Thanks for the heads up on the restock everyone! Managed to nab the Cotton linen smock dress (putty) that I ummed and ahhed and eventually missed out on in the beginning of the sale. Happy with the two things I bought so far but wouldn't say no to further reductions...

dudsville · 29/06/2022 08:08

It makes sense@faustina , i think watching it come and go from the JL website made me think there was something inherently wrong with it.

I was excited to see the vine print dress back but sadly not in my size. I did buy one more thing though. This truly is like the end of the Christmas holidays when you've got used to eating sweets everyday and start having things you don't even particularly enjoy. I bought the Bud check dress. I mean, i love check/plaid/gingham, but i never looked at this dress previously and thought that was something i wanted. Oh well. I won't keep anything that i don't love so it doesn't hurt anything to try it.

One package arriving today, another one tomorrow! Happy holidays everyone!

Countmeout · 29/06/2022 08:33

Has anyone actually got the pink dress ? Or given it a try out of interest?

Missed the returns this morning. Probably best.

Has anyone noticed a couple of Instagram posts of what I assume is the new drop is also rather unfortunately rather brown.

dudsville · 29/06/2022 08:47

I tried it. I don't like a string belt, but the main problem was the cut/pattern. Like the gorgeous black and red pihu dress and this seasons pale check version, that style just doesn't suit me. Anyone else here tried it?

Saurus72 · 29/06/2022 10:29

I tried the pink dress last summer. It had been returned to my local JL and was reduced to £20! I’m a solid 14 and it was a 12 - my usual Toast dress size. It was absolutely ginormous and the pink was very unflattering on my pale with yellow undertones skin. I can see if you have a deeper skin tone it could look good though.

@Countmeout not more brown! I was counting on the new season stock to replenish my dress stocks, boo 😒

TheChattyRat · 29/06/2022 10:58

I’ve also seen it in the flesh and it is a much browner tone. I like the colour on screen but it is quite different I thought.
I've just bought the blue cords in the sale now so my purchases are ramping up. It’s only the gingham bottomed dress I am interested in now, but I would like it to go down in price first!
oh no about the next season still being brown 😫

ilovecherries · 29/06/2022 12:26

I’ve returned the painted falls pyjamas - looked completely different on screen with the predominant tone irl being mud. Have also returned the pink tee. I wouldn’t have thought it was possible to dislike a pink tee shirt but I looked as if I’d thrown a bottle of pepto bismol over myself. Colour did nothing for me, nor did the shape.

dudsville · 29/06/2022 12:37

🤣@ilovecherries re the pink tee!

The patchwork dress, the 70s looking one, is wrong in every way. The fabric on the side that's printed feels plastic, like it's heavily laden with dye, the print is really fabulous but this alone is off putting. The collar and sleeves are overwhelming.

The blue check dress, as a 14 i git a medium but its too big and not in a swishy way, so it's also going back.

I got two sets of pjs, striped and the ecru check, both in medium. This was a risk as I'd tried the double cotton check pjs and they didn't work because of the size discrepancy between the top and bottom. The striped ones suffer the same fate, but the ecru check are fabulous, and the only thing being kept from this bag!

Loving your description of mud 😂
As for the pink tee -mine is going back. The colour was lovely but the shape and the thinness was not good. It was largely unflattering.
The alix in the sand colour going back. They are fine, just not my colour.
The chocolate brown wide leg in a medium were huge on me and very unflattering at the waist where it has a slight pleat. The only thing I am keeping is the piccolo check dress. It is fab.

Laska2Meryls · 29/06/2022 13:34

Total return of all my 3 remaining orders ...I dont like any of them !!
The brick and navy jumper is really short and wide with totally impractical bell shape sleeves , nice colours, (a bit brown though, )
The teardrop PJ trousers make me look like a clown, the black, rust, ecru and yellow striped Emma just doesn't work on my pale skin .. ( I look like a liquorice all sort! 🤣). Slate Ukiyo PJs just no .. ( ive persevered with that fabric but it just not me ) too big anyway even in M .. and the Avery scarf . Its nice but not £60 nice.. So all back !
Halo

' Pepto Bismol ' 😂Cherries

They seem to be getting their colours quite wrong this season.. I am certainly not looking forward to more brown .. Its just not a colour I wear ..

