Before you all say don’t be ridiculous, you’ll look like the bride- there is no bride- it’s a gay wedding. I love this. lOVE it. Could get the floral one but of COURSE I want the cream one. Can I???????

Delurkinf for pics when it arrives. My DC is called Genevieve so I’m biased in favour!

Wizzbangfizz · 10/02/2022 22:12

This has got to be a wind up

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 22:12

Ooh I love that @Really18 but. I couldn’t wear it to the wedding- need shoulders/tops of arms covered- quite heavily tattooed

I think there's some good dresses on that site but midi or ankle length would be better and look less like your standing in for a bride...
Not sure any would suit with boobs..

Perdy45 · 10/02/2022 22:15
@Retisestress my son is very outgoing and flamboyant. He’d prob love it tbh. His partner wouldn’t notice if the whole bridal party turned up dressed in bin bags 🤣
Then I say go for it! I love both of them!

Kiwirose · 10/02/2022 22:16

YES YES YES (but not in cream). The floral one could be accessorized one of the colours to jazz it up.

nettie434 · 10/02/2022 22:17

I am so happy you ordered the floral dress. What matters is that you and your son like it. Luckily if his future husband wouldn't notice if everyone was in bin bags, then he won't mind either. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

WinterCarlisle · 10/02/2022 22:18

I LOVE THAT DRESS. (The ones you tagged first OP). It’s amazing! I want it in the dark pink.

Congratulations on being mother of the groom!

As an aside, I was looking after an 82 year old lady the other day (I’m a nurse). Her twin sons are 60, both gay, both now married and she couldn’t have been more proud. She told me that they were both terrified when they came out as it was such a different time and they were worried about what she and their Dad / the rest of the family and community would say. She told me she didn’t care what anyone thought and anyone who said anything negative could FUCK OFF (her words) Grin.

I hope you all have a wonderful day Flowers

ScrollingLeaves · 10/02/2022 22:18

Absolutely not. It could even look like a joke that you were the bride.

Is this a joke?

Sickoffamilydrama · 10/02/2022 22:18

I hope it's beautiful OP when it comes. I'd probably use accessories to make it less soft floral which could tip it into bridal. How about DMs and a leather jacket, not sure if it's that kind of venue???

You know where would be great to wear it again is Henley Regatta although might be too hot.
We do a work event there so I get to study the outfits.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/02/2022 22:20

@Kenworthington

Oh I do really like that *@StatisticallyChallenged* esp in the light pink (which actually looks more peach to me). Maybe I may have to get that anyway I do really like it
I have a different (simpler) skirt from them which I am pretty sure was described as light pink and it is definitely a peachy toned pink. I'm coveting the lilac version personally but can't quite justify it.

If you haven't noticed there's an outlet section - only mention as the stock in it mostly doesn't show up when you are looking through the main shop. Worth a look too

peachesarenom · 10/02/2022 22:21

I think ask them and then wear the cream one! Looks beautiful!

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 22:22

@ScrollingLeaves aha you got me. NO. Not a joke. There is no bride. Son thinks it’s awesome, his partner won’t care. I’ve ordered it. In the floral. I realize it’s quite marmite but then again, so am I.

HoneyFlowers · 10/02/2022 22:23

Oh gorgeous dress!

tintodeverano2 · 10/02/2022 22:24

@Kenworthington

He then also said

‘Red one is lush!’

Get the red!
IheartJKRowling · 10/02/2022 22:24

@harriethoyle

Oh God - it looks like a toilet roll dolly from the top of the loo!
That's exactly what I was going to say 😳.
Fretfulmum · 10/02/2022 22:25

Love the floral one and so glad you’ve gone for it. I really don’t understand why mothers of brides/grooms need to dress down. It’s your child’s wedding day, and you deserve to wear anything! Take a look at what mothers in other cultures wear - Indian mothers of the bride/groom go ALL out and so they should Smile

Sickoffamilydrama · 10/02/2022 22:29

It may not work shape wise worth the dress

Also the colour might be wrong but what about a blazer in this kind of colour for of you get cold?

Mother of the groom- can I wear this???
LynetteScavo · 10/02/2022 22:33

You've done the right thing ordering the floral.

wetwiped · 10/02/2022 22:35

Late to the thread, but I love the original dress in red so much I had to comment - stunning. Floral looks fabulous also OP, glad you've gone for it.

IReallyLikeCrows · 10/02/2022 22:37
@IReallyLikeCrows (love your user name/ I do too actually!) it’s sold out in basically every bloody size. Sad. It’s fab isn’t it
That's such a shame. (and yes, they're great, aren't they. I want one to befriend one but so far it's not happened). I see you have ordered a dress though? Whatever it is it will be great. I love all of the dresses that I've seen you put up. Oh, and congratulations to your son and his soon to be husband. You must be so happy.

Saz12 · 10/02/2022 22:37

No one is really going to think you’re trying to sneakily marry your son (or less weirdly, your son-in-law) because you wear a flouncy dress to their wedding.

There’s enough of an age gap that people aren’t going to think you’re a jilted ex-girlfriend having a moment. And there’s no bride to upstage.
And you live the dress.

Personally I’d prefer the floral to the cream, as it looks more celebratory.

My3cents1 · 10/02/2022 22:39

No. For starters is polyester…

whattodo2019 · 10/02/2022 22:40

It's fucking ridiculous!!! Are you totally mad???
