Yes I agree scottishmouse it is all so awful , that a little distraction/ displacement from the dreadfulness is not a bad thing..(and if we can also do what we can to help a little) .. .. .. But I am also aware of the supreme irony of currently trying to find ways to save fuel bills ( and spending to do so , by changing lighting etc out) whilst also buying clothes!

I hear you @Laska2Meryls. Part of the reason I have returned most of what I have ordered recently. If I am going to full wardrobe holes, the things I do that with need to be absolutely perfect. There’s no spare cash for random lovely purchase at the moment. Definitely not for £215 shirts!

Laska2Meryls · 11/03/2022 14:03

Thanks for the trouser love everyone, I am so pleased with them and .. they feel almost cheap compared to the new Alix ..

Neveradullmoment , those (you have probably seen them before!) are my favourite trusty Hush nubuck trainers from a few seasons ago now .. I really dont know what I will replace them with when they are finally worn out ....

Thanks for the comments, agree totally that distraction/ relief from the anxiety is needed.

Just went for a very long swim Smile
Think it was just a sudden what am I doing, existential angst momentConfused
The paradox of saving/ eco living and spending on nice clothes is always there .
I have always been fairly frugal in terms of consumption etc but actually peoples livelihoods are at stake if we all just stop spending.
Will concentrate on quality and british made where possible.
Those trousers are lovely @Laska2Meryls, love them with your shoes.

IMO the price of Toast items are totally lavish, no doubt about it. I don't need half of the stuff I buy. However I do love the style and can't find anything like it in other shops. It also is long lasting and well made.I also don't do much else in my life. I look at my son that mends things and his wife who are totally frugal. Charity shops and it really wakes me up when he visits and I feel really guilty. Sadly I keep coming back :)

Interesting thoughts and I think we are allowed both to be concerned about world events and have some joy/ escapism/diversion. We had a similar reflection during the pandemic that this was a safe space and a little oasis away from real horrors. We can engage with those, I worked through the pandemic in the NHS and there were plenty of those but this thread was something sustaining and I really valued that. Anyway just my Friday night ramblings..

Laska2Meryls · 11/03/2022 19:31

Yes, agree, Applecatchers..
This has been a fab group to be part of during the last few difficult times...
Yes, Toast is an expensive 'hobby', but lets face it at least we are not MAMILs, spending out 'family money' on state of the art 4k carbon bikes etc ( Or hopefully married to any!).
Apologies to any who are or are !!🤣...
We are just 'frumpy apron and sock wearing pottery librarian types' .. ( not ! )😉

It's what are your interests some people it might be expensive substances, booze , or something more exotic. I find it difficult to believe clothing is similarly destructive. Also people approach Toast in different ways, Inc sale & eBay although I do agree that the latest price hikes seem obscene 😂

SmaugMum · 11/03/2022 20:43

Waving from my Covid-y bed (I’m typically two years too late to every trend) to say thanks for keeping my spirits up in these fraught times. I have nothing Toast-y to report, except to wonder who the lucky so-and-so was who bagged the £33 Oil Gabis on the JL site the other day?!

Even though I don’t have anything of real value to add, I wanted to breadcrumb here that there is an amazing half-price (and better) sale on the Piglet in Bed website (think £49 instead of £110 for super-stylish pure linen pyjamas). I know how much certain people on here appreciate decent jimjams (sorry, ‘loungewear’.

applecatchers36 · 12/03/2022 07:24

Sorry to hear about the Covid, hope you feel better soon smaugmum

ToastCosILoveIt · 12/03/2022 11:46

Get better soon @SmaugMum.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/03/2022 11:49

Well that was a waste of time, second lot of Space Check shorts have even more flaws than the first ones. Maybe I'm ultra fussy or maybe Toast quality control is non-existent but loads of ends threaded through on the right side, double stitching misaligned all over the place and as for loose threads Angry .
Also ordered the Novesta Star Master plimsolls but the shaped insoles are far too uncomfortable for me. Everything arrived in a huge box as well so I hope I'm not going to have issues sending it back.

Loving those pecan trousers on you @Laska2Meryls , I think I would lose faith in Toast if it wasn't for some of the 'real life' photos.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/03/2022 11:50

And get well soon @SmaugMum .

faustina · 12/03/2022 12:31

Hope you manage to arise from your covid bed soon @SmaugMum, and thanks for the linen tip.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - totally agree with you about quality control. My brass Alix have just arrived and I'm almost afraid to try on in case they're shit in some way too

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 12/03/2022 13:26

Just taken delivery of 2 jumpers, the grass green and the orange seamless. Both gorgeous but different sizes. Wish they were more consistent

billydilly · 12/03/2022 13:34

Pretty irrelevant as it's not current but I just got a Toast outfit on Depop. The jacket is corduroy and has a lovely snug fit, the skirt is dark blue with tiny spots; £50 altogether! I'm a Toast 8 and both of these are 10..

Toasties - Springing on ...
ScottishMouse · 12/03/2022 13:46

@faustina, how are the brass Alix? I hope they are great. Let us know how the sizing is. I’m wondering about reordering to see if another size 8 is bigger on the waist than the ones that I got sent.

Laska2Meryls · 12/03/2022 13:48

Hope that you feel better soon Smaug
Well.the replacement coffee linen tunic has arrived and thats perfect.. so am sending the faulty one back.. .
I noticed that they say that no more new ones are due in until June, so just a heads up, if a L appears back on the site, at the end of the next week it will most likely be my faulty one ..
Tbh theres hardly any difference in sizes between the M and L , I found - apart from strangely the armpit hole size which felt a bit snug on me, but the M I sent back also had a fault ( both had small holes in the linen , and the original L also a loose shoulder seam ).. Not at all impressed..tbh.. Especially as the first pair of space trousers also had linen weave faults ..

faustina · 12/03/2022 14:18

That jacket fits you like a glove @billydilly

faustina · 12/03/2022 14:21

@ScottishMouse - gosh the sizing is very different isn't it? will post pics later

ScottishMouse · 12/03/2022 14:31

Oh no @faustina! How have you found the sizing?
