@Countmeout - thank you so much for the heads up!
End of the month, my arse (what CS told me yesterday)
The brown ochre have already sold out in a 6! I've ordered the brass which look lovely.

ScottishMouse · 09/03/2022 13:32

Yes, thanks for the heads up @Countmeout. I have also ordered the brass, also in two sizes 🙄

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/03/2022 13:34

@ScottishMouse

Gosh, sorry, that was a ridiculously long answer!
Grin

Against my better judgement I tried the shorts on, annoyingly they look rather nice and are a good length on me.
I got the medium as there were no small in stock and although they are a bit big I think the small might have have been uncomfortable on the waist in the summer. I do wear shorts quite a bit so I know they would get plenty of wear. I’m not happy to keep these at that price but don’t know whether I really want to reorder, from previous posts I gather there’s not a lot of point in ringing Toast as they won’t do much.
I might wait until I get a chance to visit a shop and hope they have some in stock.

ScottishMouse · 09/03/2022 13:44

Our of interest @Theteapotsbrokenspout, and because I don’t usually wear shorts, how long are they on you? They almost reach my knee, and look like they could be a skirt almost, which is what I’m not sure about.

Countmeout · 09/03/2022 14:03

I ordered the Brass too. I thought two sizes after my experience with the Alix indigo which are definitely too big, thinking I may have to get them taken in if it’s not too spendy.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/03/2022 14:08

If I sit them on my waist, where they are most comfortable, they’re about the same length as the model. That’s the length I like my shorts, I wouldn’t want to show my legs in anything shorter, actually slightly longer would be fine for me as well but I know what you mean by the skirt effect @ScottishMouse.

faustina · 09/03/2022 14:14

@Countmeout - which size were too big in the indigo? The 6? I had the same problem! I think it might have been the fabric

Countmeout · 09/03/2022 14:20

No the 8 @faustina. The 6 was sold out. They’re okish but I think 6 would have been prefect. The fabric is very soft but I think they are just bigger somehow. You both will have your Brass ones before me as my post is slow. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

ScottishMouse · 09/03/2022 14:33

I have a 6 in the indigo Alix from some years back. I find them even bigger than the 8 in the cotton linen ones. They are totally perfect for me and I wish they would make the cotton linen ones as big on the waist, I always find them a little tight. Fingers crossed for everyone’s brass ones.

ScottishMouse · 09/03/2022 14:34

@Theteapotsbrokenspout, they sound a much better length on you than on me. Still swithering over whether to attempt an alteration or just send them back. Will try them on once more later and decide.

Laska2Meryls · 10/03/2022 06:52

@Theteapotsbrokenspout

What did you decide about your Space Check shorts *@ScottishMouse ? Mine arrived today but they are so full of sewing flaws that I’m not even sure if I can bring myself to try them on. They appear to have loose ends woven in across the front of the fabric, double stitching that doesn’t line up along the hem and several loose threads on the right side, as well as the same slub flaws that I think @Laska2Meryls* found on the trousers. No wonder they were a return Hmm .
They seem to have all sizes back in stock this morning if you want to reorder.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/03/2022 08:51

Thank you for that @Laska2Meryls , I have decided to reorder, not sure when I’ll get to a shop and they look so nice on.

ScottishMouse · 10/03/2022 14:01

My brass Alix just arrived, and the sizing is totally different to last year’s cotton linen ones. The legs are longer, the legs are wider, and the waist is quite a bit smaller. They don’t work for me at all. I ordered a 6 and an 8 and waist of the 6 is so tiny in comparison to the 6 I have in the indigo. And the 8 is at least an inch smaller in the waist than my size 8 cotton linen ones in both slate and the rust colour from last year. I could order a 10, but they will be too big everywhere else. So disappointing.

Countmeout · 10/03/2022 14:27

Well that is soooooo disappointing @ScottishMouse. sorry they don’t work for you. Not expecting much then, mine won’t be here until Saturday or Monday as they haven’t even it seems reached the Swansea dark hole yet .

ScottishMouse · 10/03/2022 14:40

Yes, mine arrived much quicker than I expected @Countmeout, no idea why as I didn’t pay for next day delivery.
They may work fine for you. They are just smaller in the wrong place for me - the waist. I am going to see if they have them in store next time I’m passing and check another pair, because the check ones earlier this season were massive on me in a size 8, so there is obviously mad inconsistency in the sizing.

faustina · 10/03/2022 15:00

That was amazingly quick delivery @ScottishMouse - but how disappointing! Totally agree about the inconsistency of sizing - such a pain though. what a waste of your time and energy

ScottishMouse · 10/03/2022 15:09

It really is a pain @faustina. It makes shopping online just pointless, although in store they often don’t have all the sizes to try. Frustrating.

Laska2Meryls · 10/03/2022 16:35

That's so annoying ScottishMouse ..at their prices they really should have consistent sizes. I have reordered the black coffee linen top as mine had loose stitching on the shoulder seam which I decided I could fix ( as it was the only L that had been in stock for ages until today when they suddenly had some more appear but then I found a flaw in the linen! Angry...
This is the second item I have had flawed out of this season's batch...So higher prices and less quality control it seems. Not good, Toast ...

I have just watched the new styling video on line. The assistant presenting makes the parchement linen trousers look fab: a pair of trousers that I wouldn't have thought about. Online it appears to be styled with a new blouse that I can't see under "tops and tees".

@ScottishMouse, what a shame re the sizing: I agree, it puts you off ordering.

Stravaig · 10/03/2022 19:38

The first properly lit video! I spent all the others willing them to step out of their pool of shadows. So exciting! However. I love the colour and shape of the red cardi, but it looks to be cotton, or cotton-blend, no, no, no.

And so many cream trousers! Look fabulous but not practical for me ever (nor apocalypse friendly). I'd say 'who the hell wears ecru trousers in real life?!' but I fear you'd all assure me that indeed you waft around looking elegant and graceful in just such garments 🤣

I saw that cardigan in the shop and its wool/ cotton and absolutely gorgeous.

Thats the only thing I liked out of this video and her constant " I LOVE this " grated Blush

faustina · 10/03/2022 20:00

Those trousers did look good on her didn't they? I quite like ecru trousers but can only wear them once there's no chance of mud (about three months of the year) - too wide legged and high-waisted for me. They did that either side button fastening on a pair of Japanese denim trousers which I bought and they were actually really comfortable, but didn't suit me at all (not tall enough) so they went on ebay.

Stravaig · 10/03/2022 20:03

@TempleofZoom I'm so tempted! I've checked online and it's 69% lambswool so I'm trying to convince myself I won't mind the cotton (I will). Reminds me of a gorgeous wool boucle one from Jigsaw mid 90's - but it was featherlight and snuggly and this won't be.

Wool/ cotton is lovely, I find it very useful over several seasons
I much prefer it as Im not overly keen on the quality of Toast pure wool and it washes beautifully.
Its a lovely red marl Smile

ScottishMouse · 10/03/2022 20:26

@Stravaig, totally with you on the the wool/cotton mix. I hate it. It just doesn’t hold its shape well and looks shabby much more quickly than pure wool. I otherwise like that cardigan in the brown/blue colour, but will never even bother trying it because of the fabric.
Also agree on the ecru trousers. Life is too messy for trousers in such a light colour. I did really like that style on her, but pleats don’t work for me.
