Exactly. Lots of shops sell kids type stuff for adults. There are Care Bears t shirts in Asda at the moment.

And you think that’s the same as the outfit this model is wearing? And the styling of the photo shoot?

AmbushedByCake1 · 13/05/2022 10:22

Fully grown man dressed as a little girl = sexual fetish.

Their tights are shit as well.

TurquoiseSwirl · 13/05/2022 10:22

Their usual tights are good. Their chrismtas print ones were a different material and truly shit.
i ordered some and apparently I was supposed to know that I had ordered legacy stock that was a back order and would take 5months to arrive. They didn’t all turn up in the end and I’m still out of pocket but gave up trying to contact customer services.

they started out great and then went awful.

3peassuit · 13/05/2022 10:22

I find grown men or indeed women, dressing up as 5 year old fantasy girls creepy. I don’t want to see it filter into mainstream advertising.

HailAdrian · 13/05/2022 10:23

MistyFuckingQuigley · 13/05/2022 10:18

It's always in plain sight and when the shit hits the fan people like HailAdrian will be the first to exclaim "but why did no one say anything?!" Here we are, saying something and you are dismissing our concerns in the name of "inclusivity" and putting men and their fetishes first. You should try getting a fucking grip.

Nahhh, in real life, most of us recognise that there are much more serious issues than men (or women) in patterned hosiery.

SoggyPaper · 13/05/2022 10:24

I don’t understand why people always say the tights are great. They don’t wash well. They go all bobbly pretty quickly.

And the claims of ‘inclusive sizing’ so everyone gets a good fit are bollocks. I am slim (but not remarkably so - size 8/10) and 5’5 (with long legs). The size A/B do not fit me. They’re weirdly baggy at the ankles.

In theory, I like the wide range of colours etc. but in practice the tights are shit.

I hate their advertising campaigns. They focus only on the extreme and provokative ends of everything. Most tights buyers are just women who want to buy tights that fit and go with their more or less ordinary clothes. A man dressed as a toddler clown doesn’t help with that. It doesn’t feel inclusive in the least. It too often feels intentionally provokative with an underlying air of judgement against anyone who just wants to see what the tights might look like on a woman going about her daily business. Do they have to be reclining in a forest, legs spread wide?

So I returned to buying my tights from M&S. They fit and wash so much better. (Although the quality has nosedived there too so they ladder at the drop of a hat these days).

takingmytimeonmyride · 13/05/2022 10:26

I love Care Bears. I wear dungarees, DMs, bright colours. Would I dress like this though? Err, no. It's quite bizarre and rather unsettling.

I also have no problem with men in tights, as long as it is a man in tights, not a man who thinks putting tights on makes him a woman. Or even a "they/them" Nope, still a male.

@TurquoiseSwirl

If you paid by credit card and even if you did wait the 5 months contact your credit card company for a charge back.

You may get your money back and they have to argue with the credit card company.

Blimey, don't ever visit dollskill.com, you'd not cope!

You may be surprised to know that not many of us do not visit sites like that.
It's a very specific set of interests that lead someone there.
Quite niche.

SoggyPaper · 13/05/2022 10:30

It’s not the Care Bears that are the problem.

In fact, if I were a person who just likes Care Bears, I’d be annoyed that it was all being couched in weird fetishy ways.

Flyinggeese1234 · 13/05/2022 10:31

ToffeeNotCoffee · 13/05/2022 09:35

Fat shaming ?

No.

DangerNoodles · 13/05/2022 10:32

I know a few snag fans and thier almost cult like obsession with a tights brand is just so weird.

Why anyone would fall over themselves to justify this creepy image I don't know, but I'm guessing they are part of the snag obsessed collective.

