There were a few Toast sale items on JL in the early hours: I was delighted to get a pair of Jessa dungarees half price.

ilovecherries · 24/01/2022 09:29

@ToastCosILoveIt

Thanks *@ilovecherries*, did you have to size down in the trousers and the top? I have put the 10 and 12 of both in my basket. The 12 in the shop felt very generous but then the 10 might be a bit too snug.
Mine are S/M/L sizing. I have a M in both, could nearly have gone for S but felt the S was pulling slightly across the pockets and the shoulders.

The Tala dress is beautiful. After me saying it had probably been kicking around being tried on a returned for 2 years it was immaculate, pressed and folded beautifully. I love it. It’s a tiny bit big on the bodice but I love it so much it’s worth having that altered. It was softer than I expected for poplin but a gorgeous summer dress.

What colour do you have in the Tala dress ilovecherries? I thought both shades were beautiful. I missed out sadly , it’s the dress that got away ….

Countmeout · 24/01/2022 09:46

I have the pesto Tala. It is one of my favourite things ever .

Laska2Meryls · 24/01/2022 09:59

I really liked the pesto Tala but didnt order it, because I just knew that I wouldn't wear it..

I dyed my new bargain JL Chalk Emma tee in Dylon vintage blue (mixed with a small packet of Ocean blue) yesterday .. Am really pleased with how it has come out.. pretty sure its almost the same as the blue one Toast are selling for £60 Smile.
I cannot believe that the new striped half sleeve tee is £75..
Tbh I am pretty much getting priced out of Toast now... Luckily I have a lot already...
I havent yet decided if I am going to keep the slate wide leg trousers , I send back and get the oil gabis instead which of course would be spending 25 more but I think more wearable ..

ilovecherries · 24/01/2022 09:59

Mine is blue. I kept resisting it - too much arm, too much neck etc etc but I kept looking at it. Then late on the day the sale ended a 12 suddenly appeared on the site.

Sales only for me now, I think!

ilovecherries · 24/01/2022 10:02

It reminds me (in a good way) of summer dresses my mum used to make and wear in the 60s. She had a lemon one scattered with small birds and a black one with huge blowsy pink cabbage roses on it which as a child I thought was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen

I have my final recent sale purchase on today - bud check shirt. Wearing it with a Toast denim pinafore dress and it looks a bit like I'm off to a hoedown. Not an unattractive combination.

I wouldn't have bought/kept the shirt at full price but at sale price, the quality and great colours are good enough.

I think the Tala dress is really elegant but recently bought Mila Meadow and Palm Print dresses (Nov sale so neither worn yet) and saw it fitting same wardrobe slot as them, so couldn't justify.

Laska2Meryls · 24/01/2022 11:19

Here's my dyed tee ( Francis one) and the apple cardi.. that cardi is so warm but I think that I could have sized down ? ...

Definitely sending back the slate trousers, those ones I am wearing with the cardi are Cos .. Pretty similar but with advantage of elastic waistband!😂

Laska2Meryls · 24/01/2022 11:36

I dyed both Emma half sleeve and a Chalk Francis tee blue ..

I simply wasn't wearing the long sleeve one in chalk, unlike all my others. This is now a much better colour for me.

TheChattyRat · 24/01/2022 12:15

I think the sizing on the Aran cardigan is fine @Laska2Meryls - it looks lovely and cosy.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/01/2022 13:51

My bud check shirt arrived today as well - my first Toast shirt disappointment of this sale. The 10 gaped at the bust, which is my normal problem with shirts, the 12 was a bit too big on the shoulders and I don’t like it enough to compromise on fit. I also don’t think the colour was particularly flattering on me.
No great loss as I’ve already got 3 shirts from the sale that I’m really pleased with.

alliscalm · 24/01/2022 14:19

I bought the Tala in both shades in the sale and I know they will get a lot of wear. I know what you mean @Laska2Meryls. Luckily for me I can get to Llandeilo quite frequently otherwise I would not be able to quench my relatively new passion for Toast. I’ve been looking on eBay and have bought a denim jacket but some of the prices are, shall we say, ambitious. An indigo Puritan style dress (probably a few seasons old) that I picked up for £60 in Llandeilo was listed with a starting price £30 dearer.

alliscalm · 24/01/2022 14:22

PS love that apple cardi, it looks lovely on you.

AmethystMoonShine · 24/01/2022 14:41

Apple Aran cardigan looks fab on you @Laska2Meryls. Great dye job on the top too .

TerrierOrTerror · 24/01/2022 14:48

So I bought the Gabi Cord trousers in Soft Ginger in a size 12. I honestly don't think a smaller size would fit my legs, but the waist/crotch is pretty big. Not helped by the fact I still don't have a mirror so my only view is looking down, will get my husband to take a photo later. The colour is a bit brighter than I was hoping for, so will need to play around with my wardrobe and make sure they will work with enough.

I think my best bet is to try and get to a store and see other trouser styles too.

TheChattyRat · 24/01/2022 15:53

@alliscalm which toast shirts were your sale successes?

alliscalm · 24/01/2022 16:46

A broken check black/white shirt which I’m wearing today and a very fine lawn cream shirt which I think was seasons old. Stock in Llandeilo tends not to have original name tags. I’ve bought navy cord Gabis (£45!) an ikat dress, a floaty dark dress which is a bit Virginia Woolf and a cinnamon colour twill jacket with knobbly fastenings.

faustina · 24/01/2022 16:59

@Laska2Meryls - that cardigan looks really lovely on you!

talking of dresses, I noticed Liberty are doing a collab with Community clothing and they have some really lovely plain and gingham cotton summer dresses. Don't look on Liberty if interested because the price mark up is mad - they have the same on the Community Clothing website. Also, there's a much bigger choice of colours there. they're very much like the oversized Toast ones last summer (mine is olive oil)

mizu · 24/01/2022 20:25

Laska beautiful cardigan Star

Countmeout · 25/01/2022 08:01

Lovely cardigan @Laska2Meryls. It’s longer than I imagined. It’ll be wonderfully cosy.

lordloveadog · 25/01/2022 12:22

Grid check crinkled cotton dress arrived and is lovely. Thinner fabric than its blue predecessor, more spring. But the new bodice design makes it really rather special.