First of two parcels I am expecting today has arrived. Some keepers and some going back.
Going back is the white Oxford long shirt (not in the sale). Too long and the neck is too high.
First keeper is the grey alpaca mix jerkin. Very cute and will work with lots of things.
Second keeper is the blue gingham dress (in the same fabric as the wide wrap trousers and the long shirt). Lovely fabric, good length on me at 5’2”.
Third keeper is the slate cotton linen twill shirt. I knew I would love this as I have the pecan one from earlier in the season. It is still £££ in the sale, but if I wear it as much as the pecan version, it will be worth it.
I’m swithering about the blue gingham shirt with the large ruffle collar. I love it, but I wonder if the collar is just a bit too much on me. Will try it on later again and see.
Still waiting for the jersey/gingham dress, the off white tee the same as the pink one (but your reviews are not making me expect much @ilovecherries and @neveradullmoment99 ), and the bigger size in the lofty sweater.

Snowyowl78 · 29/06/2022 14:22

@ScottishMouse which shirt is the skate one? I just got the Brass one and I like it but it’s a bit big and I’ve also got 2 jackets recently slightly similar so I should probably not keep it. Tempted to try the 10 though.

ScottishMouse · 29/06/2022 14:25

It’s the same as the brass one @Snowyowl78 It is big, i sized down to an 8 (usually a 10 or sometimes 12 in Toast shirts). I have worn the pecan one (now out of stock) so much, both as a shirt and as a light jacket. The brass one is beautiful too, I saw someone wearing it in the Edinburgh Toast shop recently. Not my colour though.

ScottishMouse · 29/06/2022 17:22

My second parcel of the day arrived. The pebble tshirt is going back, both the colour and style are awful on me. The lofty sweater in a medium is nice and slouchy, but maybe too slouchy, still trying to decide between the two sizes.
I can’t remember who wanted to know about the dress with the jersey top and the gingham skirt, sorry. Anyway, it is going back. I sized down as reviews said it was huge, and the xs was fine size wise, but it just felt cheap and not well thought through. The fabric of the skirt is really thin, and the jersey top felt too heavy for it. The top part also felt cheap and wasn’t flattering. It was a clear no for me.

Snowyowl78 · 29/06/2022 18:35

@ScottishMouse thanks for the info, I have reordered the 10! I love the colour but the shoulders are too big. I think that th e lofty jumper is designed to be short but wide and sit above a shirt/tee underneath. The M is plenty big on me and I’m a RL 14 really. Anyway, depends how you want it to look?

ScottishMouse · 29/06/2022 18:38

Yes, @Snowyowl78 , I think you might be right about the lofty sweater. I’m finding it hard to decide though, as I do like the feel of a slouchy fit, though the neater one may be more flattering.
Hope the 10 in the brass shirt works.

ScottishMouse · 29/06/2022 18:39

I think I am going to send the gingham shirt with the big collar back. It is lovely but not for me.
Also swithering a bit after trying on the blue gingham dress again. There’s something that is putting me off it, but I can’t put my finger on what. Has anyone else bought/tried it?

ScottishMouse · 29/06/2022 18:55

I see there are some new things sprinkled about the website in the different categories. Not one thing that takes my fancy though. Lots of browns and yellows.

ilovecherries · 29/06/2022 19:27

I have it and have worn it a a fair bit, but I also have the micro gingham dress in the same style and I think I was the only one who liked that as well so you might not want to trust my judgement! I find them incredibly comfy and wore the micro gingham through the winter with a black fine knit cashmere underneath with tights/boots etc.

It was me! Thanks for that. Saves me an order. Considering that it was over £200 or just about £200 I have no idea how that is justified.

Saurus72 · 29/06/2022 19:36

I’m very interested to try This dress.

It may be too brown, I do really like the nod to 70s style, I could see myself wearing it with knee boots, maybe layered with a long sleeve merino t-shirt.

Laska2Meryls · 29/06/2022 19:46

I like the shape of This jacket ....but ruddy Brown!! ( And madly overpriced again) .
