Before you all say don’t be ridiculous, you’ll look like the bride- there is no bride- it’s a gay wedding. I love this. lOVE it. Could get the floral one but of COURSE I want the cream one. Can I???????

I love it! The floral one is beautiful.

aprilanne · 10/02/2022 21:53

I cannot believe that any mother would want to steal her childs thunder man or woman this dress is all about look at me ..its truelly awful to do that to your child .they may say it's fine but it's not really it's not. You dont have to look like your dead mum but you dont need to try to outshine your son ..look at meee honestly

Onthedunes · 10/02/2022 21:55

It looks very Dior.

The cream one.

Just asked daughter, she was a model, she looves it !

whatwasIgoingtosay · 10/02/2022 21:56

These dresses made me laugh out loud!

TheCurrywurstPrion · 10/02/2022 21:56

@Kenworthington

Fuck it. I’m going to order it . In the floral. Eeeeek. I will look like a frilly toilet roll cover with some weird mummy/son issues. And I will be FABULOUS doing so
Just seen the thread as you’re trending. So glad you’re going.for it. It’s stunning and you can’t upstage the bride, so it’s a win-win situation!

Hope you love it on you as much as you love the photo.

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 21:57

Haha oh dear well I hope all the haters aren’t gonna be at the wedding. That’ll be awks. Oh well. I’ve provided you all with some light entertainment and suitable pearl-clutching so my job here is done.
Genuinely I LOVE the dress. I’m ordering it in the floral. The red is nice but won’t go with the colour scheme. The ivory is clearly too bridal. I know this. However everyone also knows my son is not marrying his 46 year old mother as that’s illegal and weird. Also- as you may have seen half way through this thread- I sent him a link to the frock and he thinks it’s FABULOUS. So winner winner.

Raquel is that you?

PurBal · 10/02/2022 21:57

I love it

Pythonesque · 10/02/2022 21:58

@OystercatchersPaddling

I love them - but I don’t think cream for a wedding, even when there isn’t a bride. The flower one is beautiful - if you aren’t sure, why don’t you ask your son? Although I can’t see why you need to check, guests don’t usually run outfits by the brides/grooms?
Well.... I wore an embroidered cream dress + jacket to my brother-in-law's wedding, and it was fine despite what mumsnet opinion would probably have been. But I most definitely checked with his fiancee what style she was wearing and whether what I'd found fallen in love with would be ok with her. We were travelling back home for their wedding, DH was best man, our then just 4 yr old was flower girl and I was wrangling our youngest who I think was just walking.

OP - your comment about their theme being boho/peaches seems to suggest that the dress you've ordered might fit in rather well besides expressing your own style. Hope it suits you and fits beautifully when it arrives!

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 21:58

Thank you to everyone for your opinions. Especially the ones who also love it 🤣 I will post pics when it arrives!

Absolutely love that dress. Go for it!!!

CharlotteRose90 · 10/02/2022 22:01

I love it in all colours and I say go for it in any colour. It’s not a traditional wedding and you certainly won’t be upscaling the bride as there isn’t one. It’s 2 grooms and if they aren’t wearing white then go for it. Weddings are the time to dress to impress. No one would look at that white one and go Oo she’s outdoing the groom no chance.

Probably miles ahead of me coming to the thread and gone on to another dress now, but OMG, this is fabulous and as you've said your son is flamboyant I reckon he would utterly love it. If I could afford it I'd buy it and wear it to the supermarket every day to get my money's worth out of it! I do love the first cream gown and I know there's no bride but it might be a bit too bridal even so.

You can't go wrong with Vivienne

Trunumber · 10/02/2022 22:03

Yes!! I'm so glad you ordered it. I think it's perfect. Congrats to your son (and to you for having an amazing dress!)

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 22:04

@IReallyLikeCrows (love your user name/ I do too actually!) it’s sold out in basically every bloody size. Sad. It’s fab isn’t it
@Retisestress my son is very outgoing and flamboyant. He’d prob love it tbh. His partner wouldn’t notice if the whole bridal party turned up dressed in bin bags 🤣
Ask them then

Letsbekindplease · 10/02/2022 22:05

I think the floral one is lovely and think you should. The cream one is a bit bridal but also gorgeous.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/02/2022 22:06

I love needle & thread - I have a couple of skirts and some of their knitwear and frequently covet their dresses wishing I had somewhere to wear them too!

Late to the thread and I see you've ordered the floral dress, but if you try it on and feel it's just a bit much then can I suggest looking at some of their skirts (and indeed tops)? Something like the Florence ruffle skirt is lovely IMO and comes in several colours and could be worn with a fancy top for the wedding but would also look cool with knitwear, or chunky boots and a leather biker or similar which might actually be quite wearable in the future.

Kenworthington · 10/02/2022 22:07

Oh I do really like that @StatisticallyChallenged esp in the light pink (which actually looks more peach to me). Maybe I may have to get that anyway I do really like it

I think the cream one would make all the other guests think you are trying to be a bride / overshadow the wedding. Depending on the venue the floral one would be OK.

GreenClock · 10/02/2022 22:08

I like the floral and the red. I bet you’ll look great!

Facewipes · 10/02/2022 22:10

I don’t actually like it in cream as looks a bit bandage-y but I think the red looks lovely. Hope you feel really nice in whatever you wear and you all have a great day

ElleGB · 10/02/2022 22:11

I think you’ll look bloody FANTASTIC and honestly, who cares what anyone thinks of the grooms like it?!

Go for it and have a great day!

Neveranynamesleft · 10/02/2022 22:12

Late to the party but for what it's worth, the floral one is just ' too much ' with all the flowers and frills.
Cream one is soooooo much nicer and smarter and yes you can wear what you bloomin well like.
