Before you all say don’t be ridiculous, you’ll look like the bride- there is no bride- it’s a gay wedding. I love this. lOVE it. Could get the floral one but of COURSE I want the cream one. Can I???????

Christ that is hideous! Maybe if you were in your 70s?

Gabbiadini · 12/02/2022 19:01

@Kenworthington

I agree the red might look nice but I feel that’s REALLY out there. I thought the floral one was subtle. I’m not that keen on bright colors or loads of pattern if I’m honest. I prefer muted colours. I’d wear black if I thought that would be better but I suspect that’s even MORE frowned upon than cream
My mum wore red to my wedding. However if you don’t feel like red would work then you probably wouldn’t feel comfortable even if you looked amazing to everyone else.

You are stunning in your photo and could probably look good in a bin bag. Whatever you end up choosing will, I’m sure, look beautiful.

lightisnotwhite · 12/02/2022 19:02

@Kenworthington

Ha see I LIKE the jarring between a frou frou frock and the tattoos .
I know what you mean but it really looks like you have a long sleeved top rather than rock and roll tats. You need a proper rock and roll dress to pull it off rather than a dress that’s a statement in its right perhaps.

I’ll shit now. You clearly have style. You’ll find something amazing.

5128gap · 12/02/2022 19:04

YOU look amazing. But the dress diminishes you somehow. I don't think it showcases your tats, your hair, your fab face. Basically, it doesn't deserve you. LTB and find one that does.

It’s not quite in the same vein as the OP’s dress though, is it?!

Nomorefuckstogive · 12/02/2022 19:06

I think it’s absolutely beautiful, but I also think you should consult your son x

Pangolin44 · 12/02/2022 19:07

@MyGhastIsFlabbered, I often see threads asking if items of clothing are too young for posters. I always genuinely struggle to understand what they mean, not in a 'Hell no sister, you do you' way, but in a truly confused, I'm not really sure what that means way.

I'm nearly 50 and my criteria for choosing clothes is, 'Do I like it? Do I feel great when wearing it?'.

Age 'appropriateness' doesn't come into it. I don't understand the concept of age appropriate. If it's appropriate for a 20-year-old it's appropriate for a 70-year-old.

You like something or you don't.

Nomorefuckstogive · 12/02/2022 19:13

Sorry, v slow - just read the whole thread lol 😂 Like the pink feather trimmed x

NotAnotherUserNumber · 12/02/2022 19:26

There are some great options on the Outnet in various gowns in your size range.

I think this would look great with your tattoo sleeves

Mother of the groom- can I wear this???
Pangolin44 · 12/02/2022 19:32

Ohh, I like that @NotAnotherUserNumber, if I didn't already have an Alexander McQeen gown in my wardrobe that hasn't been worn and is looking for a place to go I'd be all over it!

KimikosNightmare · 12/02/2022 19:34

@BearOfEasttown

Sorry *@Kenworthington* that is, by a country mile, the ugliest dress I have ever seen. Sad

Also, I am baffled as to why you posted this thread. You asked people for their opinions, they gave them (some very raucous and negative and not what you wanted to hear,) but they are genuine opinions. Yet you seem really angry and miffed that everyone isn't coo-ing over you and agreeing the dress is fab!

Sorry, but it's awful. It just doesn't look great. JMO.

I'm sorry but I agree you look fabulous but the dress itself looks even more like a toilet roll cover and it looks as if you're wearing a long- sleeved t- shirt under it.
JoyOrbison · 12/02/2022 19:37

Kenworthington have you looked at Pearls and Swine fir headwear or jewellery?

I tjink it would suit you epically, and be right up your street. I'm saving to get the Chaud neckpiece but I think you would style any of her stuff out!!

KimikosNightmare · 12/02/2022 19:40

@Pangolin44

FWIW, if I was going to be the MoG at a gay wedding I'd wear this and employ my cigarette holder and a massive up-do for the extra.
That's by far and away the best offering on this thread.
nanbread · 12/02/2022 19:43

I think it looks awesome. It goes with your look.

I'd like to see you in the other size.

LovelyIssues · 12/02/2022 19:43

100% wear it. If you love something you should have it. I bet you'll look amazing Flowers

Lovinglife50 · 12/02/2022 19:46

Absolutely this is fabulous! Congratulations to the happy couple

Theblacksheepandme · 12/02/2022 19:49

Now that's a good one.

myrtleWilson · 12/02/2022 19:57

The dress did look fab and I'm sorry it didn't fit - you sound awesome OP and loving @ShowOfHands posts and finally @Wagsandclaws you absolutely slayed that dress - gorgeous!

OP - if you're up for it please do create a new thread for dress search ongoing...

Also @Kenworthington DS - you have a fabulous mother and I heartily suggest a shrine to her at the wedding

Pangolin44 · 12/02/2022 19:58

Why thank you @KimikosNightmare and @Theblacksheepandme, I like to think I have exemplary taste!

Pangolin44 · 12/02/2022 20:08

@BearOfEasttown, I assume that you are joking by saying I'm joking?

That dress is amazing. I would wear the fuck out of that dress.

I'd be interested to see your suggestions?

That is stunning!! I'm tempted myself!!

BearOfEasttown · 12/02/2022 20:09

The dress @PinkSyCo posed about is lovely IMO (each to their own.) But the colour (battleship grey) is vile.

www.jjshouse.co.uk/A-Line-Scoop-Neck-Asymmetrical-Chiffon-Lace-Mother-Of-The-Bride-Dress-With-Ruffle-008261975-g261975

A nice royal blue would have been better. Or even poppy red. But that grim dank grey! Urgh. Confused

There are some lovely dresses/outfits on that site. I am bookmarking it for when my DC get married.

Pangolin44 · 12/02/2022 20:09

Also @BearOfEasttown, neat links please!

NalPolishRemover · 12/02/2022 20:14

I'm all for wearing whatever makes us feel fabulous & if you love it then go for it.
If you're looking for opinions - then I think your very heavy tattoos clash terribly with that dress & that particular combination doesn't do the dress or the tatoos any favours
The dress in a plain colour would be a far better choice particularly the cream
OR the red feather trimmed gown recently posted would be a fabulous choice
