@Stravaig, totally with you on the the wool/cotton mix. I hate it. It just doesn’t hold its shape well and looks shabby much more quickly than pure wool. I otherwise like that cardigan in the brown/blue colour, but will never even bother trying it because of the fabric.
Also agree on the ecru trousers. Life is too messy for trousers in such a light colour. I did really like that style on her, but pleats don’t work for me.
How are you washing it?
I have 2 Toast Wool/ cotton jumpers and a couple Ive made and they are still in perfect condition.
I am a knitter and super careful how I wash things though, I treat them like a baby Grin

I really wish the wool/ cotton jumper this year wasnt brown, the bone one from last year is my favourite.

Stravaig · 10/03/2022 21:15

@ScottishMouse I'm same, cotton knits are ruled out immediately! So much wrongness ...

@TempleofZoom Temptress!
It's not the care (also a knitter & wear lots of wool). It's the handle: cotton is dry, stiff, cold, heavy; whereas wool is elastic, springy, warm, light. They're such different fibres, it's very odd to mix them.

Stravaig · 10/03/2022 21:26

@faustina If I ever own a pair I will need lessons in how to stay clean ...

Im not keen on pure cotton as a knitter, my poor old hands cant cope but combined its absolutely lovely, soft, warm and light but I think Im standing alone over here!
Grin
with my stash of Rowan Wool and Cotton
Ive also got the denim cotton jumper from last year and it just gets better and better with age.

neveradullmoment99 · 10/03/2022 21:41

I agree with @TempleofZoom and I absolutely love the cotton and wool mix. It is fab. I don't wash my knitwear until I absolutely have to. I think its super comfortable and warm at the same time. Its a beautiful knit and ever so soft. I love the mix. I cannot stand itchiness.

neveradullmoment99 · 10/03/2022 21:43

I have the blue cotton and wool mix cardigan from the sale and the yellow one. Its slightly marl. It is absolutely beautiful. They both are.

Countmeout · 11/03/2022 08:38

I have to agreed I like the cotton/wool mix. It’s easier to wash as well. I find the Toast wool harder work especially the wool cashmere mix, never deballed so much in my life although it’s so snuggly which is in its favour.

Another nice dress has landed

www.toa.st/collections/womens-new-collection/products/tangram-print-poplin-dress-copper
Although Im a bit hmmm about the colours.
There also seems to be another style of smock dress in addition to the baby cord and fine stripe and garment dyed linen smock style dresses Confused
I like it in the green but the world doesnt need to see my knees.

faustina · 11/03/2022 10:52

There seem to be a few dresses, both Toast and Kin, being made shorter this season. I wouldn't wear either @TempleofZoom

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/03/2022 12:20

i love that first patterned dress @TempleofZoom. I also don't want my knees exposed and so the second dress is a no.

Re the pale coloured trousers, I agree, I would be so conscious of not getting them stained so probably wouldn't buy them (although I do have cream jeans from Toast from 2020, bought via JL in the sale).

I am in the 'fan' camp for the wool/cotton mix. I like that it is a bit cooler and also (I hope) a bit more moth repellent.

TempleofZoom · 11/03/2022 12:42

@faustina and @ToastCosILoveIt to be fair the smock dress is described as below knee but both the model and I have long legs and her knee is showing in the picture.

I do like the tangram print dress and its poplin but I feel really odd to even be looking at dresses and really anxious whats happening in the world/ about the future, everything.
It feels wrong to even be considering it Confused

ToastCosILoveIt · 11/03/2022 12:56

@TempleofZoom, I know, it doesn't feel right. When I am not reading this thread I am looking at the one about taking in a refugee and thinking about that.

faustina · 11/03/2022 13:01

@TempleofZoom - I have really short legs and I know mine wouldn't be showing, however I also know it would hit just at the level where my legs would look like tree trunks

As in the middle of the pandemic, this is one of my displacement activities - a small nice thing in the middle of a sea of horrible. I don't subscribe to turning off the news and ignoring what's happening, but I do try to do other things. My other displacement activity is a treadmill but new trousers are slightly more joyful than that, and they don't hurt as much (or if they do, I will return them!). It does feel odd though

Thanks for replying Smile
Then I think well I want to support local and UK businesses if Im able.
Yes have seen that thread and in some ways Im a bit crabby as it was a whole different story with regards to Syrian refugees who were made out to be criminals by UKIP and the Tories/ press Hmm
However had probably better zip it !🤐

faustina · 11/03/2022 13:03

@ToastCosILoveIt - a friend's been doing that for a while and she's had only good experiences!

Laska2Meryls · 11/03/2022 13:05

The flat front pecan trousers have arrived , and are really good for me in the 10 , lovely fabric and its not often that I have a good fit on both waist and hips , but they are perfect for my inverted triangle shape ..Legs are also wide enough ( but not too much) to look good a little rolled up

I really love the colour also , which I think must be similar to the new Alix in Brass.

Thats a very good way of describing it @faustina and in no way criticising anyone or myself.
Just feels odd.

faustina · 11/03/2022 13:07

pic please @Laska2Meryls - would love to see!

Lovely @Laska2Meryls. I adore the colour. They look fab on you!

neveradullmoment99 · 11/03/2022 13:32

They go great with your trainers!

AmethystMoonShine · 11/03/2022 13:33

I like those on you @Laska2Meryls :)

ScottishMouse · 11/03/2022 13:38

They look great @Laska2Meryls, a much better fit than they were on me. I think the colour is so much nicer than the brass Alix too, I found the brass Alix a little too yellow for my taste. Though I would still have kept them if they had fitted.
In fact, I went to a store this morning in the hope of trying a different pair of the Alix but they didn’t have them yet, so just returned the ones I had. Also returned the lovely Gingham trousers after mulling them over for a few days. Now just still mulling over the shorts 😆
Also tried the ridiculously expensive slate shirt. I needed to get it out of my system. Not sure I managed that, it is really great. Though I would want to wear the slate one more as a jacket than the pecan one I have, but the fabric is softer and more shirt-like than jacket-like, so I’m telling myself that is reason enough not to consider it.

ScottishMouse · 11/03/2022 13:43

I’m also disturbed by the incongruity of the chat here and what is going on elsewhere in the world. But I suffer badly with anxiety, so need something frivolous to focus my attention on sometimes, so that the horrors of the world don’t destroy my mental health. I have kids that need me to be there for them, and if a little frivolous shopping and chat helps me be that, then I think that is ok.

faustina · 11/03/2022 13:51

@Laska2Meryls - they look good either way - really nice!
