I’ve seen the Disney loungefly backpacks and love them! Really want one but think it’s a bit childish for me. Aibu to get one?

Crikey, some posters would do well to note that OP has posted in Style and Beauty not AIBU. There is really no need for such aggressive replies about a bag.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 14/03/2022 14:36

I hope OP comes back to see what a meal we've made of answering a simple question about a backpack!

Myshitisreal · 14/03/2022 14:40

@ANUsernam

Check the size would be my only thought. If it's a product aimed at children the dimensions might be too small to be comfortably used by an adult
They're adult bags.

I have a black one with small jack skellington faces on it and I love it.

Mumsnet isn't necessarily the target audience for dressing a little/lot outside the box. Some will of course.

I'd never heard of Boden,
Joules, white stuff etc until I joined here, neither would I suit those clothes. It's just not my style.

Buy the bag if it makes you happy.

ExConstance · 14/03/2022 14:41

I'm afraid I am a bit judgemental about some bags. I'd smile at the OP if I met her with her new purchase but when I see someone who clearly thinks a Louis Vuitton with the initials over it says something about her I have a little raised eyebrow moment. As i have said on another thread recently the most successful creative I know has always carried their stuff in a Tesco carrier bag.

This is my lunchbox for work, today and every day. I don't have kids so can't blame it on using something that belongs to them. It was in the sale in a local charity gift shop and I thought it was cute. It has no impact on my ability to do my managerial job nor manage my team, but it does make me smile (and it's less likely to get lost in the melee of odds and sods of mismatched Tupperware in our office kitchen).

Get it

Spooked102 · 14/03/2022 18:25

Wow a lot of replies! Didn’t expect that. I am going to buy one. Just need to decide which one as I love most of them!
The hocus locus one is currently my fave

Life's too short. Get the bag!

Love the lunchbox.

Mines a flamingo one. Hot pink. Glittery. Amazing.

DH never nicks it.

Luna Lovegood Loungefly.

They also do a cross body bag and purse in the same material.

I'd use it for theme park days in Florida or the UK.

I own both loungefly and Louis Vuitton. So if I met you wearing one bag you’d like me, but the other you won’t. That says a lot more about you then about me.

How about let’s just not judge. There’s a crazy idea

ladyluck13 · 15/03/2022 17:41

Go for it. I'm 40 and I have loungefly backpacks, irregular choice shoes and carolina dress room dresses (they have pockets!), all are a bit bright or geeky/nerdy but make me happy.

LaughingLobster · 15/03/2022 17:41

@GregBrawlsInDogJail

You're 30, which means you're officially a big hairy adult and can do whatever the fuck you like.

Get the bag and accept the consequences or don't, but FGS don't fuck around asking people what they thiiiiiiiiink of yooooooooooou.

Brilliant answer!! Love it!!
BinkyBonky · 15/03/2022 17:42

I'm 52 and wear a winter hat with ears - it's so soft and warm, I don't give a rat's arse what anyone thinks. Do it if it will make you happy!

Mamamoo12 · 15/03/2022 17:44

I personally would use one, even though I like them. Each to their own…..if you like it then get it. The world would be a boring place if we all liked and used the same things.

Mamamoo12 · 15/03/2022 17:44

Wouldn’t use one 🤦‍♀️

YDBear · 15/03/2022 17:51

Sorry, I’m going to have to ask, why does everyone need a backpack these days? I can—a little bit—understand if you have to carry a laptop around. But for leisure? What the heck do people put in them? A handbag was good enough for my mum, and clothes with pockets are good enough for me.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/03/2022 17:52

@OnceAgainWithFeeling where did you get it from? It sounds amazing!

Zipper666 · 15/03/2022 18:05

I'm 78 and go out of my way to wear bright colors, odd colored laces and anything bright.
Enjoy being yourself as long as possible.
The greatest compliment someone can give me is "You're so childish!"

I need to balance the weight of anything I’m carrying across 2 shoulders.

Argos! About £3 in the sale. I love it!

VeryMuchFlaggingMinty · 15/03/2022 18:12

@YDBear

I bought mine as a carry on for a holiday pre-Covid.

I use it as an overnight bag every week as I stay over with my elderly mum.

I'll also use it if I go away for one or two night or when I'm camping as I pack very light.

LaughingCat · 15/03/2022 18:27

I was 32 when I saw the most adorable fluffy Pikachu backpack…and obviously bought it in a heartbeat. Love it? Get it.

fourandnomore · 15/03/2022 18:27

Had never heard of these bags before but now I’ve gone down a rabbit hole and I’m about to turn 45 and might just buy myself one - they’re beautiful! Go for it 😊

AwkwardAnnie · 15/03/2022 18:30

@JofraArchersFastestBall

I've never heard of loungefly bags, and I'm not particularly into Disney merchandise... but some of those are really well done. I'm wondering if I can convince my daughter to wear this wall-e one!

OP I wouldn't judge you, or anyone, for wearing something fun and interesting that they love. Life is too short. Plus we don't judge people (men) for wearing sports/Star Wars/music merchandise, do we?

Oooh, I've been wanting the Wall-E one for ages, but couldn't justify £70. But I can justify that price!

I'm 44, do what makes you happy, ignore the boring grown ups!
