Before you all say don’t be ridiculous, you’ll look like the bride- there is no bride- it’s a gay wedding. I love this. lOVE it. Could get the floral one but of COURSE I want the cream one. Can I???????

OP, can you get them to come over here to the US to get married, because it would be fine here. I think it's lovely, and I much prefer the cream to the floral.

@Kenworthington

UPDATE from the groom:

Love the dress! ‘Too much’ is a phrase you shouldn’t worry about xx

YES!!!
Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 21:08

@Mossstitch I’m not a fan of the conventional either tbh 🤣

I actually really like both of them. However I don't think they're suitable for your sons wedding.

Can you come up with another event to wear them at?! Wink

Ok. I am guilty of not reading the full thread like a pillock.

Consider me sorry

It's the wine

Keep that wine nearby in case you choke on the humble pie?

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 21:09

Possibly the red. I do like it. And red does look nice on me actually but I think it won’t ‘fit in’ so well with the colours of the wedding (which is a bit boho/pastel peaches and pampas)

Ask your sons opinion. If he supports you wearing that it's fine. May not be traditional bride and groom but the focus of the day should be on them, not you. I would go for something more subdued that tones with their theme colours

lljkk · 10/02/2022 21:10

I can't warm to this dress -- but great if OP knows it suits her.
DD ordered a prom dress a lot like this -- she hated it when it arrived.

@FelicityPike

The first frock….but in the red colour option!! Bloody gorgeous!!
Yes- this! The red would look great
LH1987 · 10/02/2022 21:11

I love them! If the groom doesn’t mind then why not? Though do keep in mind that other people at the wedding might think it’s a bit much, if you don’t care then go for it! Personally, I don’t think you should care. Enjoy the wedding. Your sons response was lovely, he seems fab.

SleepingStandingUp · 10/02/2022 21:11

@FeckTheMagicDragon

No. You will look like you are competing with the bride. Really bad form.
Seriously, you had to read TWENTY WORDS and that was too much??
Daydreamsinsantafe · 10/02/2022 21:12

It’s not over the top at all but then the weddings I go to are very very flamboyant & it would be rude to wear something simple.
I think you should go for it. You’ll look and feel a million dollars.

Love it! I’d ask them and see what they think. The reds my favourite

mowglika · 10/02/2022 21:12

Gorgeous OP, in any colour way. I would go for the cream or red. No bride to upstage here so I would wear what you want as long as your son and his fiancé ok with it!

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 21:12

It didn’t add I don’t think

YES YOU CAN !!!!

Zebracat · 10/02/2022 21:14

Size 16 and 5.8 is not fat. I like the first dress in red. But I do think it is a bit much.I have a gay son and would be wary of that cliche about over involved mothers, and for that reason would want to be very unbridal. I am also shortly attending my daughters wedding. I bought a dress and a coat in the Anthropologie sale, and I love them, they are colourful and I will wear them again. I think a lot of their clothes meet your brief. Otherwise, maybe Freepeople or Wolf and Badger. Or there’s an American designer called Brock , they do corset dresses that flatter the generously endowed, kind of romantic but edgy.

alwayswrighty · 10/02/2022 21:15

Buy it, buy it, buy it. It is STUNNING.

You might have cost me £450 though because I want it in red 🤣

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 21:15

Fuck it. I’m going to order it . In the floral. Eeeeek. I will look like a frilly toilet roll cover with some weird mummy/son issues. And I will be FABULOUS doing so

Peaches! Yes, that was one of my wedding colours (talked out of orange). What about you wear a rusty or burnt orange colour,...

Depends on what your skin tone can bear...

Etinoxaurus · 10/02/2022 21:16

Also love the Vivienne Westwood dress

alwayswrighty · 10/02/2022 21:16

@kenworthington please please upload pics of you trying it on. I want to see just how gorgeous it is.
