I had to google that. Fucking hell.

I know! 😂I first came across Broneys when I was part of a well-known TV show/competition. As we were heading to be interviewed with our team, one of members of another team (adult male) rushed up to us, and placed a My Little Pony on the item we were competing with. The MLP was, ahem, returned to him immediately. I asked my DS what the fuck that was all about and he told me the guy was a Broney. When I looked it up afterwards I found it disturbing, to say the least.

The ‘little girl’ styling is fucking creepy.

Perfectly ok for other brands to style girl/teen models in sultry poses though, yes?

Hilarious

You've been here long enough to know MN is not ok with girls and teens being sexualised. I hoped you didn't get any ticks making that strawman. 🙄

LivingDeadGirlUK · 13/05/2022 13:37

I love my snag tights but yes this is really not a very pleasant shoot. However their website has multiple images for each product showing a diverse range of body types etc, I think they are a brand with really good intentions. Execution just needs work!

WowStarsWow · 13/05/2022 13:37

Enough yourself 🙄 I posted this image because it was the one that came up for me on Pinterest this morning. That’s why it says “Promoted by Snag Tights”. You can’t seek out Pinterest ads so how did I “choose” it? 🤣

@CrunchyCarrot ok shall I say it more plainly?

He looks like he’s wanking?

Did you not spot the irony?

Are you saying that all trans people are fetishists? Because this image clearly portrays a fetish being acted out. You’re the one who’s determined this is a trans person. Why are you so keen to link trans with fetishism?

Oh, enough now. I wonder why you didn't choose to post one of the many many pics of female models wearing similar outfits. Because you knew you'd get the response you wanted. It's absolutely no surprise that people like you are mocked, you make mumsnet look silly.

My last post was replying to this post.

To me he looks like Grayson Perry when he's dressed up. Does Grayson get demonised? Pretty sure he doesn't

Snag Tights make really good product, bought quite a few of their products and always been impressed by their quality. I also like their website where most of the models are plus size, it's a very inclusive brand.

DomesticatedZombie · 13/05/2022 13:40

Fetishes including age play are just all pure harmless fun. Men can parade and celebrate their kinks and women are required to applaud them for their bravery.

I strongly recommend women read up just a little bit on fetishes and paraphilias in general. They are incredibly rare in women, which is why, I think, many women find they are a bit hard to understand, generally.

Careful, you'll hurt yourself with a reach like that.

You're desperately flailing about, clutching at straws now because your own transphobia has been called out. You are making a fool of yourself now. Just put down the shovel, you've done enough to embarrass yourself.

ClaudiaWankleman · 13/05/2022 13:42

@DomesticatedZombie
But he isn't actually dressed as a little girl is he. He's not wearing a sleep suit and a nappy (and I believe there are people who actually do that). His image isn't objectionable because it isn't a little girl.

I could dress up as Gerry Adams and give away free Irish car bomb shots but the image wouldn't actually be offensive unless I read as GA.

I'm sure his dressing up in children's themed clothing and positioning of children's toys in his lap all innocent fun.

Do you need a break from the internet?

WellThatsMeScrewed · 13/05/2022 13:45

Sigh, in plain sight.

I’m so fed up with the gaslighting.

Good luck @WowStarsWow I’m out.

(yes I’m flouncing but I might as well do the whole hog of MN stereotypes)

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 13/05/2022 13:46

Isn't it odd that some posters are so heated about defending a company's advertising campaign?
Snag Tights have deliberately shifted their advertising. I see their ads on insta all the time and they had quite a bit of pushback from their customers when they started moving to ads like this. What's interesting is that since that first time, when they were quite conciliatory to their customers - they've moved even more in that direction. I think women with DCs may not be their target market anymore.

This is another interesting article. Again, lots of Grayson's own words.

dangerousminds.net/comments/grayson_perry_rebel_in_a_dress

And I'll try a picture, although the picture function seems to be a bit messed up right now.

And the salient part of the quote from the article I posted upthread:

'For me, dressing up as a little girl is about experiencing the vulnerable quintessence of female femininity. It's shorthand for the kind of attention I want. It's about a fantasy of humiliation, too. Humiliation plays an enormous part in all fetish.'

You may not think he looks like a little girl; he is clearly aiming to look like a little girl, as he says in exactly those words.

Yes that’s what I’m finding odd too. Snag know what they are doing, this is the direction they have chosen.

Yes. It really is odd. To spend hours and hours trying to deny the obvious and insulting, mocking and jeering at a group of people having a discussion about it. Really strange behaviour.

theemperorhasnoclothes · 13/05/2022 13:52

When anyone mentions 'transphobia' now I use it as shorthand for 'gives no shits about women and children and doesn't understand safeguarding'.

It saves so much time.

I wonder what word they're saving for when trans people actually do get abused or beaten up by men? Seems to me throwing a word like this around so much it's meaningless doesn't really help trans people at all.

JanisMoplin · 13/05/2022 13:52

I notice these days that it is cool to poke fun at middle aged mothers on social media. Pearl clutchers. Boring. Transphobic. Blah blah blah.

Except we are the ones who hold the purse strings. I am the GC person who has access to money in this house. My inclusive 'open-minded' DC do not. And I literally cant figure out how their tights will look, shorn of all this porny messaging.