CleanerFail · 13/05/2022 10:33

Their tights are shit tbh anyway. I can’t work out how they are different from regular cheap tights - they still droop and still cut my tummy in half.. Heist tights is where it’s at - despite major £££££, 1 pair lasts eons.

hellrabbitishere · 13/05/2022 10:35

ditavonteesed · 13/05/2022 10:16

Slightly disturbed by some of the opinions on here, I am an adult woman, a mother of 2. I collect vintage my little ponies and have loads of things with Care Bears on, they make me happy. I am not a paedophile. (Also I'm aware I've spelt that wrong but I'm not googling to find out how to spell it) These things make me happy, remind me if my childhood, I don't believe I am a child I am well aware that I am a middle aged woman.

im not commenting on the tights , the model as i couldnt give a rats bottom about the advert and i hate tights , but your post caught my eye as i have to agree with what you have said , so much is about oh your an adult , arent you too old for that stuff , and how weird , but i love rabbits , got real ones , but i collect plush ones , i literally have over a hundred , taking up one side of my double bed , cuddle a different one each night , having them generally makes me feel calmer and if im unwell or anxious which is frequently comforted , yet iv lost track of the amused looks i get even from mates if any mention of my bunny collection is mentioned 😅 although they do know me by now so i never get the weird looks like i would if i told a random stranger my love for my cuddly buns ,
it does piss me off a bit im 50 this year , i know also im not a child , i dont need to grow up , i am grown up , got a 13 year old , got job ,run a house , get so annoyed by peoples opinions on adults that might still get pleasure from kids toys . as for sylvanian families dont even get me started , my dd has to drag me out of smyths toys away from them lol. i swear if i won the lottery id have a room in my new big home devoted to them, id buy everything from the range and make a huge village , i love the details , the quaint old fashioned furniture , the lovely little cute animal families . they really are bloody adorable . and the fact i love these things doesnt make me anything i dont think

maybe people like us are just more honest and true to ourselves

Snowflakes1122 · 13/05/2022 10:36

Guessing fetish is their target market? 🤢

Who even dresses like a clown? Can’t imagine wearing that to office or out with friends!

OvOvO · 13/05/2022 10:37

Well they've scored a hit with this advert - no such thing as bad publicity.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 13/05/2022 10:38

Their products aren't to my taste but that is fine, I am not their market. However, the image in that add is creepy and inappropriate - a sexualised adult child.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 13/05/2022 10:38

The thing is, they've used female models in 'toddler' type clothes before and nobody batted an eyelid. Suddenly they've used this outwardly male appearing model and everyone's in uproar...yet it's nothing to do with them being male (or at least male appearing - we have no idea if they're male/trans or what?)

Lookingoutside · 13/05/2022 10:38

‘They could be a trans cat for all I care but why so they need to look like an over grown sexual toddler?’

They might be A little. Snag seem to be targeting the little community. It’s an aspect of being a submissive for some people. A kink, if you like. Google it.

Nothing to do with children or pedophiles.

Great. But what has that got to do with the imagery in the OP?

Squealier · 13/05/2022 10:39

HailAdrian · 13/05/2022 10:04

Not everybody lives in generic Boden shite. Just because it's not your thing, doesn't mean it shouldn't be sold. I'm sure the company will be gutted that you're boycotting though.

Do you work in retail / PR? I do and I can tell you that your target base raising concerns about infantilising fashion/ cosplaying toddlers isn't great news.

WowStarsWow · 13/05/2022 10:40

OvOvO · 13/05/2022 10:37

Well they've scored a hit with this advert - no such thing as bad publicity.

Well there is if it results in most people saying they’re turned off the brand and will never buy from them!

I can only imagine the people who are effectively saying “but I dress like this” can’t tell the difference between clothes that an actual child might wear (dungarees) and fetishised “child clothes” (pigtails, pastels, clown makeup, loads of frills and bows). Or maybe being wilfully obtuse.

It. Is. A. Fetish 🤮

I looked at the heist website and just could get past the whole tights with no pants underneath thing. 😱

I guess it’s to make it easier to see the design of the tights, but it makes me think about thrush. 🤦🏻‍♀️

How do you know no one batted an eyelid. I have rolled my eyes and shut the snag website more than once.

they do a great range of colours. But the website (and the quality) make me not want to buy their tights.

ReadyToMoveIt · 13/05/2022 10:44

I actually love the idea someone thinks the only alternative to dressing in frilly, satin, unicorn themed costumes is shopping in Boden 😂.
