I personally don’t care about wedding outfit etiquette so if you like it and you think your son won’t mind, go for it. Nothing wrong with a bit of flamboyance.
I think it looks far better in the black than any other colourway though.

This. It is stunning though, and I can see why you’d like an occasion to wear it. Maybe a skirt in this style with a simple top and incredible shoes.

We don’t know how old you are? If your son and partner are happy for you to wear it then go for it but be prepared to others peoples opinions like the ones you have had on here.

It’s a beautiful dress but somehow, not quite Mother of the Groom material unless they are going for wear anything, free style. It’s not really wedding guest, more Oscars, and also, dare I say it, a younger persons dress. My son asked me to wear a Channel style trouser Suit! I would have like to but am not tall enough. Bought a lovely dress and Bolero Jacket form Hobbs. Have fun at the wedding. Remember it is their day, not the proud mum’s.

Anyway I am KNOWN for mad dress sense. It will NOT be a surprise.. it would be WEIRD if I wore a traditional mother of the groom outfit. I am even considering what boots I can get away with it.

I am the mother of the groom. I know almost everyone who will be at the wedding. No one will think anything weird about it.
