price).

So pleased to hear some love for raspberry check dress.

Stoic123 · 01/07/2022 13:27

@ilovecherries - sending love and wishing you a full recovery.

Snowyowl78 · 01/07/2022 13:30

I rather like some of the new stuff, the cobalt workwear jacket is very WOW, Altho I can’t possibly buy it as I have 3 new toast jacket. Also the wool jumper in teal and the new Emma. I’m not allowed to buy anything though as I have spent far too much in the sale. I also like the pepto bismol tee @SmaugMum and yes it’s very ice-creamy!

Stoic123 · 01/07/2022 13:35

@dudsville - hipster?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/07/2022 13:40

@Snowyowl78 I like that in the stone colour but can’t decide if it’s too similar to the lichen that was in the sale.

Snowyowl78 · 01/07/2022 13:47

@Theteapotsbrokenspout i think it’s the same jacket

dudsville · 01/07/2022 13:54

Another support hug from me @ilovecherries .

And yes that's it @Stoic123 , which I am not, so it was funny! It was however a very toast outfit of socks/birk/cord.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/07/2022 13:55

Snowyowl78 · 01/07/2022 13:47

@Theteapotsbrokenspout i think it’s the same jacket

Really! The same colour as well? It was definitely called lichen in the sale.
Must be why I like it so much Grin .

Snowyowl78 · 01/07/2022 13:57

@Theteapotsbrokenspout oh no different colour, just the same pattern. I like both but the stone is very similar to lichen (I have it) but is greener to my eye. I love the blue but I wear a lot of blue trousers so probably not very practical

@Snowyowl78 I’m on my ipad it’s a job to distinguish colours sometimes, I’d prefer greener. I’m in London next week I wonder if it will be in store yet.
